Does Trump have a “plan” to deport American criminals?
According to Democrats and the left-wing media, the answer to the headline is “yes”. They say that President Trump has an actual “plan.” At least that is the word they use. That is hyperbolic political spin, of course.
In recent days, Trump has said he would personally like to boot vicious criminals out of the country even if they are citizens. He was not assuming some presidential authority to do so. In fact, he compromised his own desire with references to the law. “We have to look at the law,” he said.
Most constitutional scholars and lawyers say that it would not take a long look at the law to determine that it is both illegal and unconstitutional to deport American citizens for any reason. Those who commit crimes — no matter how vicious – will face American justice. If found guilty, they will be incarcerated in American jails and prisons. That seems pretty straightforward.
For the record, I stand with those who say it is illegal and unconstitutional to consign American criminals to foreign prisons. I feel confident that it will never happen. I also believe Trump knows it would be illegal and unconstitutional.
Then why bring up the idea?
To make even an attempt at understanding Trump’s modus operandi, you need to distinguish between issues about which he is serious and the political flak he launches to distract and confound his overwrought critics. He sets the left’s hair on fire — and they burn up airtime and print space responding hysterically to matters of little consequence – seeing them as more proof that Trump will set himself up as the dictator-king.
Trump recently ignited hair fires with his suggestion of a third term. Then there was putting his heroic attempted assassination painting in place of an Obama portrait in the White House. (For the record, the Obama painting was moved – not removed). He got a less dramatic response to his suggestion of turning the White House rose garden into a patio.
As long as the Trump Derangement Syndrome folks are going to overreact to the flak, he is going to launch it – because it makes them look foolish. Rest assured that there will be no third Trump term, and we will not be sending American citizens to foreign prisons – no matter how bad they are. I am prepared to eat crow on those issues.
I am not a fan of Trump’s style – as I have made clear in many commentaries over the past nine years – but one cannot deny that it has worked for him. It got him two terms in the White House against the longest odds and unprecedented attacks from his political adversaries. His favorable rating is still better than the Democrats.
If Democrats are ever going to figure out how to oppose Trump effectively – and I doubt they will — they should go to the dictionary and look up “overreaction.”

Have the balls to say the name of the innocent you are willing to kill, but not willing to mention. How many more innocents have you condemned to death? He is not an illegal alien, he is not a gang member, he has no gang tats. He is awaiting asylum under a court-issued protection order. Not quite a citizen, but not a gang member or illegal alien at this point either. He is from El Salvador that he fled to avoid death by the gangs trying to initiate him. You sent him to his death in the El Salvador that he ran from to avoid death at the hands of the gangs you are fighting claiming you are at war with Venezuela. You can’t make up these delusions of the demented.

Larry, As is so often the case when I read one of your posts, I wonder “is he really this stupid, or does he just say dumb things so as to be better able to reach his subject audience?” You leave me guessing. You say “I believe trump knows that it would be illegal and unconstitutional” and also say (with that incredible insight you have) that this is just political flak, which may be true. However, he has also shown us that he really doesn’t care if something is ‘illegal’ and he really doesn’t care if courts rule against his actions, he will do them anyway, and has openly stated that he will not reverse his actions. As I understand the law, rendition is currently illegal in the US, the migrants he sent to El Salvador were not deported, they were sent to jail, in a foreign country, without a trial, which is rendition. (can you say ‘dictator’? He said he would be dictator on day 1, and people thought he meant only day 1, it is now approaching day 90 and he is still flouting the law, exactly like a dictator). Bottom line here is, despite what you say, that his words are just political flak and he would never do something against the law (huh?), those of us that care about the laws in the US, the constitution, find it necessary to get out in front of him, which is why the democrats react to his words, nonsensical though they may be….
Larry, after 9 years of Trump and you still defend him and appear to admire his pugnacious narcissism because he won the presidency twice. What that says about you should embarrass you. All those good Americans who voted this bad anti-democracy oligarch into the White House, you all should be embarrassed and ashamed.
What Trump has brought upon this country is pure authoritarian and if you don’t recognize it for what it is you are not the smart, intelligent, literate, and self-aware that you advertise yourself as. it’s really sad that this country has enabled Trump to push his brand all the way to the highest office in the land and, agreeably, the world. With Trump our country has given up superiority that took 250 years in developing and especially in the 80 years post WWII.
If you do not fear for our country’s future given that; China is fast gaining on the US in almost every sector, that Trump’s trade war and tariffs will cause our economy into recession followed by a worldwide recession, that our election laws are so lax that American Oligarchs bought Trump the presidency because he assured them tax cuts in the billions, that JD Vance had a billionaire purchase from Trump the VP spot on the ticket, that Trump keeps defying the Court decisions against his acting as he pleases (including SCOTUS)
Nonother president in American History is as reckless with presidential authority and delegated power, so as to challenge constitutional laws.
Larry, I am aware that your conservatism, and your Republican Party (never again a Grand Old Party) are the essence of your identity. Like Trump you will not ever admit you are in error, never concede that your opinions are ill informed, always belittle Democrats and the left as a whole, and proudly and sarcastically berate any and all who disagree with you through their own opinion.
Therefore, you lack the freedom to desire the truth in every issue, subject, and people. Your opinions are like set concrete, heavy and immoveable. Your is thinking so predictable that your commentaries contain no real surprises.
Although, the twists in credulity and turns in your telling a tale is quite a pull that your topics are made to go through. Each one never fails to prove you can be ever the disgusting untruth from propaganda.
The Dems and the left are not the ones with the head ablaze. In your confused state between Trump adoration and the hard place that is self-deceit. The need you have to deflect some of the heat and stench of hair on fire must dire you to distraction. It’s the same want in you to deflect attention from your man’s actions that repeatedly and intentionally crush liberties, rights, and freedoms guaranteed by laws under the US Constitution.
You, Larry, may take your righteous beliefs were ever you go and never change, but we who are on the side of democracy and a free America understand the truth about Trump’s ignorance and stupid pro minority oligarchy mentality. He will never find what he thinks he needs. He will die as he has lived, in misery. Winning by cheating only works in the game of golf. And that’s because your partners on the links let him cheat.
