Democrats in CA Move to Criminalize Independent Reporting on Fraud
The corrupt Democrats in California are in panic because of the real journalism of a young conservative investigative journalist who has been exposing their rampant fraud in blue states. Their defense against his work? Making truth-telling illegal in their state!
When the Democrats in California’s state assembly tabled their bill to stop investigative journalists from exposing the people involved in the statewide fraud machinery run by none other than the Democrats, they didn’t try to hide it even in name. Hence they called their bill “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” named after the 24-year-old conservative journalist Nick Shirley who has exposed massive fraud in public funds doled out by the Democrats in various offices to support migrants, particularly illegal aliens, in both California and Minnesota. The proposed bill seeks to criminalize “investigative journalism with misdemeanors, $10,000 fines, imprisonment, and content removal,” as reported in LifeSite News (April 16).
The “Stop Nick Shirley Act” – technically named AB 2624 – was introduced by Democrat lawmaker Mia Bonta of the state assembly and the wife of California’s current Attorney General (AG) Robert Andres Bonta. She responded to the immediate backlash of conservatives over her bill’s perceived objective – silencing independent media voices in the state in order to perpetuate fraud. In a short video posted to her X page, Mrs. Bonta rejected the right-wing criticism of her bill by saying that it only prevents people from revealing the private information of service providers and not reporting fraud.
But conservatives know how deceptive Democrats can get in masking their policies that take away civil liberties and constitutional rights of the public. Shirley responded to the Californian Dems by posting a short video on his TikTok account. He said that it is an attempt to silence anybody who exposes fraud in California.
California Globe (April 13) cited Carl DeMaio, Republican lawmaker of California’s state assembly, slamming his Democrat colleagues over the controversial legislation. DeMaio reminded the Democrats that they have no problem with liberals doxing law enforcement but display these double standards when it comes to the issue of migrant fraud:
“Why are we treating sworn law enforcement officers differently than these agitators? They are doxed, harassed, and subjected to threats of violence.”
Elon Musk shared Shirley’s X post about the legislation agreeing with the young journalist.
Shirley was also interviewed by Will Cain on Fox News and the clip was shared by conservatives to draw attention to the fraud-protection move of the Democrats in California.
Stopping investigative journalists from exposing bad actors in the financial divisions and programs in blue states is the latest in the ongoing collective pro-fraud policies of Democrats, something the Republicans in Minnesota State Senate decried last month. Their criticism followed the proposal of Democrats to pay $40 million out of taxpayer money to cover unpaid rent and utilities of the state’s residents. Republican Senator Eric Lucero was cited in a post on the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus website (March 12):
It’s this exact kind of program fraudsters are looking for, and there is still no requirement the payments go only to legal residents. Democrats are once again ignoring fraud concerns and immigration laws while Minnesotans suffer from their runaway spending, higher taxes, and billions stolen from people in need.

From the most corrupt writer on PBP: “The corrupt Democrats in California.” Do you have a list? Or is it “all of the above?”
He boldly claims: “Hence they called their bill “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” which is a lie that Ernie thinks he can hide by going highbrow with the word “hence.” Indubitably. The proposed bill is actually designated Assembly Bill 2624 or AB 2624 which is documented with the title: “Privacy for immigration support services providers.” Corrupt Republicans in California like Dempsey nicknamed it the “Stop Nick Shirley Act” because the bill has little to do with Nick, but sounds really cool as their marketing buzz.
If Ernie can lie about the name, spin it to his advantage, what else in this story is yet another Ernie lie, more Ernie spin. The bill’s author responds to people like Ernie: “If MAGA can’t tell the difference between journalism and doxing that’s on them because under my bill, there are no provisions related to journalism or fraud,” Bonta said, according to Fox 26 News. “This bill does not infringe on the first amendment. But sharing the name and address of a front desk worker to intimidate them out of doing their job isn’t reporting. It isn’t investigating fraud. It’s wrong and ca should hold firm on the truth.”
I actually do not like this bill; not because of the intent, but because it creates yet another grey area, “are you intimidated,” to be determined at taxpayer’s expense downstream via the courts: what stupidity. But I dislike liars like Ernie even more. But this bill has little to do with the 1st, journalism, or free speech. Intimidation is not protected by the 1st, nor is it journalism. Except maybe for liars like Ernie.
BUSTED for lying.
