Romanian Conservative Scores Election Victory to the Left’s Humiliation

Despite their malicious efforts to stop the conservative rise in the country, the globalist leftists in Romania were defeated decisively in the first round of the recent national election. George Simion, described as “hard-right” and “far right” in leftist media, received nearly twice as many votes as the leading leftist candidate.

George Simion of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) got nearly 41% of the votes in the first round of the presidential election held on Sunday (May 4). Simion’s main political rival Nicusor Dan, the liberal mayor of Bucharest since 2020, secured about 21% of the vote in Sunday’s election. The two presidential candidates now head to the second and final round of the presidential race with all indicators pointing at Simion’s landslide victory.

But will the globalist left come up with some other conspiracy plot to take victory away from Simion, just like they did six months ago with another conservative candidate?

In November 2024, conservative candidate Calin Georgescu – who ran as an Independent candidate – secured a major victory in the first round of the presidential election. Like Simion, Georgescu also secured nearly 41% of the vote. But the globalist leftists in the country decided to cancel his victory by raising allegations of Russian interference in the election. The country’s so-called Constitutional Court, which leans left, interjected and annulled the results of the election.

Robbed of his victory but certain of his support among the people, Georgescu decided to run again in the presidential election rescheduled for May. But the left, scared of his popularity, had a vicious plan to stop him from running. Before he could submit his candidacy papers for the rescheduled election, Georgescu was arrested in February this year, while the Orwellian regime also raided many members and workers who ran his political campaign.

In March, Georgescu submitted his candidacy papers, but the country’s leftist election bureau rejected his application and disqualified him from running for the President’s office. The so-called Constitutional Court upheld the bureau’s decision and thus victory was stolen in broad daylight by the globalist left that knew it could not beat Georgescu at the ballot.

After Georgescu’s path to victory was blocked, he endorsed George Simion for President and the country’s conservative majority at once became united in their support for the new fiercely conservative candidate. For his conservative and nationalist views and his opposition of the globalist left, Simion has repeatedly been called a MAGA-inspired Romanian far-right politician. BBC and other sources have described him as an admirer of Donald Trump.

Simion himself has recently stated that he advocates Romania First just like President Trump stands for America First.

Simion’s victory is being celebrated with enthusiasm by the conservative majority in the country, who reject the destructive liberal values of the left-dominated European Union (EU). The conservative X account Daily Romania, celebrated Simion’s victory by posting: “May 18th we can make the decision to save our nation with George Simion!”

With more than a week before the final round of the election and given the cancellation of Georgescu’s victory, one can only imagine the globalist left’s next move to keep Romania under their control.
