Gorman Murder Puts Left-Wing Democrat Craziness on Full Display

On Thursday, March 19, 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman went for a Chicago lakefront walk with three friends. She was wantonly shot dead by an illegal alien.

This was the same lakefront that Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker walked along in a Tik Tok video claiming the area was perfectly safe. His video was specifically created to oppose ICE agents doing their work in his state. It is more than ironic that Gorman was murdered by an illegal alien – the very type of person that ICE was removing from the streets of Chicago.

The killer, Jose Medina-Medina, was a 25-year-old Venezuelan who was in the United States illegally – a product of President Biden’s open borders policy. This was not Medina-Medina’s first brush with the law. He entered the country illegally in May 2023, was apprehended by Border Patrol, and was released. In June 2023, Chicago police arrested him for shoplifting $132 worth of merchandise from a Macy’s store on State Street. He was released on bond once again, failed to appear in court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. That warrant remained active when he gunned down Sheridan Gorman. Sanctuary policies and lax enforcement kept this criminal on the streets. Illinois Democrats own that failure.

Both Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson gave it short shrift – continuing their campaign against ICE presence in Chicago. When specifically questioned about the murder, Pritzker called it “a terrible tragedy” and acknowledged “real failures” in the immigration system, but he quickly pivoted to blame national issues and the Trump administration. He stated, “There have been real failures. Those failures, of course, extend beyond the borders of Illinois. That is their national failures, a failure to have comprehensive immigration reform, a failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst.”

Johnson offered condolences but deflected blame to “illegal weapons that are being trafficked from bordering states that voted for Donald Trump.” He insisted that the bigger threat to public safety came from guns, not illegal immigration, and refused to apologize for sanctuary policies that protected criminals like Medina.

Even more amazing was Democrat Alderman Maria Hadden, who represents the Rogers Park neighborhood where the murder occurred. She said Gorman was “in the wrong place at the wrong time” – and suggested that Gorman and her friends may have done something to frighten Medina, who happened to have a gun. In an interview, Hadden mused that the students “might have startled the gunman at the end of the pier unintentionally.” This victim-blaming garbage came before the suspect was even identified. Hadden later issued a half-hearted apology after her remarks sparked outrage, but the damage was done. Her words revealed the twisted mindset of Chicago Democrats. Their first instinct is to protect the criminal and blame the victim.

Gorman’s own school paper, The Loyola Phoenix, apologized for calling Medina an “illegal alien” in its initial reports. They then issued an apologetic statement that said:

No human’s existence is illegal, and we quickly changed our wording to reflect that. We acknowledge the harm such language can cause and the power and importance of the words we choose to use. That language does not align with Associated Press style, nor does it align with the values of this newspaper. We deeply regret these errors.”

A human’s existence may not be, in and of itself, illegal, but what they do can be so labeled. Calling Medina an “Illegal alien” is accurate and proper, both as the adjective and the noun. We do have non-citizens – aliens — who are in America legally, but Medina is not one of them.

The Loyola editors even took down an Instagram post that referenced his immigration status to “prevent any further harm to affected community members.” Imagine that – an American college student lies dead, and the campus newspaper wrings its hands over proper woke terminology for the killer. Their first interest is to prevent reputational “harm to affected (presumably Venezuelan) community members.” This is more left-wing insanity.

Gorman’s murder is just another example of Democrat officials playing down the history and role of the killer – essentially ignoring or even blaming the victim. That was evident in Gorman’s family’s response to the killing and the statements and actions of Democrat officials, including Pritzker and Johnson.

The Gorman family released a powerful statement demanding accountability. They rejected the blameless “unfortunate tragedy” narrative and the attempts to shift blame to Trump, to guns or to Gorman. The family declared that the system failed their daughter, that sanctuary policies and open borders enabled this horror, and that leaders like Pritzker and Johnson must answer for it. “Calling this a tragedy is not enough,” they said. Sheridan Gorman deserved a future that was stolen from her by a criminal who should never have been here – and by politicians who allowed him to remain in the country with sanctuary policies and anti-ICE policies.

The outrage here runs deep. Illinois Democrats have turned Chicago into a sanctuary city where illegal aliens with criminal records roam free while law-abiding citizens pay the price. Pritzker and Johnson prioritize political ideology over public safety. They fight ICE tooth and nail, pass laws shielding criminals, fail to prosecute and then feign shock when an innocent 18-year-old girl is executed in a place they claim was safe. Their responses drip with deflection and political gamesmanship. Instead of vowing to secure the borders and cooperate with federal enforcement, they lecture about “comprehensive reform” and blame everyone but themselves.

Sheridan Gorman was not in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was a bright young woman enjoying college life in a city her leaders swore was secure. The wrong place was Chicago under Democrat rule. The wrong time was after years of open borders and sanctuary madness. Medina should have been deported long ago. Instead, he walked free thanks to the very policies Pritzker, Johnson and national Democrats champion.

This murder exposes the lethal hypocrisy of the left. They virtue-signal about compassion while victims like Gorman bleed out on the streets. They apologize for words describing killers but offer no apologies to grieving families. They claim to care about public safety yet dismantle every tool that keeps criminals off the streets. Illinois Democrats have blood on their hands, and Sheridan Gorman’s death demands more than condolences. It demands real accountability, real border security, real law enforcement and real leadership that puts the law-abiding American citizen first.

The left-wing craziness on display here is not an anomaly. It is the inevitable result of radical policies that value illegal aliens over citizens – criminal over victims. Until voters reject this insanity, more innocent lives will be lost. Sheridan Gorman’s murder must be a wake-up call. The Democrats who enabled it must be held responsible. Anything less dishonors her memory and endangers every family in Illinois.

So, there ’tis.

Larry, What could we expect from a demented ignoramus such as yourself? More bullshit please… Yes, it is sad when any person is murdered, but unfortunately murders (and mass murders) seem to happen every day. And the only time that conservative idiots (such as yourself) care about these is when they take place by an undocumented person. Otherwise you extend ‘thoughts and prayers’ to those left behind. How about focusing on the literally thousands of other murders that take place annually (mostly with guns) and attempt to do something about those (ie, the proliferation of handguns??) Instead of realizing that the US has a serious problem with gun violence, you (and the rest of the fools that support republicans) decide to attempt to make political hay by blaming democrats for this incident. Yes, it is sad, but the fact that you conveniently choose to ignore is that lawlessness is less among the immigrant population than the US born, but judging from the conservative writers (and the orange fool in the oval office), the population would believe that crime is rampant among that segment of the population….

MF: I think you are off base here. Yes, I think Larry uses this for his vendetta on the Chicago politics which gave him that brutal spanking and against all Democrats that he stereotypes as “leftists.” I am a life-long Democrat, but not a “lefist.” Matter of fact, Mom called me “her little Republican” and my best friends parents growing up with high in the Republican party, for Maryland. Racists too, but really nice ones. But while I disagree with Larry on much of this, as do you, I think he is spot on for a lot of it and we have real issues in America that we need our leaders to fix, or at least address, versus this useless shaming, blaming, naming, but not working together to fix.

Frank-Sorry, I stick with what I said. I usually try to figure out what is the root cause of a problem and try to fix that, Larry looks for a way to spin everything so it is a problem caused by democrats. We have a problem with guns in this country, so I’ll make a proposal that should be a winner. All people buying and possessing guns in the US need to be citizens. In order to purchase a gun you need to show a passport or birth certificate (just like trumps ‘SAVE’ act) that should be a winner…😝

Mike f … I think you may have a good idea. Make it personal weapons … not military or police, who may be non-citizens. Gun ownership is an articulated constitutional right — which arguably applies only to citizens. I think it would only take congressional action to ban gun ownership for non-citizens. Have to give that more thought to see what any downsides might be. And the same for voting …eh?

What, you mean Federalize gun control laws and voting laws both? Brilliant!

FYI: Larry, gun purchases already banned for non-citizens. Must have been illegal gun, probably from Florida, aren’t they all?

In 2022, approximately 5,723 firearms originally purchased in Florida were recovered in other states, representing about 19.1% of all guns traced back to Florida that year. Florida is a significant source of interstate gun migration, often ranking among the top states for supplying firearms used in crimes in other regions.

            2022:
            Total Recovered Out-of-State: 5,723.
Top Destination State: New York (652 guns).
Second Destination State: Georgia (519 guns).
Third Destination State: Texas (359 guns).

Florida is number two in the country when it comes to buying guns, probably way up there on the profitable exportation of what become illegal guns too,

Mike f … apart from your usual childish and ignorant venting, you are way off base. The killer should not have been in the country. He got here because of Biden’s and the Democrat’s open borders policy — and he should have been deported for past offensives. But Democrat prosecutors and courts released him. Why? Also, your memory is fading. I have written about non-immigrant related murders. Too often committed by people who should have been in jail — but were repeatedly released by Democrat prosecutors. I have also written about Democrat prosecutors releasing people committing other crimes. Not prosecuting rioters, arsonists, vandals and looters. Giving a pass to crooks stealing less than $900 in merchandise. Thee record is clear. Democrats are soft on crime … period. With his urban enforcement policies, Trump has proven that it does not have to be that way. Would you still say it is okay if one of your family was killed by an illegal alien who never should never have been in America? You have no considerations for the victims. You are part of the problem. You argument that crime by illegal immigrants is acceptable as long as the per capita rate is lower. That argument is something between silly an stupid … and typical.

Does Larry have actual proof of party for these judges and prosecutors? Probably not in which case he’s just talking out his ass.

I still agree Mike is off base, and the root-root cause here is not the illegal gun from Florida, or somewhere else, but the fact this guy was apprehended by Border Patrol and released. Was he in the asylum program or not? And if in, how? Then, how does he get arrested and released on bond? You can cry and whine about sanctuary and Democrats, but the root cause is whatever fucked up policy let than happen. And then a warrant for three years —- I thought ICE was going after criminals? How did he slip through the ICE net.

The gun is way down the line in cause compared to CBP releasing him: this murder would never have happened and, hey Larry, wanna bet CBP is Republican? Then when arrested, how does not ICE put a detainer on him for deportation OR the court flag him. That’s both parties probably. Then an open warrant for three years; that’s on ICE. That’s three bites at the apple we had to deport this guy and those are the root causes. She does not get murdered if any of those three did the right thing.

Did you know that more people are killed with hammers than firearms? This murderer broke the law when he crossed the Southern border, so he was already a wanted criminal and if you would have bothered to investigate his history you would know that he was a wanted criminal in his home country as well. You remind me of the idiots that exceed the speed-limits on our roads and then cry when they get a ticket, or crash and kill someone else.

If convicted of this heinous act, I trust we will lock the guy up and throw away the key.

That is no reason for Horist to become judge, jury, and executioner while blaming Illinois Democrats, Joe Biden, and all US Democrats for his anecdote. Because Larry has no data relative to his conclusionary statements on borders, sanctuary, or the criminal nature of illegal aliens.

He notes there is no database tracking immigration status allowing computation of murder rates by immigrants of any flavor. He does not note that TX did run a study which concluded native Americans murder at a higher rate than immigrants.

This is still a heinous act, and if found guilty, and it sure looks that way, hopefully life without parole. But for Larry to vilify all immigrants because of this one datapoint is, frankly, unamerican. Likewise, for him to vilify all Democrats, first falsely labelling them as “leftists,” that this crime is directly attributable to sanctuary city policies is all bogus speculation on his part.

Rather than try to understand how this guy could be arrested for shoplifting, and then let loose, he just says: “He was released on bond once again, failed to appear in court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.” That was three years ago, so I would think the question: why can this happen is more appropriate than just wringing his hands and blaming Democrats. Apparently there are no Republicans with any powers whatsoever, public, political, or personal, in all of Illinois according to Larry.

If I used this same philosophy to look at Republicans, we have two murders in MN, one shot in the face, one shot multiple times in the back where, I guess, thinking like Larry, “National Republicans own that failure.” Want some spicey Larry-like quotes on that from the major players like Trump, Vance, Bovino, and Noem?

Or how about using that same philosophy to summarize the Republican-sponsored sneak attack that murdered 150 school kids in Iran with spicey quotes from Hegseth-the-drunk about the new Republican advocacy for “maximum lethality” and “maximum authorities on the battlefield,” with Republicans arguing that traditional restrictions meant to minimize civilian harm “shackle” American power.” Certainly 150 school kids is more than just unshackling.

Point is this murder sucks, a terrible tragedy, on a wharf I am pretty sure I have partied on in my visits to Chicago where I always felt safe to roam the streets by the magnificent mile at any hour of the night. But this is America and everyone is innocent until proven guilty and the rule of law stands above our emotions, misplaced or not. I think all parties agree, get rid of the criminal element, native or immigrant. We disagree on border jumpers, more so when they have been in the US for years. We are at arms over how ICE acts: PERIOD.

But we need to identify the problems, understand the problems and then work together to solve the problems. Just screaming like a baby that the other side sucks ain’t helping. When Larry says: “Their first instinct is to protect the criminal and blame the victim” he should remember that the guy is innocent until guilty which seems to be his first instinct whenever an immigrant is involved.

On this one, I see several issues, not one of them being sanctuary cities. 1) how does an immigrant get a gun and how do we stop that, 2) how do illegal guns get to Chicago (we know the answer, NJ’s come up the Iron Pipeline from Larry’s house for example, but do you have the balls to enact national guns laws like you want for voting laws?), 3) why did border patrol let him go, 4) why the release on bond for shoplifting (or any crime), 5) put it altogether and ask: how does an illegal get let loose by ICE/CBP upon entry, then get arrested, convicted, but not deported? I mean I don’t see anything about asylum, so what’s up.

As to the rest, I actually agree with Larry: 1) arguing over the use of illegal alien as a term is water-under-the-bridge and they ARE illegal, they are aliens, 2) while Chicago (and NJ) have issues with imported guns from ez-access-gun regions, gun issues have nothing to do with this case, 3) Trump’s immigration stand has nothing to do with this case and our fucked-up immigration law/process/whatever is owned by BOTH PARTIES, 4) wrong place, wrong time is just plain wrong (see my earlier note how I have been there, much later at night) 5) anti-ICE has nothing to do with this case. I feel for the Gormans looking for accountability and justice: I hope they get satisfaction.

Larry, both sides get hyper on this, we need to work together to progress. Your open borders crap is just that: yesterday’s news. There are no open borders anymore, not that there ever were, per se. Porus, yes. Open, never. Real issues we pretty much agree on, highlighted by this awful act: 1). IMO, ICE is broken, I don’t want to abolish, but they need drastic reorganization, re-engineering, and re-training. The goal: they need to operate and be held accountable to the same standards as any real police force. 2) Congress needs to take ICE control away from the Oval Office as his private police force to be tasked for anything he likes which he did for our airports and TSA. The President does not get a personal police force, not even the Secret Service is that. 3) this shit about arresting illegal with warrants already on them and letting them go must end. I honestly do not even understand what process makes that happen.
OK, for you: *https://americanskilledbyillegals.org/list-of-americans-killed-by-illegal-immigrants* These guys copied “leftists” who created the first shooting database so powerful that it changed the very way the FBI looks at gun murder, mass murders, and mass shootings, not to mention America. Before this database, there was no tracking of mass shootings, they were not FBI defined. Just like there is no tracking today for immigrant murder. You could be in the vanguard of changing that. Just takes a little programming at this point. Twas simple, they get people to input but require one or two news sources. So self-populated but with sourcing. These guys are doing the same for illegal alien murders.
Unfortunately, while they are creating a long list starting in 2004; they have yet to offer search, sort, and summary capabilities. Maybe you can help; I served my time with the leftists over a decade ago and even have a few entries. The bottom line is they have 1,400 illegal alien murders since 2004; that’s 22 years making it about 58 a year in a country with 23,000 murders a year meaning that if one wanted to make America safer, focusing on natives might be bigger bang, literally, for the buck. Great database and, for you, more anecdotes that you can shake a stick at. Even this one is there. Get them to summary status and you may find some real interesting trends like most are in Chicago might flop out.

Meanwhile, Chicago is indeed safer than ever. 2025 was down 30%. When did you move? Just kidding… Stats Larry, not anecdotes, not emotion. And if this guy is guilty, let’s not deport, because I, for one, am more than willing to spend my tax dollars locking him up for life.

I write a post, Harold WhiteSheeple replies: “I read your bullshit post and it’s so full of lies and propaganda I don’t know where to begin.” It turns out that’s true because when asked, he really is unable to begin, to pick even just one, just like Ben, he backs down. Even though he seems to have proof because he had said: “Much of what you blabbed has already been debunked” so I guess he’s got the stuff but is too shy to share. But he does summon the courage to ask for an apology while blaming Mike for lying too.
We know who the liars are, you huff and puff just like Ben but you and Ben, well, you ain’t got the stuff; you TACO because all you got is bluff.

So, I asked him again to show me the money, show me a lie. Defend your words and yourself.

And the cowardly reply comes back: “it’s up to you to make your case. The truth is that you’re a lying asshole. Prove with witnesses and reliable evidence. Not stupid crap from liberal rags and fake news.” Again, a second time, he can’t support what he says, and just tosses this general bullshit with his double-down that if I do provide evidence, it’s liberally tainted. And he wants witnesses. The guy says it’s all lies, cant even pick one out, won’t accept any evidence, and wants witnesses? TO WHAT — this putz can’t even point out a lie and he says it’s all lies, how weak is that?

OK — I’ll play. The fact stated in my tome was: “Meanwhile, Chicago is indeed safer than ever. 2025 was down 30%.”

“Chicago homicides in 2025 fell to lowest level in 60 years, CPD says.” FOX NEWS

“There were 416 homicides in Chicago last year, which also represents a 29% decrease from 2024, the department said.” FOX NEWS

CPD Supt. Larry Snelling is your witness.

But wait, there’s more from FOX: “Murders in New York City were down more than 20% last year, according to city data. Homicides in Washington, D.C., were down 32%, according to the U.S. Justice Department. San Francisco boasted its lowest homicide rate in 70 years in 2025.”

That’s right boys, Blue cities and yeah —- we really didn’t need the Federal Government to put its Presidential Police force in DC or Chicago.

BUSTED for calling Mike and I liars and not being able to support his own stupid statements, just like Ben.
