Frustrated Fetterman Says Democrats Response to Iran War Was “Disappointing”

Expressing his ongoing and mounting frustration with his own Party, Sen. Jon Fetterman (D-Pa) says that the Democrats response to the war with Iran has been “disappointing.”

The outspoken Senator also “marveled” that it appears at times that some Democrats are even “rooting” for Iran because of their aversion to President Trump.

“It seems like people are almost rooting for Iran. It’s crazy,” Fetterman told video journalist Nicholas Ballasy in a recent interview. “So my party has been very disappointing, the way they’ve chosen to respond.”

Fetterman singled out Graham Platner, the Senate Democratic candidate in Maine, for comments he made in 2014 from a now-deleted Reddit profile responding to video of a Hamas raid on Israeli soldiers.

Platner wrote in the Reddit forum in 2014 that it looked “like an all around well executed and successful small unit raid to me,” according to JewishInsider.com.

Fetterman pointed to those comments to underscore his criticism of Democrats’ response to the war with Iran.

“You know, like Platner in Maine,” Fetterman said. “You know, he said, ‘I dig it,’ you know, in a video where Hamas was beating and torturing Israeli soldiers to death. ‘I dig it.’”

“That’s the kind of what our party’s becoming. It’s been incredibly disappointing,” Fetterman said.

Fetterman has been the only Democrat in the Senate to consistently vote against a war powers resolution to prohibit Trump from continuing military hostilities against Iran.

He also voted against two resolutions sponsored by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) last week to block the sales of bulldozers and 1,000-lb bombs to Israel’s military.

Forty Senate Democrats voted for the resolution to bar the sale of $295 million in bulldozers to Israel and 36 Democrats voted for the resolution to block the sale of $1.2 million in heavy bombs.
