MSNBC’s Primetime Ratings Worse Than Ever Since Trump’s 2nd Inauguration
The flagship of the leftwing woke media – MSNBC – has seen its already dismal ratings drop to their lowest ever within the weeks of the second Trump administration.
Despite the busy month of major news, MSNBC averaged only 63,000 demo viewers between the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET to finish No. 31 among cable offerings. By comparison, Fox News Channel averaged 353,000 demo viewers during primetime, and ratings-challenged CNN even managed an average of 118,000 demo viewers, almost double that of MSNBC.
Most notably, MSNBC’s primetime lineup finished with its smallest January audience ever among the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults aged 25-54.
DePauw University professor Jeffrey McCall said advertisers typically want to do business with networks that deliver viewers from the key demo.
“Advertisers seek the 25-54 demo because media consumers in that age range generally have money to spend and are not necessarily locked into brand loyalties. Younger demos have less discretionary money to spend, and older demos are more established in their consumerism habits,” McCall told Fox News Digital.
“The 25-54 consumers are buying cars, renovating their houses, buying clothes for kids, and basically having to spend their money to live their lives. And they are more open to trying new products or services,” McCall added. “That’s why advertisers target this age group so specifically.”
MSNBC’s struggling primetime lineup features “Inside with Jen Psaki” at 8 p.m. ET on Mondays, with “All In with Chris Hayes” occupying that timeslot the rest of the week. Rachel Maddow, who famously cut “The Rachel Maddow Show” to once a week in 2022 to pursue other projects despite her enormous salary, is filling the 9 p.m. ET timeslot each weekday for the first 100 days of the Trump administration, but “Alex Wagner Tonight” occupied that timeslot for much of the month and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” closes things out.
TV Land, Lifetime, Freeform, E!, Syfy, BET, Paramount, Hallmark Channel, AMC, FXX, Investigation Discovery, History, Nick-at-Nite, MTV, Discovery, Comedy Central, A&E, HGTV, FX, Adult Swim, Food Network, Bravo, ESPN 2, TLC, TBS, TNT, USA and ESPN all also outperformed MSNBC in the demo during the news-heavy month.
All in all, MSNBC finished behind 26 different cable options in the crucial demo.
“Networks with poor showings in the 25-54 demo will appeal to a narrower range of advertisers and likely have to discount their advertising rates,” McCall said.
Earlier this month, MSNBC president Rashida Jones stepped down from her position after running the liberal network for nearly four years.
I don’t see the tis so this must really be Joe or really be who Joe really is……. which means he stole Larry’s thunder, stepped on the Horist obsession with reporting the needless, that little pool of viewers we call cable news, not to be confused with network news, internet news, print news, and more.

Now, this is anecdotal, just me, but I really cut back in Sept/Oct as our rah-rah got to be too much of the McGovern moment I talked about and the other side was just pure hate against a third world American depiction, over the top and all the time. Post inauguration, I tried a few times but seems planes are falling out of the skies caused by DEI, not ruling out military force while talking taking greenland, panama canal, extinguishing all palestinians from gaza, iron domes, deportation roundups looking like the Germans gathering the Jews, renaming everything, all funding cut, security clearances gone, active threat protections removed, troops marching on the border, fires burning ignited by Democrats, and worse. Yeah, somehow the phrase, please sir, might I have some more just didn’t register. So, I have tuned out.
I think I am typical of a lot of MSNBC watchers. Meanwhile, if you are Trump, this is your time, and what better places to find out than Truth Social and FOX. Who couldn’t imagine ratings going up. Tis the circle of life, mate, always will be.
Meanwhile, I did note Rachel is back and I have to wonder how much bigger can that paycheck be. But since she went “novella,” she’s not been my cup of tea either. Maybe in a bit she will get back to current events without all the obscure history tangents. O’Donnell is TDS on steroids, good, but tedious after awhile. And, like Scarborough, or Horist, them leaving on their past experience is getting old, even older for Horist or O’Donnell who have not practiced in decades. Think Horist’s last client was Enron……just kidding. My last product came out in this century at least, but almost two decades ago now….. old and in the waaaaaaay, hair has turned to gray…..
MSNBC is in the crapper, trying to find itself, resynch, and come back. Not yet.

In September 2024, the GBI CEACC Unit began an investigation into online activity after receiving a Cyber Tipline Report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. This investigation led to a search warrant for his home and his subsequent arrest. The Dade County Sheriff’s Office, the Trenton Police Department, and the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Calhoun assisted with the search warrant and arrest of Roberts.

Personally, I do not care about TV ratings. I think most news outlet ratings lost ballast after the election because many of us just got on with our normal lives and use the time for news to do something more productive. So this is a nothing article to me.
As far as MSNBC goes, I watch them and others. So far, MSNBC seems to be reporting the same truth as Bloomberg, The Economist, Aljazeer, and BBC. So I don’t understand the bashing of MSNBC. Must be a Trump MAGA and Horist thing.
