Harvard Professor of Honesty Fired for Fraudulent Research

Harvard has been sold to the public for decades as the name to trust when it comes to science and research, but the mass deception of liberal-run academia is now being exposed by investigations. In the latest such case that made news, a distinguished Harvard professor was outed for fabricating data in multiple studies.
As reported in the New York Post (NYP) Francesca Gino had been known as a celebrated behavioral scientist at the Harvard Business School until an investigation found her game. The school’s governing board concluded that Gino had fabricated data in four of her studies so as to validate her hypotheses. Following a closed-door meeting of the Harvard administration, Professor Gino was fired after having her tenure revoked. Ironically, Gino was known to be an expert in the study of honesty and ethical behavior.
Boston-based GBH News reported last week that an internal investigation was launched into Gino’s academic work in 2023 when a group of behavioral scientists running a blog called Data Colada became suspicious of the studies published by Gino and expressed their concerns. When the subsequent Harvard investigation found that Gino had manipulated data, they placed her on unpaid administrative leave.
Denying any wrongdoing, Gino fired back with a $25 million lawsuit against Harvard and the science bloggers who rang the alarm bell over her studies. In September 2024, however, a federal court dismissed her lawsuit and ruled that being a public figure meant her work was subject to criticism under the First Amendment.
Reporting on the story, National Review wrote (May 31) that the scandal of “Harvard’s dishonest expert on honesty” shows that what is sold to the public as science is part of “ideological allegiance replacing the quest for truth.”
Conservative commentator Justin Hart chimed in on the story by hinting at the irony of a professor of honesty getting busted for academic fraud. In his Substack column as well as his X post (May 27), Hart called it “a perfect metaphor for modern academia’s moral posturing contrasted with a rotten core.”
Last year, Harvard University was rocked by a scandal of a similar nature but at a much higher level, as its president Claudine Gay was caught committing plagiarism. Gay faced more than two dozen claims of plagiarism and decided to step down. Considered a DEI hire by conservatives, Gay also received fierce backlash for refusing to condemn antisemitic remarks by dozens of anti-Israel students at Harvard – a stance over which the Harvard administration actually defended her.
The current Trump administration took on Harvard in April this year by freezing $2.2 billion in federal grants to the university over the institution’s inaction against antisemitism on its campus, while also engaging in racial discrimination against white people. Harvard has asked a federal court to unblock the federal funds frozen by the Trump administration.
There is only one thing you can find in The Dumpster; garbage. His facts are right, but the Dumpster cannot put any of the pieces together with his warped view of America where he feels the need to pit the right against the left. And yes, she was the $1M expert, literally, on honesty, ethics, and rule breaking. Or, at least, she used to be.
This time unprofessional Ernie goes for Harvard where he claims “the mass deception of liberal-run academia is now being exposed by investigations. In the latest such case that made news, a distinguished Harvard professor was outed for fabricating data in multiple studies.”
Let’s be clear on the facts: one professor. He links that to the recently resigned Harvard President where he says: “by a scandal of a similar nature but at a much higher level.” These are two separate, distinct, and very different “scandals” which in no way typifies Harvard or it/s graduates much less extending that to a “mass deception” or “liberal-run academia.” He has presented no evidence of either correlation or causation. Then he stretches the President to DEI as the root of all sins. Liberal of course. And that brings us back to all academia liberally rotten to the core. Where’s Trump University when you need it?
Back in the real world, Harvard was founded in 1636 as a research University almost 400 years ago. It is our oldest institution of higher learning. It is one of the world’s top school producing the world’s great inventions, leaders, and ideas. Smallpox vaccines, anesthesia, insulin, first kidney transplant (Nobel), MicroRNA, GLP-1, first quantum processor, MRI pioneers, and even….wait for it….baking soda were discovered by Harvard. I could wax poetic for pages and pages on the inventions from Harvard. I am sorry, are you grateful to Harvard or do you feel “deceived” by Harvard like The Dumpster? A mass deception bringing you all those inventions? If this is the results of “liberal-run academia,” then please sir, may we have some more?
Harvard has liberals and conservatives. Matter of fact, you could say Harvard makes the bestest of conservatives. Lots of them. Bevies of them. Believe or not, your party is run by Harvard elites like Romney, Cruz, Cotton, DeSantis, Pompeo, Roosevelt, Sasse, Toomey, Stefanik, RFK Jr, Oz, Ross and so many more. Harvard campus conservative organizations are even growing in size, not shrinking.
The first case the author misleads you on is falsifying data in multiple studies. Discovered, determined questionable, and fired. Nothing more and no other connections yet.
The second case, a University President, who is black, so from The Dumpster comes “considered a DEI hire by conservatives,” but he cannot source that lie. Whenever a disaster or tragedy is linked to a woman or a black, people like the dumpster lean into DEI. Helicopter crash – DEI. Harvard President goes Biden-debate in front of Congress — DEI. She really blew it at a Congressional testimony, as in made Joe Biden’s debate look like top quality bad blew it. She also plagiarized numerous times although Harvard says it’s more being dumb than trying to steal and profit. She has corrected some, she opted to resign over the attacks, but she is still employed by Harvard as a professor as the plagiarism was deemed stupid, not evil.
Very different cases not connected, not correlated, in the least at any level except in The Dumpster. It is what it is, not even a footnote in Harvard’s illustrious legacy in defense of our nation. Without Harvard’s research, we would be far worse off. While The Dumpster pits us against each other, writes poetry, makes movies, writes screenplays, Harvard inventions have made and defended America.
Why conservatives deem that liberalism in education results in plagiarism and false data. Or that DEI results in failure every time as if DEI and the Peter Principle are the same thing is ludicrous. The current trend to defund higher education is cutting your future nose to spite your emotional presence. Sending foreign students packing just lowers the quality of students at the schools to what end? For another country to value instead? As we shun more and more of our talent pool, foreign countries are snapping them up just like we snapped up all the German scientists after WWII back when we had our heads screwed on right, instead of screwed up, like The Dumpster.
The Dumpster and other conservatives often lament liberal control in public and upper education. It’s all liberal they say. It’s rigged. I ask: why can’t conservatives get jobs in education? Or the MSM? Are they not capable of reading, writing, and rithmatic? Do they hate benefits? If they feel they are being shut out, are they not capable of creating their own schools? Why so sheepish? If it’s to be, it’s up to me. Go out there and get that teaching job. Take the lower pay, better benefit, to put up with liberal snot-nosed kids. Gopher it.
“Without Harvard’s research we would be way off course.”As a retired academic I disagree. Harvard is one of more than a thousand universities receiving government grants to do research. Note that I said grants not contracts. It receives so many grants bin good part because of its standing in the liberal community. A grant is a gift. A contract is a legal agreement to carry out a piece of work that has been requested by the government to government specifications. One rarely hears of Harvard getting a contract.
Do you mean “academic” as in, “it’s academic….” Just kidding, thanks for your service, and if public school, God bless you for your service.
Yes many schools get grants and contracts. That does not diminish what Harvard did nor deduce that if Harvard did not exist, these inventions would. Believe that line of reasoning would be a non-sequitur.
FYI: Trump cancelled $100M in CONTRACTS; just saying. Previously they had frozen $3.8B in a combination of grants and contracts. Just beating a dead horse :>) One just has to listen :>)
There is no disputing Harvard’s long history of creativity and invention. Nor it’s support of Republican and Democratic parties. Not that other schools don’t play a part. But there is, and always will be, only one Harvard. FYI: wanna guess which school blackballed Barron?
