MAGA Ire Hits as Senator Thune Stops Recess Appointments
Congress has started its annual August recess and the MAGA base has drawn its daggers of criticism out for Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota with many calling for his removal over his move to stop Trump from single-handedly making recess appointments.
By the end of last month, conservatives were widely sharing their anxiety over Thune’s decision to keep the Senate in session and attempt to confirm Trump’s appointees via the regular voting procedure. Many prominent conservatives on social media even called out Thune for obstructing Trump’s push to put conservatives in federal offices at the earliest.
Thune was reportedly giving conservatives the hope that recess appointments were on the table, which means letting President Trump bypass the voting process for confirmation while the Senate is in recess and appoint his picks using his presidential authority.
But then Thune dropped the hammer on MAGA hopes for Trump’s potential recess appointments as he announced on Friday (August 1), holding pro-forma sessions with no business conducted on multiple dates and times throughout the month. The pro-forma sessions effectively keep the Senate in session while being in recess so that the President is not able to make recess appointments.
Thune’s announcement of holding these sessions throughout the month unleashed the brewing backlash from MAGA conservatives. Raw Story reported (August 3):
A decision by Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to schedule pro forma sessions throughout the August recess which will, in effect, stop Donald Trump from making any recess appointments, has set off a firestorm among the president’s MAGA followers.
The story cited Sean Davis of The Federalist, commenting that both Thune and Mike Johnson are deliberately obstructing Trump’s nominees and agenda by holding these sessions during the congressional recess.
Many conservatives labelled Thune as a sellout and a traitor and called for his resignation.
Of course, there are those calling for Thune to be primaried next year so his political career is buried.

It is the job and responsibility of Congress to approve these appointments. The King can only do it when Congress not available as in an emergency. Not as standard process as this King is want to do.

Get Congress to do their job and keep the King in check as the Founders intended and as enshrined in our Constitution.

As to what a King is versus a Constitutional Federal Republic, let’s start with Don himself as he took credit for ending congestion pricing in NYC. Don’s social media message, written by Don, said: ““CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED, LONG LIVE THE KING!”

Uh, do you need more? Simple stated, a King is anointed from God to rule and rules accordingly. We are a Republic, governed by representatives from each State to be operationalize by our President. Any time that our Felon King takes authority from the Courts or Congress and makes his own laws —- tis King.
How about tariffs; are they not taxation without representation given that taxes are the province of Congress. I would think that one would gall you.
How about voiding the rule of law, having your own secret police, unidentified masked men, on instructions from the King, disappear people, guilty and innocent alike, to deserts, dungeons, and torture chambers? That does not sound like our Republic.
Think he’s over 200 Executive Orders so far which most major conservatives have called a King-like process to make law. I am sure I can find PBP authors saying the same for Biden or Obama EO’s.
Once he said: “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law,” referencing something Napoleon Bonaparte may have said. Point is Trump said it. Long live the Felon King. King as defined in his own words and actions.

How did these comments morph into “King” when it was about Thune who if you can read is acting like a king. We do have Kings and Queens, too in AMerica. King of Rock and Roll, Queen of Country Music plus more. I beg to differ that Trump is a felon. HE was illegally made a felon and even that is falling by the wayside. Trumps ancestry makes him related to a King, his wife, too is related to a King – or sorts – just a different title. All documented. Do the research. I am not here to do your research for you.
