Drug Dealers as Slave Masters?

Drug Dealers as Slave Masters?

A 2015 law in Britain has been repurposed. The Modern Slavery Act was originally supposed to prosecute traffickers of Vietnamese women and children.

But a drug dealer in Britain was recently prosecuted under this law, not for smuggling women and children, but for using a 16-year-old to run drugs. 16-year-olds are not subject to adult laws.

It makes a strange sense to me. 14 to 17-year-olds are a primary labor force at the bottom of the drug dealer network. The drug dealers are certainly not their parents. They are in effect, slaves, who have no further option once they enter that life. And of course, that leads to an adult life of crime.

Attempting to charge drug dealers with child abuse would be a logical step since they are essentially committing crimes at the behest of an adult. But the Modern Slavery Act seems to cover the domination of children for abusive purposes.

I would love to see something like this in the U.S.

It seems to be accepted that addiction is a form of slavery, even if there is no slave master except the likes of heroin, or cocaine. But the addict is beholden to the dealer. And drug dealers don’t seem to have any objection to addicting children to their poison. I would love to see additional legislation that prosecutes drug dealers for child abuse, or slavery, or anything else that
reflects the destruction of the lives of children from this.

But America seems to be drifting toward the legalization of hard drugs. For example, Oregon has decriminalized possession of any and all drugs for amounts considered to be for “personal use.” Biden wants to release thousands of drug dealers from prison. Hard drugs are more and more a factor in high schools, children are known to have experienced drugs at younger and younger ages.

But liberals don’t care about the lives lost and the suffering from addiction. The New York Times seems to want to focus – not on the lives of the children affected – but on how unfair this is to black people in Britain who are affected by this.

Sure guys, this is a racist issue.

“But liberals don’t care about the lives lost and the suffering from addiction. ” Saying it don’t make it true.

“Biden wants to release thousands of drug dealers from prison” is just fear mongering of the worst kind. I have no issue with releasing pot dealers, you have no proof except allegations, that Biden has done nothing but that.
    is.

“children are known to have experienced drugs at younger and younger ages.” has been said since the 70’s; are we in the womb yet?

I have no issue with your premise to harden laws about under-age trafficking. I really just don’t think you need the fear mongering and partisan hyperbole to make your points. Not on this one. They just diminish the strength of your argument.
