CDC Director Calls for Vaccine Passports

CDC Director Calls for Vaccine Passports

Coming as no surprise, the Director of the CDC Rochelle Walensky has spoken this week about the self desired need for vaccine passports in the United States. Despite mass resistance to the idea existing from Republicans and Democrats alike, the suggestion comes at a time public trust in health officials continues to fall and cases of the virus seemingly continue to rise in both the vaccinated and unvaccinated across the country.

In a televised interview, Walensky was asked if the United States might consider implementing a vaccine passport system like those currently being implemented across other regions like Europe. In response, Walensky replied, “That may very well be a path forward.”

She followed up this response by acknowledging that, even with the vaccine, populations may still be capable of contracting the virus despite efforts saying that, “in some fully vaccinated venues… it is possible (for a fully vaccinated individual to transmit or get Covid) in those settings.”

It seems like, no matter if you are vaccinated or not, the possibility still exists to catch a variant of the virus or be a host for a mutation. While reports continue to suggest that having the vaccine reduces the possibility of hospitalization or death from the virus, reports of “breakthrough” cases have also been reported. As of July 12th, almost 5,500 people who were fully vaccinated individuals have still been hospitalized or have died from the Covid 19 virus. While these numbers are low in comparison to the number of deaths otherwise, this evidence still shows that the vaccines are not 100% effective.

Even with this information readily available to the public, Joe Biden had recently stated in a televised town hall event that, “You’re not going to get Covid if you have these vaccinations. If you’re vaccinated, you’re not going to be hospitalized, you’re not going to be in the IC unit, and you’re not going to die.” Based on the “science”, this is apparently untrue.

A new study from the UK concluded that antibodies provided by the Astrazeneca or Pfizer vaccine both may start to fall after merely 6 weeks of vaccination, and for some could even further drop by 50% within 3 months time. This study was conducted by University College London (UCL) Virus Watch doing an analysis on blood from 552 vaccinated individuals.

A new study from Israel also has found that the Pfizer vaccine is about 39% effective in stopping infection from the Delta variant.

With all of this, what good would vaccine passports actually do? If vaccinated still have the potential to catch the virus and antibodies for protection given by the vaccine only potentially last for a few months, are we expected to get several shots a year and provide a passport of doing so just to be able to live out our everyday lives? This continues to seem like a ridiculous notion when considering our supposed stance as a free nation. So far, freedom has continued to reign for most of the people in America. The only division line here has been what businesses and companies are forcing their employees to be vaccinated to continue to have a job and make money. This, in itself, seems like a violation of freedom.

All of this also comes at a time when the CDC itself has just suggested again mandating mask wearing indoors, even for fully vaccinated individuals. At my hourly job working in a restaurant, this week we had to abide by the new decision and everyone, including the fully vaccinated, are required to wear masks again at all times. It is also worth noting here that several of the employees I work with have become ill and have called out from work, but all of the individuals who are currently sick have been fully vaccinated. This is strange to me.

It is also worth noting that from my personal experience, as an unvaccinated individual, I am around hundreds of different people every single day. Most of which are maskless customers. During this entire pandemic, I have not become sick a single time. I thank God for this, but I am also a healthy individual who works out every day, gets sun, walks to work willingly and eats clean food regularly.

I’m not suggesting that these actions give me any better chance of not catching Covid than anyone else, but this has been my experience. I am thankful that the vaccine exists for everyone who believes that they need it for their own personal safety, comfort and well being, but also am thankful that it has not been required. I haven’t been sick in 20 years and have never taken any medication for any issue, but that is just my own experience. For all those who feel the need, I am happy that the vaccine is available. The mask mandates, or any other future potential mandates, such as vaccine passports, I do believe are a violation of personal freedom. Everyone should have the freedom of choice and be able to make decisions for themselves and their family on their own. This is just my opinion on the matter.

Recently, hateful rhetoric has been targeted towards unvaccinated individuals from the media. This has no worth other than to merely stir up tensions between humans. If vaccinated and unvaccinated have the same potential to carry the virus or be host to a mutation, the rhetoric against unvaccinated is unwarranted. Vaccinated individuals shouldn’t hate the unvaccinated, and unvaccinated individuals shouldn’t hate the vaccinated. We should all just respect each other’s freedom of choice here. All talk otherwise is pointless and without proper backing.

With this said, mutations and future variants are an issue. Antibodies can come naturally or by vaccination, so either way defenses are built however they can be built in individuals to hopefully stand against the changes in the system. This is all that we as humans can be expected to do.

All of this also comes at a time when Biden has said that his administration is considering mandatory vaccines for all federal employees. An update on the next decisions by the administration are expected to be announced on Thursday.

Biden has also recently claimed, “We have pandemic because of the unvaccinated and they’re sowing enormous confusion. And there’s only one thing we know for sure, if those other hundred million people got vaccinated, we’d be in a very different world.”

This is not true either, because he doesn’t know that one idea “for sure” and the evidence shows otherwise. Even if everyone was vaccinated and continually vaccinated (as benefits are short term based on studies), we would all still have the capability of potentially contracting and carrying the virus.

It is also important to note here that under emergency authorization, vaccine manufacturers are not held liable for any injury, including death, that the vaccine may cause. These have not been approved by the FDA, and is an experimental drug that is being tested on the population. For the sake of understanding, people or representatives of a deceased individual who were vaccinated have up to a year after receiving a vaccine to file a claim and prove their injury with a federal government program called the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program.

Keep in mind, this only lasts a year and the long term effects of the vaccine are entirely unknown. This is why the freedom of choice matters. If individuals don’t want to take the risk of being vaccinated and would rather take the risk of Covid, that is ok. If individuals don’t want to face the risk of Covid and would rather be vaccinated, that is ok too. Both options and thoughts are ok to have, despite the rhetoric and fear mongering.

Many countries have mandated vaccine passports, but also many of those countries are experiencing mass protests on the matter. Let us hope that the United States of America doesn’t end up in the same situation, which can be avoided entirely by just choosing to respect our established freedoms as individuals.

Oh Jacob, how wrong you must be. Since when is a vaccine tied to freedom?

This “product” has not been tested since 12/20 with over 4,000,000,000 doses given. No other product since the dawn of man has been tested on so many, in so many places in the globe, so quickly.

History’s pattern since the 1960’s polio vaccine has been replete with success, and nary a long term issue. When there is, it usually happens in the first couple months — we are way past that. The “new technology” component of this vaccine has been in use or study for decades. Decades is a long time.

You have posted a lot of ideas, a few facts, some like the Israeli study with disputed non-peer reviewed results, small samples, and obvious skews, that somehow you have overlooked, and you have made your decision based primarily on your history, feelings, and God even though many of those in your tribe have reversed themselves and fully support the vaccine. What other vaccines have you skipped? Sure, we will learn more, things will change, things could happen but Jacob — do you read the news on who is in the hospital, who is still dieing, and what country they live in: Trump country!

I did like your “It is also worth noting that from my personal experience, as an unvaccinated individual, I am around hundreds of different people every single day. Most of which are maskless customers. During this entire pandemic, I have not become sick a single time.” What’s next, you gonna tell us about all your black friends to prove there’s no racism in America? Anecdotal data should not be used to make this decision; it’s not about your experience, your feelings, it’s about science and medicine.

Bottom line Jacob — you can catch it, I am vaccinated, I can catch it. You might be hospitalized and die, I won’t. That’s the facts on the ground. This vaccine has been tested since December of 2020, billions served world-wide, most problems pop up in a few months. Virtually nada.

As Mickey of Rocky II famously said: “What are we waiting for……take this!”

Here are some links supporting my feeling that everyone should get the vaccine, for the good of your family, friends and community, and in common defense of the nation. I don’t vouch for the sources, first links, there’s plenty more. Happy reading.

Kevin McCarthy tweets “Make no mistake—The threat of bringing masks back is not a decision based on science, but a decision conjured up by liberal government officials who want to continue to live in a perpetual pandemic state.” He feels that since he’s not from a hot spot, no mask needed. Seems to be geography-challenged believing no one in the house is from a hot spot., no one ever goes home, it’s all good, all safe — after all, he’s never been sick with it. 65 Republican House members remain unvaccinated. There might be 50% of the Republican Senators vaccinated, most throw HIPPA out as a reason not to confess. We call that – leadership! All Democrats, both houses, are fully vaccinated. Kevin is from California, a hot spot….. he has two kids at home, he called the Covid Asian Hate Bill frivolous, believes the Big Lie, and other misguided positions. His son must be vaccinated to return to Georgetown in the Fall.

Mitch McConnell takes campaign funds to sponsor PSA recommending folks get vaccinated ASAP. He said: “These shots need to get in everybody’s arm as rapidly as possible, or we’re going to be back in a situation in the fall that we don’t yearn for, that we went through last year,”

Steve Scalise of Louisiana, second in Republican House leadership received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this weekend urging others to do the same ASAP. He had the virus earlier, claimed antibodies will protect him, but this weekend decided to follow the science.

Hannity declared get the vaccine, waffled a bit, but his original words are etched: “I can’t say it enough. Enough people have died. We don’t need any more death,” Hannity has called the virus a hoax, continued “And it absolutely makes sense for many Americans to get vaccinated. I believe in science. I believe in the science of vaccination.” I believe in the science…. Jacob, you believe in you heart.

Republican congress men and women with medical and health-care provider backgrounds, the GOP Doctors Caucus will re-release two PSA’s stressing the need to be vaccinated.

House member Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), Gus M. Bilirakis, (R-FL), and even crazy as it sounds: Kevin McCarthy said, “I believe in vaccines.”

Of course, there are still detractors, anti-vaxers, people like Jacob and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.). It’s an ever shrinking pool beginning to look very lonely with Greene as your most vocal spokesperson. Given Trump’s candidate loss in Texas, the continued progress of the bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, other Republicans may be deciding they don’t necessarily pull on the oars in Trump’s direction in order to win their seats.

Imagine how many lives might be still saved if Donald J. Trump made a PSA or two confirming his thoughts about the vaccine he took within 30 days of it being offered to the public. Imagine if Jacob “read the news today, oh boy…” looked at the science, the links I sent, changed his mind, and then announced it here. IMO, the world would be a better place. Let’s end the pandemic of the unvaccinated.

The CDC needs the Vaccine that’s nothing but expiremntal stuck up their ass, fact is it doesn’t work, and all this is them making a mountain out of a mole hill, keep going with all this is like playing with a poison snake sooner or later it will get you.

  4. Patricia Toth

In spite of the long winded reply, the take away from this is freedom of choice. If you want to take the shot, fine, but don’t force or coerce the rest of the world.

  5. Dom

The CDC has become an agency of the Left. It can make recommendations but has no authority over citizens of this country. Ms. Walensky and others like her can put their passport idea where the sun doesn’t shine.

  6. frank stetson

“fact is it doesn’t work” prove it, come on, prove it. The proof it does work is everywhere.

“making a mountain out of a mole hill” 660,000 dead, 500 yesterday, 400 the day before, 200 before that, 100 before that, smell a trend….cuz it’s growing and coming your way. Just don’t take us with you please.

“keep going with all this is like playing with a poison snake sooner or later it will get you.” see previous response for covid dead. How many vaccinations resulted in dead in America- 3. The poison except is in your mind.

“If you want to take the shot, fine, but don’t force or coerce the rest of the world.” Why not? I would rather coerce you than be killed by you as you kill yourself. I favor no mandate, that’ s your delusion, Instead, I say allow the vaccinated to remain mask-less with free access to public events, travel, jobs, school, whatever. That’s my freedom of choice. You can freely choose to skip the vaccine, remain unvaccinated, but you must wear a mask in public, get tested weekly, to participate in any public settings. You can be free to be unvaccinated, but must protect the rest of us based on your choice. I believe that’s the general process being rolled out in government and business.

Why are you not scared of a virus that kills over 600K of your fellow citizens but you are totally afraid of the vaccine that’s killed 3 people.

Even Republican leadership is doing it, recommending it, praising it. Even your President got jabbed behind closed doors and then announced it after being outed. If you want to skip the shot, fine, I emphasize with your fear. It’s fear because there is no medical nor scientific reason to skip the shot unless you fear science more than 600,000 dead people. But, if you do skip it, don’t force or coerce the rest of the world to live in unprotected proximity to you. Your kind, the unvaccinated, are causing the next surge and even if we are protected, you will take a number of us with you because you are afraid.

After billions being served, I think you fear is unfounded. You take other vaccines, don’t you?

  7. Karen S. King

Walensky said, ““in some fully vaccinated venues… it is possible (for a fully vaccinated individual to transmit or get Covid) in those settings.”
Of course if you get the vaccine you could still catch it or pass it along! You a special kind of stupid ain’t you, Walensky? I was told by my doctor that the covid was nothing more than a severe flu and I agree with her.

  8. frank stetson

“I was told by my doctor that the covid was nothing more than a severe flu and I agree with her.” Obviously based on cases, infection rate, death, hospitalization —- gosh, every metric ever know —- you are wrong, and at this point, one would have to say a spreader of misinformation. Your doctor should lose her license.

I think Walensky was referring to the fact that the vaccines are not 100% effective, just in the low 90’s. Therefore, if you walk amongst the infected, especially those special people avoiding the vaccine, avoiding masking, yeah it can be caught. Add in the higher contagion level of the Delta, and guess what — the numbers go up again. As will the death rate for the vaccinated.

However, if you are unvaccinated, you are causing the current pandemic. Even Israel, with a similar size/population as NJ, but a 70% or higher fully vaccinated rate is battling this thing. Delta is at least twice as contagious as Alpha, the thing we’ve been facing up until now. It is pretty easy to map most of these outbreaks to the unvaccinated, and most of the unvaccinated to Trump country. It’s just the nature of the beast for this.

Here’s a nice map to give you the idea: https://www.mayoclinic.org/coronavirus-covid-19/map

The fact are that covid is more dangerous than seasonal flu, it is 2-4 times more contagious, it is 3 times more deadly than the flu, it is four times more likely to put you on some form of oxygen than the seasonal flu. Don’t trust me, just google “is covid worse than the flu.”

600,000 dead so far and we are still clicking up 500 dead a day and climbing rapidly, a week ago it was 100 a day. Overwhelming, it’s the unvaccinated. More and more, they are younger and younger. After all, the elders have a much higher vaccination rate.

The facts are right in front of you: it dangerous, the vaccines work, they are safe and historically safe, the current surge is of the unvaccinated and only the unvaccinated can stop the surge. The facts are easily available.
