Comer: Is Tim Walz a Chinese Espionage Asset?

Comer: Is Tim Walz a Chinese Espionage Asset?

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, the House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), has launched an investigation into Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s alleged connections with China. The timing of this investigation is particularly significant, as Walz has recently been announced as the Democratic vice-presidential nominee alongside Kamala Harris. The investigation raises serious questions about whether Walz, a seasoned politician with deep ties to China, has been compromised by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) through a strategy known as “elite capture.”

A History of Engagement or Compromise?

Governor Walz’s relationship with China spans decades, beginning with his first visit in 1989 when he taught English in Foshan, shortly after the Tiananmen Square massacre. Since then, Walz has reportedly visited China over 30 times, an unusually high number of trips for a U.S. politician not directly involved in foreign policy. These visits, according to Rep. Comer, form part of a broader pattern of engagement that may have left Walz vulnerable to CCP influence operations.

One of the key concerns highlighted by Comer is Walz’s role in facilitating educational exchanges between the U.S. and China. In the early 1990s, Walz organized trips to China for high school students, and in 1994, he established a private company, Educational Travel Adventures, Inc., to coordinate these trips. This company, which reportedly operated until 2003, was dissolved just four days after Walz took office as a U.S. Congressman in 2007. Comer has pointed to these activities as potential avenues through which the CCP could have cultivated a relationship with Walz, leveraging his influence over young American students and future leaders.

The Technique of Elite Capture

The crux of the Oversight Committee’s investigation revolves around the concept of “elite capture,” a strategy employed by the CCP to co-opt influential figures in political, cultural, and academic circles. The goal of elite capture is to subtly influence these individuals, who in turn, can sway public opinion and policy in ways that benefit the Chinese regime. This strategy is insidious because it often operates under the radar, with targets unaware that they are being manipulated.

Examples of elite capture are not limited to Walz. In recent years, concerns have been raised about the CCP’s influence on university campuses across the United States through Confucius Institutes—educational programs ostensibly aimed at promoting Chinese language and culture. However, these institutes have been criticized for their role in spreading CCP propaganda and suppressing academic freedom. Similarly, there have been allegations that prominent business leaders and politicians have been compromised by lucrative deals and partnerships with Chinese entities, leading them to adopt positions that align more closely with Beijing’s interests.

In the case of Governor Walz, Comer’s investigation seeks to determine whether his extensive engagement with China, including his fellowship at Macau Polytechnic University and his participation in events alongside senior Chinese officials, represents an example of elite capture. Of particular concern is Walz’s role in speaking at the 27th National Convention for the U.S.-China Peoples Friendship Association in Minnesota in 2019, where he shared the stage with the President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC). The U.S. State Department has identified CPAFFC as a Beijing-based organization tasked with “co-opting subnational governments” and influencing state and local leaders to promote the CCP’s global agenda.

FBI Involvement and Potential Compromise

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Chairman Comer has formally requested the FBI’s involvement in the investigation. In his letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Comer emphasized that the Committee is concerned about the depth of Walz’s ties to CCP-connected entities and officials. Comer’s letter specifically requests that the FBI provide all relevant documents and information related to any Chinese entities or individuals with whom Walz may have engaged or partnered. The request also includes any records of warnings or guidance provided to Walz by the FBI regarding the risks of engaging with the CCP or its proxies.

Comer’s concerns are not unfounded. According to FBI briefings provided to the Oversight Committee earlier this year, the Bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force is actively investigating activities similar to those alleged against Walz. This task force is focused on combating foreign influence operations, particularly those orchestrated by the CCP, which are designed to undermine U.S. national security and influence American politics from within.

The stakes of this investigation are high. Should the FBI uncover evidence that Walz has been compromised by his connections with China, it could have far-reaching implications not only for his vice-presidential candidacy but also for the broader U.S.-China relationship. The possibility that a candidate for the second-highest office in the United States could be under the influence of a foreign power is alarming and underscores the importance of thoroughly vetting those in positions of power.

The Larger Implications

The investigation into Governor Walz’s ties to China is a stark reminder of the lengths to which the CCP will go to exert its influence globally. The concept of elite capture, once considered a distant threat, is now being scrutinized in the context of American politics at the highest levels. As this investigation unfolds, it will be crucial to examine not only the specific actions and engagements of Governor Walz but also the broader tactics used by the CCP to infiltrate and influence democratic institutions.

In his statement announcing the investigation, Rep. Comer left no room for doubt about the seriousness of the allegations. “Americans should be deeply concerned that Governor Walz, Kamala Harris’s vice-presidential running mate, has a longstanding and cozy relationship with China,” Comer said. He further emphasized that “the American people deserve to fully understand how deep Governor Walz’s relationship with China goes.”

As the investigation progresses, it will be essential to determine whether Walz’s connections with China are simply the result of a long career in international engagement or if they represent something more sinister. The outcome of this investigation could have profound implications for the 2024 election and the future of U.S. foreign policy, particularly in relation to China.

ACZ Editor: It does not have to be a formal spy relationship for China to benefit from Walz’s emotional connections. The psychology of persuasion says that Walz is compromised by “commitment/consistency” meaning that because he has been sympathetic to China for a large part of his life, he will be sympathetic in the future, no matter how bad for the U.S. – because recognizing that he could be wrong about his perception of China’s benevolence is more difficult than believing his advisors and his own eyes when China turns treacherous.

Oh Puh-leez! He went there as a student and developed a travel/teaching business. He also spent his time in Congress looking at human rights abuses in China.

This is typical slander by Republicans, who don’t understand that understanding possible adversaries might be a good thing… Just more Trumpian isolationism.

Why don’t you take a look at Trump’s trips to Russia, and the compromat that comes with it… All his business deals, the Russian “advisors” to his campaign, the Russian billionaires that bought his real estate for 50 times its real worth?

    • Joe Gilbertson

Yes, lets just deflect back to Trump. Let’s not consider that this liberal asshole may be bought off.

      • Joseph S. Bruder

Whereas Felon Trump was definitely bought off. He favored Putin on the world stage, said he believed Putin rather than US security personnel, invited Russians into the Oval Office, had Russian fingerprints all over his election campaign – he favored the Russians at every point of his term in office.

Republicans accuse Democrats of all these bad things because the only standards they know are how they themselves act. “Felon Trump can be bought off, or would try to buy off someone he needs – so therefore everyone else outside of Felon Trump’s circle must think the same.” Republicans have been on a downward criminal spiral since Nixon and Reagan.

        • Joe Gilbertson

Trump is a billionaire, he can’t be bought off. Republicans accuse democrats of bad things because they do bad things.

And again, let’s deflect to Trump and away from Walz the China-phile whom the Chines intelligence services certainly targeted (the chances are 100%, I am not uncertain). Might want to check with the FBI to see if he reported it.

          • Joseph S. Bruder

First of all, Felon Trump is most likely not a billionaire. He’s leveraged to the hilt on all the properties he owns, and without a constant stream of donations coming into his campaign where he can skim a large percentage off the top, he would probably be foreclosed on. He owes more than a half-billion in payments for various judgements against him. The only thing that might be worth billions, on paper, is his interest in Truth Social, but that thing had income of less than a million dollars but lost 375 Million dollars IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2024. He can’t sell until September, and when he does try to sell it will probably crash. Not to mention that when it’s clear that Felon Trump is going to lose the election (and/or he’s sitting in a jail cell), the stock price will tank anyway, because there’s no incentive for foreign nations to put any more money in Felon Trump’s pockets.

If he can’t be bought off, why is he always pandering to donors for his campaign? Why does he need $45 million from Leon Skum, if he has that kind of money himself? Why does he sell bibles with his name attached to them? He made $300K off of them, and $100K from his trading cards. If he’s really worth $4B, or even $1B, how is it worth his time to do this? It’s chump change. It’s like a doctor risking his medical license by selling a few pills for $50. Selling steaks, jewelry, and sneakers? C’mon, if he was even a halfway good businessman, he’d be pulling in $50M or $100M in income from $1B.

And of course, Felon Trump WAS bought off as President. Jared got $2B in Saudi money. Ivanka got millions of dollars in trademarks from the Chinese. Trump got millions from the Saudis for putting his name on a couple of golf tournaments. Foreign governments lined up to reserve rooms at his hotel in Washington. None of this would have happened if A) Felon Trump was actually a billionaire, and B) he wasn’t President of the United States.

Walz was an unknown person, just a teacher leading students on tours, before he ran for Congress. Why would the Chinese target that? Just because he has had a lifelong interest in the country doesn’t mean he’s a spy. There are lots of people of Chinese descent, from other Asian countries, from Russia, from various places in Europe – they’re not all spies just because they have a cultural connection to another country. That’s just paranoid thinking. Take a long look at Felon Trump before you go accusing Democrats of being dishonest.

And yes, free speech blocked once again. My posts are regularly block by extreme free speech.

    • Joe Gilbertson

That is all in your head. I haven’t seen any poetry from you in a while…

  3. frank stetson

Nope, it’s not the vpn being the trigger…….something is blocking some pretty tame and short passages.

    • Joseph S. Bruder

It’s just a buggy website… Old Joe Gilbertson pays little attention and even littler money to his “hobby” website.

  4. frank stetson

I just would like transparency so I could write around his restrictions, of which he claims he has none. Then again, when I offered to send him the blocked passages, sometimes down to 10-20 words, he does not want them because he claims they don’t exist.

Think he does that a lot: there is no covid IF you do not test…… Trump is not a liar IF you do not trust anyone or anything else.

I could care less that JOE GILBERTSON says he’s for extreme free speech and blocks nothing but song lyrics and poems UNLESS they are posted by Larry Horist. What I care about is that he cannot share the restrictions which is a lack of transparency on top of restriction of free speech. And even that’s OK UNTIL the time you lie and say it does not happen, you don’t restrict, etc. Which he has done over and over.

I can understand cheap. But lazy and incompetent is a bridge too far.

Thanks goodness I write these mostly for myself so not that much a loss, to me. And probably to most here :>) But at this point Joe’s adherence to EXTREME FREE SPEECH is:

    B U S T E D.

    • Joe Gilbertson

You never offered to send me blocked passages. You insist on making up conspiracies when the problem is that you can’t work the basic controls on a web site.

      • frank stetson

JG: Uh, yes I did, at least twice. I have one more…….

  5. frank stetson

One more try, in parts: PART 1

Joe, why is this plain-speaking soldier – teacher – public servant an asshole? And do you really expect a lot of Chinese pay-offs to potentially OWN Minnesota? Well they sure got one hell of a payoff given his new job……..

Why not look at the real assholes here: Comer and Jordan. Incompetent, Inexperienced, Ineffective, these guys are the proverbial twins that can’t litigate their way out of a paper bag. As Trump’s goon squad, they push whatever conspiracy theory comes over the transom.

I can give you many an accomplishment by Walz in and out of government: hard to find one for either Jordan or Comer and certainly the House Oversight Committee investigations under these two fools has been an adject failure of immense proportions. But there are some similarities: Comer and Walz are farmers and Jordon like to play the bad sheep. There is stops. Walz served his country, the next generations by teaching, and then the public. Comer and Jordan have served themselves. They have never succeeded, they have always failed in the House Oversight Committee with the worst results in history. They only are successful litigating rumors on FOX. They only investigate Democrats, they stopped all investigations of any Republican (Trump). These are just facts; you got anything good coming from these investigations to make it worth the expense.?

Again, what is an ACZ editor?

    • Joe Gilbertson

      • frank stetson

ah, how 50’s of you! thanks

  6. frank stetson

    part 2
He’s just opened one for Harris work at the border; I am sure she will be guilty on FOX and nowhere else.

He is Trump’s Gestapo; he has only gone after Democrats. He and his boy toy, Jim Jordan, are incompetent. As Trump’s man of the House, he has either stopped or declined all Trump related investigations.

In July Comer expanded his investigation into Joe Biden’s mental acuity. Five months to go and what a great use of taxpayer’s dollars.

His investigation into Hunter Biden’s China influence is a bust.

His investigation into Hunter’s Ukraine ties is a bust.

His attempt to hold Wray in contempt of Congress went bust.

His taking on the Biden Crime Family tied Joe to nothing.

He has lost witnesses, had witnesses recant, supposedly they had dozens of whistleblowers in the FBI that never appeared. Jordan has them in his closet with the gay wrestlers, I guess. They can’t even turn over whistleblower testimony (because it does not exist).

His IRS whistleblower got blown away by a half dozen counter witnesses.

Who is James Comer Jr; he’s the Kentucky representative to the House since 2016 and head of the House Oversight Committee which has gone Trump-woke against Democrats. Previously he had a number of State jobs including Agricultural Commissioner. The guy is a farmer, owns one too. He lost his bid to be Governor. He’s got a BS in Agriculture which he uses well to spread manure wherever he goes. He advocates against gay marriage and abortion but wants to trade with Cuba. His farm has grown from 6 acres to 2,300 acres. In 2023, he had 1,600 acres. He operates under a number of shell companies to keep arm’s distance — guess he’s got some smarts. The shell companies are NOT transparent.

At least Jordan, Comer’s hit man, has his Masters and a JD from some no-name Lutheran College. He was a wrestling coach with pedophile allegations due to his chumminess with his suicidal pedo boss and mentor.

These schmucks replaced Jamie Raskin. Raskin graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts in government with a concentration in political theory. He received a J.D. degree magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Raskin was a Constitutional Law professor at American University for 25 years, hey my English/Journalism Professor was AU, she had blue hair and fire engine red lips in the early 70’s and was a staunch conservative. Raskin was General Counsel for Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition and represented Ross Perot is his bid for President. One may differ on his politics, but on talent, experience, and education, for the job, Raskin runs circles around these two incompetent bozos, combined.

No, Walz can feel safe if Comer and Jordan are leading the hit squad.

PArt 3: once again, one paragraph, in the middle, with nothing inflammatory, I could parse through all 20-30 words to find the culprit but whatever it is, it does not make logical sense,

    • Joe Gilbertson

Are you in your advanced dementia stage, or is it an accidental delete from the alcohol jitters.

Don’t think you are being censored, in fact we normally don’t even read what you write…

      • frank stetson

JG: it happens, I observe it, I report it, and your denial, even with your name calling uplift, does not change that.

I agree, it’s not being read. How could it —— it’s being blocked just like I said. Do you think you must have a human to block something? Aren’t you a sw engineer that knows all bout the code? If you don’t know it, then it’s a program issue. And ignoring it will never make it not happen. It’s inconsistent but reoccurring regularly.

  8. frank stetson

Joe, why do you discount my observations just because you don’t like what I say in general?

Human to human, why do you chose just to not believe me?

Why do you chose not to even have the curiosity to investigate?

I agree they are not being read by a human. I have said that it’s automated. I have said I have examples. I can prove you are blocking based on something. I have posted the parts, there is only two paragraphs, 20 or 30 words long, and they are blocked, will be blocked, consistently.

I cannot fix stupid, but I can provide those facts to say you are wrong, it is most certainly happening. It seems somewhat inconsistent therefore not exactly jumping out as to exactly why —– but you can rest 100% assured that my observations are accurate and it is happening.

The rest is up to you, but ignoring it will not change anything. It is just the lazy way to address the issue.

But don’t tell us you are a free speech extremist that restricts very little. That’s not true and I can prove it anytime you like, all your caterwauling against that aside.

  9. Americafirst

Stetsybaby, why do YOU choose not to believe any of us except for your posting cronies? Isn’t that dialog? Or are you again trying to belittle us trying to take our rights to a clean dialog. You sowed the seeds; you are now reaping what you sowed. What you say, we also can say. You are desstroying yourself.

  10. frank stetson

AF: I have not a clue what’s got your goat, again, this morning. Got anything specific or just a general kvetch?

If you’re talking Joe, right back at ya.

I mean, I observe, I report, he denies, I say he’s wrong based on observation, he denies. Are you saying that’s me not believing his denial based on zero evidence? Because I do believe he’s denying that my observation might be true.

Belittle? Only in your dreams dear.

    • Americafirst

Keep it up, Frankie, the dictator. You are worse than the KKK!
