It Wasn’t a Gaffe: Biden Either Lied About Parkland, or He’s Mentally Unfit.
He said poor kids are just as smart as white kids, which revealed a disturbing subconscious bias, racism, and/or pure stupidity. On the debate stage, besides stammering incoherently to state his positions (which should surely have already been well rehearsed), he claimed this country couldn’t survive eight more years of Donald Trump, giving the President a few more years in office than the Constitution allows. (Hey, sounds good to me!)
And then there’s this:
In order to garner sympathy, win votes, who the hell knows what he was thinking, he claimed that he, above all other pols on the Hill, embraced the survivors and students activists from the Parkland high school shooting while in the White House. Except he wasn’t in the White House at the time. He and Obama had long since packed their bags and left, so the Magnificent Orange Bastard could take over.
The first excuse that the Democrats gave for this little faux pas was that he meant to say the victims of the Sandy Hook school massacre, and that it was just a slip of the tongue and a big misunderstanding. Better to keep one’s mouth closed and be suspected an idiot than open it and prove it (advice they should have followed), because no elementary school victims from Sandy Hook ever visited the White House. And there were certainly no 10-year-old activists walking the halls of Congress with their lobbyists for gun control.
He, by his very words, invented a scenario that never existed, in which he met with young Parkland teenagers (not kids) to discuss the “scourge” of guns. And somehow, he was the only one on the Hill brave enough to meet with them, and every other congressperson and Senator was cowering in a corner, afraid to face them.
This is the part which freaks me out the most, as if politicians, both Dems and Repubs, couldn’t “deal with it,” and only he could.
Once this excuse/lie/explanation had to be abandoned almost before it had completely left the apologists’ lips, they then said Biden meant to say that this happened in a private space away from Washington, not when he was in office, but as a private citizen. Except they never say the place, they never say the time, and they’ll never take a lie detector test. Where did he meet them? I didn’t see him fly down here to Florida (I live just one mile from the school), and I can assure you, the students never flew to Delaware.
But he still claimed that other pols shied away from them, inferring he was somewhere where other pols would also be, of course inferring D.C.!
When Gerald Ford would stumble exiting Air Force One, it was hysterical, as were his clumsy antics on the golf course. When a Presidential candidate commits these kinds of false statements, it’s not so funny. It’s serious business. We love our goofballs, but there’s a limit.
He’s either lying or mentally not all there. According to Rudolph Guiliani, he’s not all there, and he reluctantly stumped this position during the weekend. According to Rudy, Biden can’t not only not handle the hard stuff, he can’t even handle the easy stuff. According to him, everyone ages and loses mental acuity, it’s totally natural, but some people lose it earlier than others. Unfortunately, he says, Biden has lost it at 77.
And this isn’t about unfairly attacking the Democrats’ current frontrunner. The Republicans know that Joe isn’t going to make it far in the primaries anyway. Just look at his history running for President. It’s simply about pointing out the obvious.
There’s something wrong going on here, or something dishonest. Either way, he shouldn’t get the job.
