Will Romney Step in as Savior for the 2020 Presidential Race?

Will Romney Step in as Savior for the 2020 Presidential Race?

Among the few Republican lawmakers to criticize President Trump amid Democrats’ impeachment inquiry is Utah Senator Mitt Romney, who sought the presidency in 2008 and 2012.

“When the only American citizen President Trump singles out for China’s investigation is his political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process, it strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated,” tweeted Romney last Friday. “By all appearances, the president’s brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigation Joe Biden is wrong and appalling.”

Trump shot back with a series of tweets, suggesting Utah voters had “made a big mistake,” accusing Romney of “playing into the hands” of Democrats, and congratulating Democrats for having no “Mitt Romney types.”

“Somebody please wake up Mitt Romney and tell him that my conversation with the Ukrainian President was a congenial and very appropriate one, and my statement on China pertained to corruption, not politics,” tweeted Trump on Sunday. “If Mitt worked this hard on Obama, he could have won. Sadly, he choked!”

Trump included the hashtag “Impeach Mitt Romney,” although the law doesn’t work that way for removing a member of Congress.

This isn’t the first time Romney and Trump have argued about key issues, and some are expecting Romney to step up and lead the Republican opposition during the impeachment inquiry.

The anti-Trump group Defending Democracy Together is already running ads in Utah encouraging Romney to speak up.

“I think Mitt Romney came back to the senate for a reason, and I hope this is the reason,” said Sarah Longwell, the group’s leader. “This is going to be the moment where Mitt Romney will play – I think – the decisive role in what Republicans do going forward.”

Romney is in a unique position here. He is broadly trusted as a moral leader, but his relationship with Big Corporate is at odds with the populist uprising.

The chances Trump will be impeached are about one in a million; but if it happens, Republicans will need a savior. Romney’s reputation and bank account make him the perfect candidate to step in.

Romney is unlikely to confront Trump should impeachment fail; but if impeachment succeeds, you can bet he won’t pass up the chance to take another shot at the GOP nomination.

Editor’s note: Anyone can tell he is “peacocking” right now, itching to get into the race.  His jabs at Trump allow him to be the here of the “never Trumpers” but there are not enough of them elect him in the unlikely event that Trump is impeached.  At this point, I would almost rather have Hillary…

Ol Mitt is the biggest disappointment to come up the pike. I thought I was disappointed when he gagged during the debate between him and Obuma, but since then he has only gotten worse and worse. He is a wolf in Nazi clothing. The Mormons must be soooooo proud—not! I do not understand how he can even look in the mirror and still hold his head up. Well, I guess he may run as a Republican but he is truly a louse and a far leftist/socialist/hater.

I’m certainly ashamed that I supported and worked for Mittens when he ran againstthe Kenyan muslim/marxist. Admittedly, there was little choice but staying home or votint 3rd party would have been preferable as I watch his RINO antics now.

I used to totally respect and admire Romney and I still believe he is probably an excellent husband and dad, but as far as a politician, his career ended with that horrible speech and rant he made about Trump during his campaign. That was it for me. He is a traitor and I would never trust anything he said again and I certainly would never vote for him for any position.

I once voted for Romney, but that was before I realized that he was more interested in Romney than the good of the Nation. He has demonstrated that he has no party loyalty and is only interested in self aggrandizement.

    I voted for Romney once.

I accepted that he made is money by turning around distressed companies some of which failed. I accepted that the was a governor of a liberal state and was not a true conservative. However, I thought he was an honorable man and a solid Republican. He is neither.

Step in? This fool has burnt all of his bridges. The only thing he will ever step into now is more shit!

When I look at the man (Romney) I think of one thing….SLIME. I’m not just saying that. I once saw a nature program about a frog with a toxic slime on it’s body that kept predators away. And when I look at Romney’s eyes I see that frog.

I voted for Romney I. 2012 when he gave the election to Obama. I voted for him in his Senate race. I regret this decision every time his rino head fares up to speak against our President! No!!! I don’t want him to be President ever! I pray that Jason Chaffetz will run for U.S. Senator to take his place.

Romney wants to be loved; too bad he is a delusional as Hitler was in the bunker. He is soooo narcissistic that He still thinks he is member of the ruling class and has a hereditary right to hold office because his father was a Governor. The Republican party that he is thinking only exists in his mind and the rest of the old empty suit card carrying phony conservative republicans who gave away our freedoms buy increments to the Leftist democrats.

So Romney is running as a Democrat then? He doesn’t stand a chance in the Republican Primary (it would be worse than Kennedy’s beating by Carter in ’80), but even he would make the Dems look better.

If, by some miracle of corrupt doings, President Trump is impeached, I will hold Mitt Romney partially responsible and will encourage Senator Mike Lee or Represenative Jim Jordan to run for president with a Nikki Haley ticket. If Romney runs, I’ll stay home. Just sayin.

Just because the president is impeached in the House, does not mean that he will be removed from office. Should the demos come out with Articles of Impeachment out of their kangaroo court, the Senate will not convict the president because it would take 67 votes to remove him from office. And the demos don’t have enough members in the senate (46) to convict. They would need 21 republicans to join them and there aren’t enough anti-trumpers in the senate to reach a 2/3rds majority.

President Trump may be impeached by the kangaroo court the demos are running, but he will not be removed from office. And in 2020 election Trump will win in a landslide. The republicans will regain the House and increase their seats in the Senate. The democrats? Well there won’t be many of them around, because most will have committed suicide during the illegal impeachment proceedings. And mittens? Well he will continue to be the POS that he is and has always been. If he decides to run again, he will be beaten like a drum in the primaries.
