The many lies of Joe Biden
If there is one area in which you can clearly see the dishonesty of the press, it is in fact-checking. In fact, much of the fact-checking is deceptive – part of an overall disinformation campaign by the media. It is true that President Trump does say things that are demonstrably not true at times, but a very high proportion of his so-called lies are subject to interpretation or matters of opinion — and you know how those on the left view their opinions as fact. Others are jokes and sarcasm which his enemies interpret literally.
You will notice that the media fact-checkers spend truly little time – close to none – in fact-checking Joe Biden. Now I am not one of those professional so-called fact-checkers — nor do I have big staff to dig out every out-of-context statement to add to the pile of alleged fibs by Trump. But I think Biden has done some pretty serious lying – deserving of some fact-checking. So, here are some of my favorites.
To show that the man has a lifelong habit of telling whoppers, we can begin with his college days. Biden presented writings in college that he claimed to be of his own creation – in one case five pages of plagiarized material. In fact, he lied. The plagiarism was so serious that it got him a rebuke from the school – and almost expelled.
Then there were these (with some help from PolitiFact and others):
- When running for office shortly after graduating, Biden claimed that he was in the top quarter of his law class. Totally a lie. He actually finished off near the bottom.
- He claimed that he earned a full scholarship to the University. He did not. He did have a very small grant of the type many students get.
- He claimed that he was declared the best student in his Political Science class. He was not – and never so recognized.
- When making his first bid for President of the United States way back in 1988, Biden resorted to his old habit of plagiarizing – lifting the works of President Jack Kennedy, Massachusetts Senator Bobby Kennedy, Minnesota Senator Hubert Humphrey and British Labor Party Leader Neil Kinnock. The plagiarism and the lies were so serious that they forced him out of the race.
- Over the years, Biden told audiences – especially black audiences — that he had participated in all sorts of civil rights activities – as an activist and organizer for demonstrations, sit-ins, boycotts, voter registration drives and as a black church trainee. None of the stories were ever corroborated – and eventually Biden had to issue a correction. He said: “During the 1960s, I was in fact very concerned about the civil rights movement. I was not an activist. I worked at an all-black swimming pool in the east side of Wilmington, Delaware. I was involved in what they were thinking, what they were feeling. But I was not out marching. I was not down in Selma. I was not anywhere else.”
- Biden has repeatedly lied about the tragedy that took the lives of his first wife Neilia and their daughter by saying that they were the victims of a drunken truck driver. The truck driver was not drunk, and it was Biden’s wife that blew a stop sign and drove into the path of the truck.
- Biden apologized to the daughter of the truck driver for his mischaracterization of the event but repeated the bogus account again in 2007 – and was again forced to retract his statement.
- Biden tells a romanticized story of how he saw Jill’s photo and fell immediately in love with her. Jill was married at the time they met — and both Jill and her husband worked on Biden’s campaign. Some have accused Biden of being the “other man” that broke up the marriage.
- More recently, Biden told a black audience that he had begun his academic career at a black university. Totally untrue.
- He said that the GOP budget was a plan to end Medicare in 10 years. Not even close.
- In several recent appearances, Biden denied that he had any plans to end fracking for oil despite several recorded statements in which he said that very thing. He has even lied within a lie when the campaign issues videos of Biden saying firmly that he will not end fracking … period – but tells some audiences that he will end some now, stop issuing new permits and eventually end it altogether.
- Biden told an audience that he had been shot at in 2007 while visiting Iraq. When later challenged, he admitted that he had “misspoke.” (That reminds me of Senator Richard Blumenthal thinking he had fought in battles in Vietnam when had not. And Hillary Clinton saying she came under fire when she landed in Bosnia. News videos showed her accepting flowers from a young girl in native costume. Maybe Clinton mistook a prick from a rose stem for a volley of bullets. But I digress. )
- Biden promised to give a statement before Election Day on whether he favors or is opposed to packing the Supreme Court. He has not – and all indications are that he will not.
- In a CNN Townhall meeting, Biden angrily rejected a question from a member of the Boilermakers Union. Biden said he was endorsed by the Boilermakers. Totally untrue.
- During the debate, he said 18,000 prisoners got clemency from the Obama administration. Untrue.
- Biden once claimed that he was arrested “on the streets of Soweto” South Africa when he tried to visit Nelson Mandela in prison. He said Mandela thanked him for the effort. Biden had to retract his story when it was proven it never happened – none of it.
- He declared the hearings to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barret are unconstitutional. Not true. Biden needs to read the Constitution.
- Biden claimed that the Trump administration ended all funding for community policing. Totally untrue.
- To further his argument for delaying the Barrett hearing, Biden said that the Supreme Court has no sessions until next year. Not only is that untrue, but the Court is also entering its busiest season with arguments being heard on Obamacare just days after the General Election.
- Perhaps Biden just lost his mind, but he actually said that if Trump has done his job ALL those who died would be alive. He even repeated his statement for emphasis, “All the people. I am not making this up.” Yes, you are, Joe.
- Biden claimed that “no President before Trump was racist” – assuming that Trump is. Biden forgot about all those Democrat presidents with deep racist histories and policies, including the much-revered Democrats Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt to name a few.
- In reaching out for black voters, Biden said “the NAACP endorsed me every time I ran.” They did not.
- Biden claimed that the Obama administration never locked migrant kids in cages. In fact, the cages were built by the Obama administration for the retention of children – and others.
- Biden claims he came out against the Iraq war from the beginning. In fact, Biden voted in favor of the war when President Bush sought congressional support – and did not express opposition for several years.
- Biden said that Trump would “carpet bomb” the Middle East. Fact is, Trump is removing U.S. forces and has secured an unprecedented three treaties between Israel and Arab nations.
- Biden’s more recent campaign slogan “Build Back Better” was copied from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s fight against Covid-19.
- Biden talks about himself as “a teacher” or “professor.” He did have an association with a college for a short while, but never as a classroom teacher.
- Most famously, Biden told another whopper when he said he knew nothing of his son’s business dealings. Recent evidence shows that he had meetings with Hunter and top executives of the corrupt Burisma Holdings. Leaked emails show that Biden is likely “the big guy” who would get a 10 percent cut of some deal.
- Biden claims that all that Ukraine stuff has been investigated and debunked. His unspecified investigators cleared him and his son completely. In fact, the last information was just released and there has been no investigation of Hunter – or Joe – in terms of any Ukrainian dealings. There are also lingering questions about money from China and Russia.
- Biden recounts a dramatic story about his visit to Afghanistan to honor a Naval officer who had rappelled down a ravine while under fire to retrieve a fellow soldier. “This is God’s truth. My word as a Biden.” The Washington Post wrote that “every detail in the story appears to be incorrect.” They further wrote that, “In the space of three minutes, Biden got the time period, the location, the heroic act, the type of medal, the military branch and the rank of the recipient wrong, as well as his own role in the ceremony.
- To create a connection to the working person – and to get votes in Pennsylvania — Biden often talks about being “brought up” in Scranton, Pennsylvania in a working-class family. They had moved to Delaware when Biden was 10 years old.
- Biden has claimed to have given up the ambition for “making a fortune” to be in public service. It is true that he has been on the taxpayer payroll virtually his entire post-college life – but public service has made him a very wealthy guy, he is reported to have a net worth of more than $10 million dollars as of 2016.
This could go on almost endlessly. And this list does not include his many flip-flops on issues – such as fracking, abortion, gun control, the Iraq War, confirming Supreme Court justices in an election year, etc., etc., etc.
Biden has built his entire public image and reputation on lies. He is, in fact, a hot-tempered Irish politician with a penchant for the blarney.

Of course, the trump tabulation has only been going on since he became president, and I am not going to bother to list all of them (since they exceed 20,000), but Biden is a light-weight when it comes to circumventing the truth, your man is the champ! But to point out his lies, his “cognitive decline”, his son getting special treatment, or his ties to foreign governments, just doesn’t make sense. All Biden has to do is say, “Do you really want to compare lies? Cognitive decline? Nepotism? Foreign entanglements? Trump comes out the loser in EVERY SINGLE one of the side by side comparisons on these issues.”
It’s just not a winning strategy. But at this point, it doesn’t really look like there is a winning strategy for trump.

Dan told me in one of his earlier responses that he was a college graduate-that concerns me a lot, since I knew our schools were in bad shape due to lack of funding, but I never thought that somebody could graduate from University and still not be able to read. 1) 2.2 Million people were expected to die from the coronavirus-not true, nobody expected that many people to die, but that is the number that was floated around if nothing was done, with mitigation 100K-240K was expected, we are going to go way over that.
2) We have a vaccine that’s coming, that’s ready-not true, we all know that there are various vaccines under development, but they are not ready, and we are certainly not going to be vaccinating significant numbers of people this year.
3) 99% of people recover from Covid-the death rate is still approaching 3%, even with all the improvements that have been made in treatments. However, even among those that don’t die, many of the people who have been hospitalized have had lingering effects, so I would not describe those people as “fully recovered”.
4) Obama administration was a disaster on swine flu-Since there were only 12,500 people that died of the swine flu in the US, this is obviously false when compared to Trump’s handling of Covid. But, they are different diseases, so trying to compare them really makes no sense….
5) He banned China travel in January-Is false, had he actually locked the country down, we probably would have been in much better shape. He stopped some people from coming from China, but there were still lots of people, citizens, green card holders, that continued to come in, and none of these people were tested or quarantined….
6) Nancy Pelosi was dancing on the streets of Chinatown-This is similar to his statement that he saw Muslims celebrating after the 9/11 attacks (also false), due to the Xenophobic bile that Trump was stirring up in April, Nancy did go to Chinatown in SF to show that there was no cause to be concerned about Chinese residents of the US, but was nothing like dancing.
7) No one has been tougher than me on Russia-if I have to explain that this is a total lie, I really have doubts about your ability to process the news. The fact that Trump has never made a derogatory comment to Putin is well understood..
8) I don’t make money from China. You do. I don’t make money from Ukraine. 9) Biden received $3.5 Million from Russia-There is a totally unproven allegation that Hunter Biden received this money, but there is zero evidence (or even allegations except from Trump) that Joe received any of this.
10) Trump claimed that Russia was meddling in the election to defeat him-Had he said that about China, it might be believable, but because he said it about Russia, it is totally laughable (also our spy agencies don’t believe this)
11) I can’t release my taxes because they are under audit-How many times have we heard this, and how many times does it need to be said that an audit does not preclude releasing your taxes?
12) Mueller went through everything, including my taxes and found nothing wrong-there is no evidence that Mueller looked at his taxes, the probe was very narrowly focused, but to say in general he found nothing wrong is a lie, he did not bring any charges against him due to the Justice Department’s opinion that a sitting President cannot be charged with such crimes.
13) Obama tried to meet with him (Kim Jong Un), he wouldn’t do it-total fabrication, Obama refused to meet with Kim unless preconditions were met, Trump had no such preconditions….
14) No one has done more for the Black community than Donald Trump, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln-Of course DT flunked history, so he wouldn’t know about the actions of Lyndon Johnson for people of color and the civil rights movement.
15) They want to spend $100 Trillion, they want to knock down building and build new building with little tiny windows-Another totally false statement, Biden has suggested he would like to spend $2 Trillion on renewable energy infrastructure, some of which would be used to enhance the energy efficiency of existing buildings.

17) China is paying billions in tariff revenue-China has not paid one cent in tariff revenue, tariffs are taxes that are levied when goods are imported, and are paid by the American companies that do the importing (and in most cases are past on to the consumer in the form of higher prices…
18) Biden wants socialized medicine-Far from it, he wants to keep Obamacare with a public option similar to medicare for people that choose to have their coverage like that, keeping private insurance for those who want that.
19) Over 400 miles of brand new wall have been built-somewhere close to 400 miles of wall has been constructed, but the vast majority of this replaces existing wall…
20) Less than 2% of the people under catch and release come back for their hearings, and those are the dumb ones-latest statistics show that 75% of those released do return for their hearings…
21) US has the best carbon emission numbers in 35 years-since our numbers have mostly been going up each year, the fact that there was a slight decline in 2019 (due to less coal being used-remember the I dig coal slogan from 2016, and how coal was going to boom-another lie) they are not the best numbers we have had over the years.
22) We have the cleanest air and water-the US comes in at 16th in air quality and 26th in water quality, not exactly “be best”

President Trump’s performance at the first presidential debate was so petulant and disgusting that it has taken me this long to put my thoughts to pixels. It’s not like I was surprised by what he did. Trump has been barking lies and obscenities at the American people since June 16, 2015. What was breathtaking on Tuesday was the ferocity of his bullying. It was a Brett Kavanaugh-like performance that reeked of desperation. The chaos in Cleveland reinforced my belief that Trump will do everything to win. He’ll do anything to maintain his shield from criminal prosecution and to continue monetizing the presidency — perhaps to make enough money to pay the $421 million in debts and loans that are coming due within the next four years, according to the New York Times. Trump is as pathetic as he is dangerous.
Actually Mike I formed my opinions before I ever heard of Hannity and Laura Medicare and social security aren’t socialist programs per say. We work and pay into the funds. Of course special needs people whom from childhood can’t look after themselves must have help. I have a nephew that was born with Down’s syndrome. Yes, he will never be able to do much for himself and will have to be kept up through SSI. But no illegal immigrants should have free health care while my wife and I have worked to provide for us. I have never had a handout from the government and I paid for my college out of pocket. Before I would have became a welfare bum I would have stood on the streets with a bucket and played my fiddle. I don’t have a problem with helping people that’s down and out or people receiving disability social security if they really need it. Dan, Since the last thing you mentioned is Hillary, how about that lie-“the first thing I do as President will be to send Hillary to jail”. Or is that not a lie, just a campaign promise not kept (like all the rest of them, except for his wonderful tax cuts for the rich, he promised that, and you got it-and the deficit that goes with it.) Dan, The issue that you seem to overlook (as do most Republicans) is that our economy does not function without the “little” people. And, since we are a relatively prosperous nation, some of us think that the “little” people deserve a reasonable life-style. I do not believe in welfare for able-bodied who perhaps choose not to work, but I do believe that anybody who is willing to work should A) receive a living wage (which the current minimum wage is not a living wage anyplace) and B) should receive reasonable healthcare. The healthcare would have to be government provided, that yes, you and I would be paying for with taxes (just as we do for social security and medicare). So, yes, I am in favor of socialism if that is what you want to call this (and so is my Presidential candidate). I believe that it is important to take care of those around me, because I realize that the economy would crash if it were not for all of these people in low-paying jobs. So enough about socialism-the real point of Larry’s article was “Lies by Biden” which I pointed out was an incredible reach due to the vast number of Lies by Trump on record. And just yesterday, he tells a major whopper at one of his Covid Spreaders-“The reason we have so many Covid deaths is because the Doctors make more money if they write the cause of death as Covid 19”. To me, that goes beyond lying, Trump is a real sick puppy and all of you should be very concerned about his mental health….
