Ted Cruz: The reality of mainstream reporters – she wants to destroy you
In an interiew on the Glen Beck show, Ted Cruz told a story about he actually stopped cold a young staffer who commented how “nice” he found a reporter from one of the mainstream media outlets.
“I actually stopped him and I said, ‘You know what? No, she’s not [nice]. She wants to destroy you. Nothing would make her happier than to take your life and filet you on the front pages. And don’t think for a minute that because she smiles and is friendly to you, that it’s anything else,'” related Cruz.
Cruz’s remarks reflect a growing tendency in the media to “pick a team,” go on the attack against and color their reporting from a partisan point of view. Cruz noted recent situation where another candidate was considered “more hispanic” than Cruz even though his father was imprisoned in Cuba, “because there’s nothing that makes you Hispanic like embracing the left-wing amnesty agenda,” said Cruz.
PBP comment, in the age of “infotainment” reporters are forced to find ways to get an audience to respond. Since legitimate scandals or criticisms are tough to find, the infotainment technique is to provoke, confront and twist to create a story where there is none, or to provide a sensational spin to a nominal event. We believe this is a cynical and tragic breakdown of the media as it stands today.
In a National Review op-ed, Cruz said the last 24 hours are the darkest in the nation’s history, referring to the Supreme Court rulings on Obamacare and gay marriage.
“In order to provide the people themselves with a constitutional remedy to the problem of judicial activism and the means for throwing off judicial tyrants, I am proposing an amendment to the United States Constitution that would subject the justices of the Supreme Court to periodic judicial-retention elections,” Cruz wrote. “As a constitutional conservative, I do not make this proposal lightly. … But, sadly, the Court’s hubris and thirst for power have reached unprecedented levels.”
