Putin making a chump of Trump

Putin making a chump of Trump

On March 5, 2025, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy agreed to a ceasefire plan proposed and negotiated with President Trump.  The only thing left was for Russian madman Vladimir Putin to agree.  At the time, Trump said he expected such an agreement in the near future. “Near future” has long gone.

While I have strongly disagreed with Trump’s appeasement plan, I understand his sincerity in wanting to stop the killing of so many young soldiers and innocent civilians.  Putin’s refusal to enter into a cease fire – and his brutal attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population –should have Trump enraged.  He said he was displeased with Putin’s attacks on Ukraine.  He has threatened sanctions and the resumption of arms for Ukraine, but so far, it has only been talk.

It seems obvious that Putin is operating on his own agenda and timetable.  Minimally, he wants to take more land before entering into peace talks.  Personally, I believe Putin still is minimally seeking a way to topple the Zelenskyy government in favor of a more friendly regime – and eventually absorb Ukraine into Russia.  No cease fire agreement will end that ambition.  He will obviously do whatever it takes.

Putin is literally making a chump of Trump – and proving he is better at the art of the deal than the self-proclaimed master.  Trump’s patience with Putin now smacks of weakness. In the absence of an agreement, Putin will continue to use his military superiority to pound Ukraine into submission.

Even if Putin agrees to come to the negotiating table, you can rest assured that he will drag out the discussions ad infinitum – ad nauseam.   And his attack on Ukraine will continue unabated.  Trump talks about sanctions on Russia, but he has already taken up President Biden’s too little/too late approach.

Trump should prove himself again to be a person of determination.   He should IMMEDIATELY impose harsh sanctions on Russia … ban the purchase of Russian oil … and go back to providing Ukraine with all the weapons and support they need to blunt the Russian invasion and take the offensive.

Trump may save more lives by defeating Putin than by allowing this war to drag on and enabling Putin to mount another invasion in the future.

I suppose it is too much to ask for to have Trump revise his strategy from peace through appeasement to one of actual victory – the defeat of Russia and the removal of Putin’s military from all of Ukraine.  And NATO membership for Ukraine should be a prerequisite — non-negotiable.

Short of that, Putin will win by attrition over the next decade.  A ceasefire will only put Putin’s ambitions on temporary hold – and give him an opportunity to rebuild his broken military.

Trump may be able to get Putin to the negotiating table.  He may even be able to secure a cease fire/peace agreement.  But it will have no more meaning than the 1939 Munich Agreement with Adolf Hitler.  Putin’s history of broken agreements and promises gives strong evidence that he assumes the Hitler approach – leaving Trump to be Neville Chamberlain.

So, there ‘tis.

Trump truly is being made to be a chump by Putin.
He’s big on spending a trillion dollars on building up of the military, but fails to stand tough against a long time enemy.
How anguished is Trump over Putin’s war against Ukraine when his talk means nothing to Putin. Trump will be long gone and Putin will continue his terrorizing and fear mongering
Trump is intimidated by Putin. Putin is having fun dishing out the same kind of mean spirited narcissist personality that is quintessential Trump. Putin’s sarcastic half grin speaks for itself. Trump does not impressed Putin. In person negotiations will not achieve freedom for Ukraine. Putin only understands the message sent by military defeat on the battle field.
Convincing Putin to concede to a cease fire and seriously negotiate peace with Ukraine is as difficult as converting you, Larry, away from your political beliefs and life long walk on the conservative side of the political street. In your case, your ideals could be beaten into extinction and found impossibly ignorant. Still, you wouldn’t budge from your opinions about Democrats
Putin will not budge either from his position . The only thing ever going to separate him is death. Peace in Ukraine has no chance unless Putin is gone or held against his will.in solitary confinement.
Defeat utterly and complete is convicting but anything less than that Putin is going to stay put.
Trump substitutes piles of cash for grit and guts, in other terms it’s called balls. Putin sees Trump doesn’t possess the hardness of balls required when facing off with Putin, or China, and N. Korea.
Chump may be too weak a word.
Trump makes bad choices even if he was able to “read a room” and change like a chameleon and fake it.
He will fake it now because he is out of his depth going up against Putin. Putin is able to smellTrump’s fear and aversion to loosing.

Chamberlain signed the Munich accord which gave away the German-speaking part of my homeland, Czechoslovakia which was overturned after WWII. After the Velvet Revolution, my homeland became Slovakia, but I still cared.

Chamberlain signed the Munich appeasement accord Sept 9, 1938. He entered the war a few days post the invasion of Poland a year later, September 3, 1939, and resigned in May of 1940.

Trump is not Chamberlain. Chamberlain entered the war two days after Hitler’s first attack and one year post the appeasement accord. Chamberlain never backed down from an active war. Putin’s claim IS the same as Hitler’s claim of what language you speak determines a country’s boundary, but Trump is not Chamberlain. Chamberlain never ran from an ongoing fight. Chamberlain entered the war two days after Hitler’s first attach on Europe. Not England, but Europe. The US waited until Pearl Harbor day’s Japanese attack on Hawaii whereupon we declared War on Japan. Still took a couple of days to add Germany….

Chamberlain never left the Kurds to hang, or anyone.
Chamberlain didn’t telegraph his withdrawal plans to the Taliban and the world
Chamberlain did not use a chat group to tell friends and family about his next bombing run

I am sorry Larry, but I see this as more, much more, than pulling a Chamberlain. Glad to see you upset about a Trump policy. One. It’s a start. Try habeas corpus denials next.

    Tommy just loves me.
Sorry, Tommie, I don’t roll that way. Think you do though as much as you mention it.
Why don’t you just go back to kicking the dog.

y’all are idiots, ones I suspect have never undertaken a high level negotiation.

You can not expect to negotiate with anyone by coming into that negotiation with a Take-It-Or-Leave-It policy, or, for that matter, with an attitude that one of the other parties is the worst person ever.

You won’t EVER get any deal done that way. And both Putin AND Zelensky are as amateurish as you all are.

Ukraine is NOT our war. It’s closer to Europe’s war, but not even that.

If it is anyone’s war, it is the U.N.’s war. Wasn’t that body formed to stop wars of territorial aggression?

But all you learned erudite’s pass on that one, dontcha?

    Idiots.

Larry, You act surprised that Trump is being taken advantage of? Trump is (and always has been) a chump. He cannot make ‘deals’ because people with any understanding of who he is don’t trust him (which goes to show how many people in the US have no understanding of who he is-yourself included). He made a terrible deal in Afghanistan, then made it so much worse by removing the vast majority of our soldiers before fomenting a disastrous protest and finally leaving office, withdrew us from the Iran deal which he is now trying to ‘renegotiate’ (fat chance), aligned himself with the wannabe dictators (and actual ones), Putin, Bukele, Orban and Netanyahoo. Now that he has returned, he is causing grievous harm in relations with our allies, by threatening to take over their countries and territories, plus the ridiculous on again/off again tariffs. How long is it going to take you to fess up that the man that you eagerly voted into office is a dumb effing turd and the so-called Rinos were the smart Republicans?

Trump is quick with his pushing responsibility on Biden and Democrats for his own mistakes in judgment and knee jerk diplomacy. His assessment of potentially explosive situations is amateurish and undisciplined.
Trump does not accept advice or counsel from experience professional strategists who have been in on negotiations with Afghanistan, Israel, Putin, and more. Trump thinks his NY Real Estate deal bluster and his POTUS status will work in every instance. But, Trump is Trump his brand proceeds him. His double impeachment for Illegal dealings with Zelensky in his first term, his legal conviction for paying hush money and attempted coverup, are realities he won’t accept. He has spun away his legal entanglements while rambling on to Republicans in his campaign speeches.
He has made his past infractions taboo subjects not to be mentioned, or else. However, other parties around the world in high places remember who Trump is, what he has done, and are not afraid of him when he walks in the room.
Putin continually plays him like a fiddle which produces a tune Trump doesn’t get. No one dares clue Trump in on Putin’s tricks. Fact is, a habitual scammer and seasoned conman can be fooled by another accomplished scammer and notorious conman.Trump being the one up against Putin and Putin is the other.
Putin is little moved by Trump bumping up his military budget by 1/4 Trillion dollars. Putin invests that amount and more. Putin also stages an impressive military parade on May Day. But, Trump wants a parade like Putin’s at a cost over 90,000,000 which will not impress Putin either. Putin intends on winning and taking control of Ukraine by whatever means and he is not in a big hurry. He is not concerned with numbers of casualties.
When Trump alleges he is driven to want peace because of lives lost or distraction done to Ukraine culture he is flying false flags and Putin knows it. Trump is Trump in every deal and transaction he is involved in. He is after what is in it for himself and greater Powers he has to wield.
Trump only plays fair when his hands are tied and he is forced to act fairly. He understands nothing about justice under the law, only ways that he can dodge justice or escape it all together.
People in the country who chose Trump and put our nations welfare in his care, they bought into his scheme as sold to them before the election in 2016 and again in 2024. Both elections opened a big money chest. A funding source unlike any Trump had seen and had been given ready access to with the strike of his signature. Every Executive Order he signs and order he gives Musk has dollar signs and several zeros behind that Trump/Musk bank on redistributing in wealth to the wealthy.
Programs funded by Congress and needed by the 80% ( possibly 99%) are cut and funds diverted for the wealthiest 1% and tax revenue lost under Trump’s planned lower tax on the rich.
Putin knows Trump and he is informed about the events TRUMP has stirred since January 20th 2025.
And Putin is who Putin is, he is smart, evil, and he is cunning.to the extreme. Trust Putin to be his worst in Ukraine.
Diplomacy does not commence when it Chump and Putin in the same room. Chump’s room reading faculties are short circuited in Putin’s presence.
