Despite Her Israel Bashing, AOC Gets a “Promotion” in the House

Leader of “The Squad” and long-time Anti-Israel critic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) just saw her profile grow in Washington after securing a position on the coveted House Energy and Commerce Committee.

During her first term, AOC attempted but failed to secure a position on the committee, having instead focused her energy on bashing Israel. According to The Washington Post, her rise has generated mixed reactions among colleagues, with some harboring resentment over her past confrontational tactics, including calls for primary challenges against Democratic leaders like Reps. Hakeem Jeffries and Richard E. Neal.

However, those who support the Democratic rep from Queens say she has learned to become a “team player.”

“What I have seen about her is her ability to grow, her ability to listen, her ability to take in advice that I and others have provided her,” Rep. Nydia M. Velazquez (D-N.Y.) told the NY Post. “In our caucus meeting, you see a serious, passionate woman who cares deeply about our country and the working class.”

AOC’s latest victory follows a stinging defeat to lead Democrats on the House Oversight Committee. In that contest, her colleagues voted 131 to 84 in favor of 74-year-old Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Virginia), who is currently battling esophageal cancer.

Looking ahead, political observers see this committee appointment as potentially pivotal for her future aspirations, which many speculate could include Senate, gubernatorial, or even presidential campaigns. Needless to say, having AOC spew her anti-Israel rhetoric from atop a more pronounced position is not something many are looking forward to.

In November, AOC and 17 other senators voted in favor of blocking critical arms sales to Israel. Like her fellow Squad members, she also blamed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) for the Democrats’ historic loss on election day.

“If people want to talk about members of Congress being overly influenced by a special interest group pushing a wildly unpopular agenda that pushes voters away from Democrats, then they should be discussing AIPAC,” she posted on X.

However, AOC’s libelous claims simply don’t match reality. According to a Harvard-Harris poll, Americans overwhelmingly back Israel over Hamas, with 81% expressing support. Even within her own party, 76% of Democrats stand with Israel.

The committee probably requires a certain number of GOPs and Dems. So they put her on the committee to avoid putting her on a more meaningful committee. Trump will drill. Economy is good. So she won’t do much harm. If she is lucky, maybe Trump will pet her till she purrs..
