
The Illegality of Christianity: Huckabee to Hold Protest For Kim Davis
Former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is holding a rally to protest Kim Davis’ imprisonment on a contempt charge. Kim Davis, a court clerk from Kentucky, was taken into custody yesterday for refusing to issue a marriage license for a same-sex couple.
“What a world, where Hillary Clinton isn’t in jail but Kim Davis is,” Huckabee tweeted after Davis was jailed.
The rally, called the “I’m With Kim Liberty Rally” will be held in Kentucky on Sept. 8.
“I’m very steadfast in what I believe. I don’t leave my conscience and my Christian soul out in my vehicle and come in here and pretend to be something I’m not,” said Kim prior to her incarceration.
The Clerk’s defence of her religion has garnered the support of numerous politicians. Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker and Rand Paul have all issued statements of support
“I think it’s absurd to put someone in jail for exercising their religious liberty,” Paul said in an interview after the decision.
Kim Davis, as an elected official, cannot be fired. However, she will face possible impeachment later this year.
