Trump/DeSantis War Heats Up!

Trump/DeSantis War Heats Up!

Donald Trump has been teasing a 2024 run for days now, and in doing so, he has already taken to attacking his chief rival for the GOP nomination, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. But is that a wise move? And in an all-out war between Trump and DeSantis, is it even clear that Trump will be the victor?

Ron DeSantis’s star has been on the rise in the GOP since his powerful pushback against COVID mandates and lockdowns in Florida. He skyrocketed to a resounding victory on election day, utterly trouncing his Democratic rival, Charlie Crist.

DeSantis’ win was one of the bright spots for the GOP on Election Day, prompting many conservatives to take issue with the former president’s attacks on the Florida Governor.

Trump, who is expected to announce his intention to mount another run at the White any day, has been ribbing the Sunshine State governor incessantly. In addition to referring to him as “Ron DeSanctimonious,” Trump has threatened to dish unflattering information about DeSantis if the governor runs for president. “I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly,” Trump said, according to the Wall Street Journal. “I think the base would not like it.”

DeSantis clobbered Democratic challenger Charlie Crist during Florida’s gubernatorial contest. While Trump said earlier this week that he had voted for DeSantis, the former president issued a lengthy statement in which he targeted the Florida politician, calling him “an average REPUBLICAN Governor.”

“NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations, who didn’t have to close up his State, but did, unlike other Republican Governors, whose overall numbers for a Republican, were just average—middle of the pack—including COVID, and who has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run States up North would go no matter who the Governor was, just like I did!” Trump wrote at the beginning of the long statement.

Many on the right have taken issue with the statement and the mounting grudge between the two top-tier Republicans.

“This is exactly why you’re bleeding extremely staunch supporters like me, Trump. The great Governor has done nothing ‘sanctimonious’ to deserve that super lame nickname, or these lies about his (much better than yours) Covid policies. DeSantis 2024,” tweeted Storm Paglia of Townhall.

“Why? Why do this, man?” Townhall’s Matt Vespa tweeted about Trump’s statement. In another post, he said that the former president “is just self-destructing.”

“I was genuinely excited to see a primary fight between these two. I think that’s what would be best for the country. But apparently, Trump is going to just embarrass himself and go down in flames, and I’ll be honest, it saddens me a little. Not how the Trump era should end,” Jesse Kelly tweeted.

“If Trump is dumb enough to attack the guy EVERY Republican in America is currently happy with, this primary is already over. He’s gonna lose at least half his support to DeSantis overnight,” he added in another tweet.

“Yikes. If this is real, Trump might have just cost himself the primary in 2024,” Justin T. Haskins tweeted.

“I voted for Trump twice and campaigned for him. He did some great things in office. But Trump’s selfishness really hurt us this election, and it’s time to move on from him. He’s playing right into Democrats’ hands right now by attacking DeSantis, and he’s lost me,” Caleb Hull tweeted.

I wish he would act more like a President instead of a high schooler! Every time he disses DiSantis, another Trumper leaves his flock! DJT needs to wise up about this behavior because he is pushing people away from him FAST!

I have always voted for DJT because he does accomplish things and made America strong again! But by talking down about Gov DiSantis, he is NOT LOOKING STRONG AND STABLE! DJT MUST STOP THIS BEHAVIOR NOW OR HE WILL LOSE A SUBSTANTIAL PERCENTAGE OF HIS SUPPORT DATABASE! It’s time to be SMARTER PRESIDENT TRUMP — NO MORE DISSING THE GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA!! Capeche?

Trump is a narcissist and he suffers greatly for it while also making others suffer more. I would vote for DeSantis over Trump any day – and that is the Independent/Unaffiliated point of view! DeSantis is like Trump but with polish, pizzaz, and chutzpah!

can’t vote for trump now. he shows a big problem by going after Desantis now!! His ego is hurting him more and more.
His current actions show me he is not the same as in the past. He can be a positive to the republican party by backing a
    new nominee.

He’s using the tactics that have always worked in elections. DeSantis is saintly right now, and rightfully so, but Trump wants to win.

I liked things Trump did but I never liked how and some of the things he said. I know our fixe income went farther and everything was better but he has a bad habit speaking and not listening to what he is saying and how it effects others.
I like the governor. Need to see what things look like in the future to make my decision. I know it is going to be bad.

Trump is still an adolescent and a bully. He thinks the only way he can look good is to knock everyone else down. Such a child! I will not vote for him this next time around. We need someone like DeSantis who can make bold and intelligent decisions and put up with no crap. Pence is a whimp and doesn’t have the guts to step up and take the initiative. His performance on David Muir’s show last night showed him to be a meek character. He may behave in good character but he does not have the will to take the bull by the horns and run with it. Why didn’t he take action against the rioters? He was useless; just sitting on the sidelines in a defensive posture.

Trump was a good president and his speeches at the United Nations were excellent, if you love freedom that is. But he does have trouble with keeping his mouth shut sometimes, so people that want to be totally controlled by democrat communism and fall for the man made climate change hoax do not like him at all. I lost my respect for Trump when he was still pushing the poison poke even after so many have been harmed and killed by it. I wish he would step aside and support DeSantis. I kind of understand Trumps feelings about the way things turned out with with the last presidential election as I feel our country was overthrown by tremendous evil and Trump should have won easily. Lets face it, our country is toast! It is just a matter of time now until the evil finishes taking her down using the democrat party through stolen elections and the green agenda designed to destroy our economy and make us all dependent on the evil for our daily bread if we comply that is.

I do not believe in a war between Trump and Ron DeSantis – they are both smart people, unlike Obama and Biden. But I choose Trump!

WHAT YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT TRUMP IS THAT BECAUSE OF HSI BUSINESS BACKGROUND HE HAS TO BE “STREET SMART” . REAL ESTATE IS LIKE DEALING WITH A SHARK SAYING “DON’T BITE ME”. THE SAME APPLIES TO XI, PUTIN , N. KOREA’S ROCKET MAN, IRAN, THE TALIBAN, THE SAUDI’S AND ALL OTHER REGIMES THAT ARE HOSTILE. THEY KNEW HE MEANT WHAT HE SAID AND KEPT PEACE FOR HIS TERM,NO WARS, NO INVASIONS. I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY IF TRUMP AND DE SANTIS DON’T RUN TOGETHER THE DEMS WILL WIN. THEY’RE TRYING TO DIVIDE AND CONQUER AND IF BOTH OF THEM TRUELY CARE ABOUT AMERICA THEY WOULD TEAM UP AND BE UNSTOPPABLE. DE SANTIS IS UP AND COMING BUT TRUMP HAS ALREADY DONE SO MUCH FOR AMERICA,GOOGLE HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT NO OTHER PRESIDENT WAS ABLE TO DO.WE’RE ALL GETTING OLDER AND IF BY CHANCE SOMETHING HAPPENED TO TRUMP DE SANTIS WOULD HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE ON THE WORLD STAGE AND WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE OVER .
