Maybe Trump Should Pull ICE Out of Minnesota

Whether you think ICE is doing a good job or not, you have to admit that the optics are bad. The radical left has been successful in promoting violent protests by labeling ICE as a Nazi Gestapo – and selling their hyperbolic and mostly bogus anti-ICE narrative to a large segment of the gullible public.

Perhaps President Trump should order a change in strategy. He should pull all ICE agents out of Minnesota as Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have demanded – and out of California, if Governor Gavin Newsom makes similar demands.

In announcing this change of strategy, Trump can reaffirm his right and authority to send them. But in view of the state’s leaders promoting insurrection by inciting public protest and violence – endangering ICE agents and interfering with their operations – he has decided to withdraw all ICE activities in Minnesota.

Trump would take similar action in any city or state in which local leaders oppose ICE agents in their communities and mobilize elements of the public to actively interfere with and attack agents.

In announcing this change of policy, Trump would point out that ICE resources can be better and more effectively used in states and communities where local leadership requests or accepts such help – and where local law enforcement will be supportive. In communities where courts and sheriff’s offices will support turning over criminal illegal aliens to ICE and take action against rioters.

ICE can be more effective in removing illegal aliens – removing more – where the local political leadership is cooperative. In states like Minnesota, the mission to remove illegal aliens is undermined by the need to protect ICE personnel and facilities. It requires the deployment of agents who would be more effective in other locales. Basically, more illegal aliens would be deported from America by not deploying an excessive number of agents in states where their mission is thwarted by hostile political leadership and the mobs they produce.

ICE agents would remain out of states like Minnesota until Walz, or his replacement, makes a specific request for ICE support — and assures the cooperation of local courts and police.

Of course, the new policy comes with some serious downsides – in the spirit of being careful what you ask for. There is likely to be an uptick in crimes committed by illegal aliens. The criminals would no longer be removed from the streets of Minnesota and Minneapolis. Without the fear of ICE, the criminal class will be more emboldened.

Recognizing Minnesota as a safer place for criminal activities will entice criminals to settle there – just as sanctuary cities have been the loci for the drug cartels, the gangs and the most dangerous criminals who have crossed America’s southern border illegally

Trump could have the Department of Justice maintain a public ledger of the crimes committed in Minnesota by illegal criminal migrants and publish it each month. These are crimes that might not have occurred if ICE had been allowed to remove the criminals from the streets.

The removal of ICE agents would not impact on FBI operations in the state. It would not end any DOJ investigations of the massive welfare fraud in Minnesota.

Yes, pulling ICE out of Minnesota — and potentially out of other states – is a wild idea. But it would greatly reduce the demonization of ICE. It would end all those bad optics confrontations. There would be no more hyperbolic political narratives about Gestapo tactics. It would be a win for Trump – and ironically a win for Walz and Frey, and a win for the mobs who brought violence to the streets. The big winners, however, would be the criminal aliens who Walz and Frey have protected. The lonely losers would be the rational law-aiding people of Minnesota – and they would have only their elected leaders like Walz and Frey to blame.

So, there ‘tis.

That would open the doors to lawlessness because of law enforcement being branded as Nazis ect. I say enforce the laws and uphold the constitution The democrats know only fear. They can’t win on issues. Only lying and cheating. And Dunger is a great example.

Warren, please prove my lies; any will do. And WTF do you mean calling me a cheater. You seem unclear and unable to articulate your findings against me.

FYI: I have often said enforce the law. Punish offenders. That includes ICE.

I think Larry’s idea is an innovative win-win letting ICE arrest at the same rate. TX has a lot of undocumented, MN has far less.

Larry, I liked this piece and am glad to see you look for a win-win. About time. I agree with your conclusion, not sure about all the puts and takes. Win-win may be a wild idea, but I think it’s a way forward without as much unnecessary friction.

The issue is these guys are unprofessional and seem to have a unprofessional culture as well. Perhaps fit for border patrol, but not our city streets and residential neighborhoods. At least, blue ones. As they rush to hire `10,000 more, your concept of “with big government, comes big problems” will only make matters worse I gather we can both agree.

Better yet: just get no-Johnson Johnson to bring the Republican, with Democratic support, E-Verify bill to a vote and we can end this with less budge, less death and harm, and only a few undocumented workers left in America under-the-table cash workers mostly. Better have some travel as no-work, no can stay, so they must leave and may need a ride. We could end in months what Trump cannot do in four years.

On the puts and takes: when you say: “radical left has been successful in promoting violent protests by labeling ICE as a Nazi Gestapo – and selling their hyperbolic and mostly bogus anti-ICE narrative to a large segment of the gullible public,” you just have to know that Joe Rogan is one of the head cheerleaders of that sentiment. A number of MAGAites agree with Rogan, he’s not a Republican rogue. A sentiment that has been around since well before 2020. I resisted until Rogan made it fashionable. Why? Well, they are secret masked police, often warrantless no-knock assaults, aggressive, often unlawful, oppressive and fear-inducing for, as Trump has said: “makes for great TV.” And they always film their exploits of oppression. Their language alone is totally off base and unprofessional. Screaming “fucking bitch” at an unarmed woman after she is shot in the face multiple time is ripe for investigation for civil rights abuse. There’s a number of these where they could be more professional just by shutting their mouths.

Remember what Reagan said, you know, the good one, Frank… We hold our police to higher standards than the general public because they hold the gun and the power, and with great power comes…… Tis the job.

Also, as you foisted inflation on Biden even after he hit a rate lower than Trump today, the “gullible” public really isn’t. They see what they see, feel what they feel and just because Biden brought inflation down, price drops take longer and no amount of his explaining would change what they saw with their own eyes, and wallets. Likewise, the ICE horror pictures we see just keep coming. Now it’s a citizen’s door busted down, he’s hauled out in boxers, crocs, and a small blanket, ZERO degrees, driven around for a few hours until they figure out: wrong address. No apology even and certainly did not fix the door. It appears the shooter Ross will not even be investigated, so what would you say if Biden hid this like he hid Hunter and the Epstein files, a fact that helped Trump get elected. Until we know who said: “fucking bitch,” this case deserves investigation as a potential civil rights case.

Ross, and others, are well trained, experienced but ex-military. My contention is that military training, and the culture stemming from it does not fit with modern domestic policing. That’s why my kids used “Gestapo” during Obama. But fuhgit about it Jake, it’s the border is what I said. Now the have come inside the border, and need to act like professional police and a military training and culture is the antithesis of domestic policing. I think, like the LA police before Rodney King, ICE needs re-training and a culture shift. Given the surge of 10,000 new agents, some of who will no doubt be 1/6/2021 felon-patriots, and others who can’t get a real police job, I do not think we are heading for a better place.

So, I think your ideal is marvelous. Trump can’t hit his numbers anyway, can’t cover 50 states, why not focus on states that want this and leave the blue states to their own demise. Meanwhile, if I were ICE command, I would look to what LA Police did post Rodney King and deploy better culture shifts and training.

    Win-win.

Here’s what happened in LA, although some disagreement on how well it worked. In response to the crisis, Mayor Tom Bradley appointed the Christopher Commission to investigate LAPD practices, revealing patterns of misconduct and racial bias mandating significant changes, including revising use-of-force policies, eliminating chokeholds, implementing mandatory reporting of misconduct, increasing diversity, and adopting community policing strategies, with bodies like the University of Richmond noting partial effectiveness in reducing bias and force. New procedures for investigating and adjudicating use-of-force incidents were established, along with training in de-escalation and implicit bias. Basically, LAPD reimagined itself as guardian police over search and destroy missions.

As always, I am a frank danger.

Larry, while I totally agree with your premise, your backup for it is one big lie. Walz is promoting insurrection? Promoting violent protest? Even someone as blind as you knows that wording is totally untrue and you are using those words to stir up your ignorant readers (more division is better for republicans-that’s your philosophy). I am sure that your great state of Florida (with all its Cuban immigrants) and texass will be glad to see more ICE activity-that way we can see more protests from people that supported the orange turd and perhaps even get krusty gnome fired so she can do what she does best-shooting dogs that recognize a loser when they see one…

MF; one good thing came out of this. ICE proved that guys in MN walk around the house in boxers and crocs! I have felt guilty for years! No more. Boxer livers and lovers unite! Living at 75 degrees in the North while burning less oil, more renewable, less pollution works and you are not alone. Boxer on! We be living the dream. Even in MN!!! TY ICE for removing my guilt and replacing it with yours!!!! I have spent thousands and 30 years sealing and dealing with my great room and by George, I think I got it. Truth be told, I did put a t-shirt on when -4 out.

Free Iceland, no Greenland. Stop drugs from VZ, no free VZ, no, steal the oil. Free the Epstein files like you liars said you would. Investigate Ross for shooting her in the face after no chance of imminent harm.

Let’s see a scintilla of transparency and enough of being opaque.

Optics should not influence policy. Unless there is reason in LAW to let some stay, all illegals should be deported. Anything else is misplaced compassion or socialism. If some protesters are willing to become martyrs, that’s their problem.

There do need to be consequences for politicians and jurisdictions that are obstructionist.

Never, in the recorded history of the world, has appeasement been a successful strategy.
Appeasing the crazies in Minnesota would only encourage them to spread their insanity to the rest of the country.

2w: not true. But more important, check out polling like from PEW, most Americans want criminals out but feel Trump gone too far with the undocumented without further crimes over the misdemeanor. Big divide tween maga and Dems. Indy’s side with Dems.

Has nothing to do with appeasement; if you want to spend time and money fighting whistleblowers, that’s on you. If you want a free hand to profile the brown people, then stay out of Ill. CA, and MN. But most Americans feel you are going too far, are overly aggressive. and cruel, fear investigation so bury evidence. hide the shooters.

But bring it on; shoot some more unarmed housewives, toss more half naked men into the snow, or gas some whistleblowing phone filmers. These folks are coming on strong at zero degrees; just like Valley Forge. They were called unpatriotic for pushing back against a King too.

We are NOT having an investigation. “YOU” are investigating yourselves and “YOU” have already pre-judged the victim as a gun-brandishing domestic terrorist so we already pre-know the outcome.

Your own eyes can show you: 1) he is not “brandishing” a gun before the take-down by a group of Federal someones; that his legal concealed weapon seems to be pulled from the “scrum,” and then, it appears, that two agents, at least, pumped 10 bullets, at least into him, many into a lifeless body that quivers with the impact.

Yeah, patriots, sure. We stand up when they say: stand down. You attack the winter people in the dead of winter. Smart move Kingsmen. Just like Hitler and the Russian winter debacle.

Minnesota has 10% of the undocumented that Texas has. one tenth of what Florida has. By population percentage, they rank 23rd in the nation. Even if you believe they all must go: you are wasting your money by prioritizing MN ahead of TX, FL, and 20 other states. It’s all for show, and you know it. Just get Walz, he’s on the “list.”

And your delight at this tragedy against your perceived enemies and fellow citizens, a freaking ICU nurse for the VA, our true patriots, should be revisited upon you tenfold. That’s a low, subhuman, lack of compassion, empathy, and fairness under the law. These guys are violating the Constitution all over the place, starting with the 4th amendment of unreasonable search and seizure. They have a directive to void the need for warrants, there’s a memo stipulating it. That means our Bill of Rights is down to nine rights, not ten. Some patriot you are to void the Bill of Rights, in writing, in actions.

How you can cheer a victim’s needless death is inhuman. These guys are untrained, unprofessional, and criminals, under our laws. Send the thugs to red states where they are wanted.

  8. Uncle tom

Get over yourself Dunger. An investigation is being conducted. But if retard joe Biden hadn’t allowed millions of illegal wetbacks enter the country we wouldn’t be going through this shit. The idiots harassing the ICE patriots should be helping round them up. Why can’t people apply to enter the country legally? It’s proof that you commiecrats don’t care about the law. But keep up the good work. Every time your idiots get shot it’s the fault of the so called protesters.
