Ted Cruz Introduces Bill to Stop Obama's Executive Amnesty from Being Funded By Legal Immigration
Texas Senator Ted Cruz introduced a bill to stop Obama from using fees from legal immigrants to fund his executive amnesty plan for illegal immigrants.
Labeled the Immigration Slush Fund Elimination Act, the bill would forbid the use of fees from legal immigrants from being used to pay for the ongoing naturalization surge. These fees make available over $1 Billion for amnesty for illegal aliens according to USCIS CFO Joseph Moore.
The bill would return these funds to Congressional control and prevent the Obama administration from raising fees on legal immigrants to fund his highly criticized program.
Legal immigrants, i.e. those who come through the front door, not sneak in the back, go through a lengthy and comprehensive process that can take up to ten years. Reform of this process has not materialized despite much discussion.
Cruz said “America has always been a land of refuge and opportunity for those seeking freedom, and we should champion legal immigration. Ronald Reagan referred to legal immigrants, immigrants like my father, as Americans by choice. The federal government should not be in the business of looting the wallets of those who followed the law and came here legally to fund the President’s illegal and unconstitutional amnesty. This bill will cut off DHS’s credit card and put Congress back in charge of funding the agencies responsible for immigration.”
Breitbart notes how amnesty is funded by a wealth transfer from the legal to the illegal in typical Obama fashion.
