Karine Jean-Pierre key to the cover-up … and so was Jen Psaki
The book “Original Sin. President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” by CNN’s Chuck Todd and Axios’ Alex Thompson unveils the years-long massive cover-up of President Biden’s physical and mental debilities going back to the campaign of 2020. By the time Biden was closing out his presidency, he was not competent intellectually or physically to carry out the daily duties of the presidency. In fact, he was arguably unfit to perform any job. The evidence and observations of those who interacted with Biden throughout his presidency testify to that.
To a remarkable extent, Biden’s condition was concealed from the American people by a cabal of insiders who (1) deceived the public and (2) inappropriately assumed the reins of government. The conspiracy had two factions — those who were personally aware of Biden’s condition and took extreme means to cover it up and those who believed the lies — or chose to spread them for political reasons.
No one person was more central to deceiving the public than White House Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre – although her predecessor, Jen Psaki, is a close second. Jean-Pierre was the political oracle who lied … lied … and lied … even as the facts became more apparent. She was the official spokesperson promulgating the lies at press briefings on almost a daily basis. Her predecessor, Jen Psaki, also lied – but she was fortunate to get out before the cover-up started to unravel in the headlines.
Like many in the inner circle, Jean-Pierre said that she had regular access to Biden. By her own claims, she met with him on a regular basis to discuss the issues. Or did she? Did she actually meet with Biden regularly – or did she meet with the top staffer to strategize how to handle questions about the President’s deteriorating condition? The Todd/Thompson book suggests the latter. One way or the other, Jean-Pierre would have known of Biden’s obvious mental decline.
More than anyone, Jean-Pierre was the chief messenger of the lies – of the cover-up. She stood at the White House press room podium and repeatedly assured the press and the American people that concerns about Biden’s condition were unwarranted – merely the product of political skullduggery. She claimed that those damning videos were “cheap fakes”. She made bogus excuses for Biden avoiding public appearances and press conferences. All lies.
When Biden revealed himself to the public during the debate, Jean-Pierre blamed it on his busy schedule and a touch of the flu. She knowingly lied.
Jean-Pierre not only said that Biden was “okay”, she described him as some sort of super senior – claiming that the staff could hardly keep up with him. When pushed by FOX News White House reporter Peter Doocy, she responded with “I know that is YOUR narrative.” Or… she should just refuse to answer.
Even after Biden had withdrawn, Jean-Pierre responded to a Doocy question with, “First of all, there’s been no cover-up. I want to be very clear about that.” She knew better because she was a key player in the cover-up. No one attested to Biden’s fitness in public more than Jean-Pierre. She was the Liar-in-Chief.
There was a time the press would take great umbrage with a White House press secretary telling bald-faced lies. In fact, President Nixon’s one time press secretary, Ron Zeigler, was forced out for lying about the Watergate burglary. The same fate befell Trump’s initial press secretary, Sean Spicer, who developed an immediate credibility problem by making false claims. Because of the media bias, however, the contemporary members of the Fourth Estate not only accepted the lies from Jean-Pierre, but they reported them as factual – even those who knew better. The only exceptions were the more conservative media outlets – and they were vilified by the left-wing establishment.
The fact that the nation made it through the Biden presidency without a catastrophic event (unless you count Afghanistan, the Ukraine War, the attack on Israel, record inflation, and a full blown border crisis) does not mitigate the seriousness of the cover-up – or the need for accountability. We do not know what would have been different if Biden were of sound mind and he was calling the shots.
To appreciate the scope of the conspiracy and cover-up, one only need recall that about a year ago, a Justice Department special counsel Robeert Hur, determined that Biden was unfit even to stand trial. It may not be an insanity plea, but it is pretty close. Hur was excoriated by the conspirators – including Vice President Harris – but Hur was right.
There are calls for accountability for those who engaged in the conspiracy and cover-up. I am not sure what accountability would look like at this stage. But if there is to be accountability, Jean-Pierre should be the first in line.
So, there ‘tis.
Another repeat story? Looking backwards again for accountability? Terrible book topic, not that it’s off, just that why bother, too soon? Can’t they wait until he moves forward with the cancer? For the book I mean. Just seems gratuitous when they know before they publish exactly how many right-winger maga’s will fund them. Trump transcripts of public utterances, speeches, etc. have all been yanked and, for the first time in recent history, will not be provided to the American people. Why? Many say because of the crazy, delusional, rants and ramblings coming out of his mouth. He has been missing a beat since 2024. Is his cabal shielding the American public from seeing what he is saying? Why? The lies? The delusions? The cries for revenge and retribution? Reminds me of the Doc Holiday movie quote about Johnnie Ringo: “”A man like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of him. He can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it.”

I agree with your first point and that’s why I like Biden; he could change. Like Biden, I have changed much since 1977 when Biden made those votes for a singular definition of marriage. I understand in that my views changed much from those days. In my middle age, I became more moderate in my feelings on social issues and downright conservative in my economic and fiscal opinions. Haven’t changed much as I reach my twilight years.
I do not understand Biden’s border policy, however, you do realize from 1900 to 2018, Democrats deported more than Republicans. Obama booted more than any other President at his time. Trump deported 50% of what Obama did. Clinton surpassed Trump first term deportations too. Biden surpassed Trump’s peak year in deportations. There are tricks in these numbers, first, deportations are classified differently by different Presidents. Secondly, and bigger, Presidents presiding over times of great numbers of borders crossers get bigger numbers. Trump has dramatically stopped people from trying; first term by covid, second term by NAZI-like tactics. Let’s be clear: Trump’s immigration wars feature cruel, inhuman, tactics to make for great TV. Amazingly, treating people worse than cattle in a Kansas city processing plant certainly sends a message of who were are and what we can do. Works just like covid. I keep laughing at the camo and masks worn for effect, like Halloween cops. I mean camo in the city? BUT — with no one trying to cross, Trump’s numbers for deportations will probably be less than Biden, Obama, Bush, and even Clinton. He had about 650,000 he could easily pick off at the courthouse. Now, he’s got IRS records and can deport those working, cool. After that, he has to work to get them. He’s doing about 20-30K a month and has a long way to catch Obama’s 430K in a single year. Trump claims 140K by end of April; most estimate about 70K. ICE leadership has been fired and new Trumplicants put in place which means we can expect greater numbers of arrests and cruelties.
Here’s the hard truth: this is more about the advertising than the results for Trump just like the gold curtains, gold rococo doodads on the mantle, gold chairs, all for effect of being a monarch. Trump could just enact E-Verify nationally and all the working undocumented would be without jobs and looking for a bus ride out of here in days. The documented he can continue to search for via IRS records. This is all a bogus effort for advertising purposes. So, as much as I can’t explain why BIden did not close the border down sooner, I cannot explain why Trump feels he needs to market himself via this advertising campaign. But I can say that Trump’s plans and programs are never going to meet his promises of deporting 14 million during his term. 140K, an exaggerated number, by end of April does not even get you to a million by end of year.
Trump too changed from Democrat to Magarat. If I guessed, I would gather his father was a high right racist. His racism may have been a sign of the times, and may have modified over time, but…..he even got caught at it. Trump though, grew up in NYC in the 60’s and 70’s hanging in all the hot spots with other rich types and probably eschewed leftism to fit in and attempt to be popular, which I doubt he ever was even for the trying. Seth, IMO, even if Trump erased all of his actions tomorrow, markets will not return to normal for quite some time. The disruption is huge. There’s a drop of 35% at the Port of LA and layoffs are eminent. Our five other major ports facing similar downturns. There’s duty free warehouses stocked to the roof with shit waiting for a lower tariff window. Everything adds cost.
Seth, the thing with many recessions is that not only in the numbers, but often in the mind. If everyone just pauses, next thing you know, the layoffs start and then, no matter what, you have to cycle your way through.
On top of that, Trump’s big beautiful bill portends massive deficits leading to more debt which cause our last Tbill auction to raise rates as buyers demanding more profit to buttress the greater risk of Trump fiscal policies.
