Democrats’ Crazy and Dangerous Plans for the Next Congress

I have long conceded that Democrats will take control of the House in 2028 – and have a less than 50/50 chance – but a chance — of taking over the Senate. So, what is on their agenda?

Democrats have not put forth an official platform, but we can know what they would like to do — and are likely to try — from statements by various Democratic Party leaders and organizations.

High on their agenda is to “get Trump.”. The Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) that infected the left-wing establishment starting on Election Day in 2016 has not abated. In fact, it has intensified. Democrats will continue to rely on partisan courts and prosecutors to turn everything Trump does as President into a courts case. In addition, Democrats will be filing Articles of Impeachment like handouts at homeless shelter. Looking past 2028 – as Trump returns to private life – there will be ubiquitous efforts to drag him personally into court on civil and criminal charges. Everything most folks hate about the current political climate, and the current political leaders, will be the standard operating procedures for years to come.

While Trump is the political tar baby from whom his adversaries cannot withdraw, there are other issues on the Democrat plate. California Congressman Ro Khanna has listed five policy goals. They are Medicare for All, a $25 national minimum wage, stronger union protection, a $10-a-day childcare stipend, and cutting off all U.S. aid to Israel. These are all dangerously bad ideas. It is an example just how the radical Bernie Sanders’ policies have been absorbed into the Democratic Party mainstream. Each deserves a point-by-point repudiation – more than is possible in the commentary. But rest assured that each will be addressed in future commentaries by this writer.

Many of the new leaders of the nascent radical left-wing come from the Democrats’ political auxiliary – the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Recognizing their weakness as a free-standing political party, they run as Democrats – the party most closely aligned to their philosophy and which they can best influence. Democrats, such as Pennsylvania’s moderate Senator John Fetterman, have suggested that the DSA folks leave the Democratic Party and run on their own. Of course, that is not going to happen as long as the bulk of Democrat leaders kowtow to their comrades on the far left – as California Governor Newsom did recently.

The DSA has unveiled its latest platform, “Workers Deserve More,” a document so detached from reality that it reads like a manifesto penned by a bunch of left-wing professors after too much vodka.

In checking out the DSA platform, one can see just how bat-poop crazy these radicals are. Among the proposals in the platform are (hope you’re sitting down) abolishing the United States Senate. No, that was not taken from a satirical article in “The Onion”. In my own congressional district in Florida, SDA member, Oliver Larkin, is running to abolish the Senate and remove the power of the Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution.

The SDA platform also calls for the elimination of the Electoral College, prisons, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It grants full voting rights to all immigrants regardless of citizenship – and all convicted felons and prisoners.

They further demand a 32-hour workweek with no loss in pay; support the seizure of major corporations; the imposition of universal rent control; cancellation of all student debt; unconditional amnesty for …. everyone; and the transformation of the Department of Defense (or War, if you prefer) into a “Department of Peace”.

They would defund the police they do not outright abolish. They would make the U.S. House the primary authority – ending the balance of power that has protected democracy for two and a half centuries.

The current radical left Democrat establishment would end the filibuster and pack the Supreme Court with radical left-wing justices – much further left than the liberals who currently sit on the high court.

Men in women’s sports would become the norm. Elections would be conducted without traditional common sense safeguards. And the borders would cease to exist.

They want to end free market capitalism – that has made America the strongest economic power in the world – with socialism – that has brought massive human suffering wherever it has been attempted.

It may be easy to dismiss all this nonsense as impractical and not likely to be enacted. That is probably true of the most insanely outrageous stuff. But there is sufficient radical left-wing power in the current Democratic Party to enact a lot of their crazy proposals. The extreme crazy stuff makes the slightly less crazy stuff seem relatively rational.

If you are inclined to believe that the crazier proposals would not happen, consider men in women’s sports. How crazy is that? It ignores science, biology, logic, fairness, common sense, and overwhelming popular opinion. And yet it is happening throughout the country

Putting Democrats in power in any way at his time – in view of their extreme unhinged positions – would be a huge mistake. But sadly, it is one that it appears many Americans are willing to make.
