Situation out of Control as Minors Flood US/Mexico Border

“I think we’re beyond crisis proportions here,” said Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI). Since the beginning of the fiscal year, Homeland Security has apprehended more than 20,000 unaccompanied minors as they attempt to sneak through the border into the United States.

If this record-breaking pace continues, “we’ll have 77,000 in 2016,” said Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson.

The year 2014 marks the current record, with a total of 68,541 would-be immigrants caught at the border. Last year was an improvement, with just under 30,000 unaccompanied minors apprehended along the border. Still, the Wisconsin senator worries that 2016 will turn into another crisis year. “I think we’re running ahead of 2014 levels from the numbers I’m getting,” he said.

“I just ran the numbers quickly…We’d be looking at about 57,000,” added Senator Tom Carper (D-DE).

Meanwhile, Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu argues that the immigrant-loving Obama Administration is intentionally misleading us: “He (Obama) has manipulated the data, had agents assigned to low traffic areas, and attempted to quiet dissent by calling those who question his approach as misinformed without offering an evidence to support these allegations.”

According to the most recent estimate by the Center for Immigration Studies, there are currently 15.7 million illegal immigrants living in America. FY2016 has already seen a 25% increase in illegal immigration attempts, with a 102% increase in unaccompanied minors.

“What we see from this administration is an actual reduction at a time we should be providing more support to secure our border,” says Babeu. He then accused a Border Patrol Commissioner in Kerlikowske of threatening to fire agents if they “don’t agree with the Obama administration and this lawlessness that’s happening.”
