China Willing to use “Force” to Retake Taiwan

China will do whatever it takes to regain control of Taiwan, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday.

“We make no promise to abandon the use of force, and retain the option of taking all necessary measures,” said Xi, adding that unification is “inevitable” and that independence would only bring “hardship” to Taiwan.

Taiwan and China have been ruled separately since 1949, when Nationalists loyal to Chiang Kai-shek lost to Mao Zedong’s Communists.

The Nationalists established a democracy on the island of Taiwan and China has sought to regain control of it ever since.

The United States does not recognize Taiwan as an independent nation, but has chafed at China’s efforts to control the territory.

As stated on the US State Department’s official website, “maintaining strong, unofficial relations with Taiwan is a major US goal in line with the US desire to further peace and stability in Asia.”

On the day before Xi’s comments, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen made it clear Taiwan would never submit to Chinese rule:

“I want to reiterate that Taiwan will never accept ‘one country, two systems,’” she said, referring to the Chinese policy which grants a level of autonomy under Chinese supervision.

“Here I want to appeal to China that it must see correctly the existence of the Republic of China, Taiwan, must respect the 23 million Taiwanese people’s resolve for freedom and democracy, and must handle existing agreements equitably and peacefully. It must also be that only organizations authorized by the two governments can sit down for talks.”

According to an opinion poll, roughly 75% believe the two nations are seperate, only 14% believe they are the same nation.

This is absolutely NOTHING NEW ! Tensions have been higher and only because of US and international action in the past such as arming Tawain with missiles and other deterrents made the Communist Chinese stand down. After 8 miserable years of Obama Prison Bitch foreign policy have the Chinese become embolden to expand not only to Tawain but areas of Japan , The Philippines and South Korea. They’ve build manmade military islands in all these areas with no push back by Prison Bitch Obama and military leaders in China have been talking about attacking US and allied positions in Asia just as Imperial Japan did before WWII. We need to take this threat seriously as the Communist Politicians may not be capable of deterring the goals of the Peoples Republic Army and it’s keaders. Remember ! During the time of Chairman Mao nearly 100 million people were killed by the Peoples Republic Army despite objections made by Communist Party officials. A comprehensive defense policy for the region is long overdue and the trade policies being championed by Trump may have to touch on Chinese military belligerence as well as fair trade and intellectual property infringement.

I spent the first couple of years of my life in Taiwan. I was born in California a thousand years ago and our family was sent to Formosa within months of me being born. I remember very little but when I see the pictures/slides Dad and Mom took it takes me back there a bit. All the while since then, the old man said China’s going to take back Taiwan. He died in 2007. Mom died before him but we all had some allegiance to Taiwan. Now it looks like it’s getting closer to the “takeover” actually happening. Over the years China’s been quietly perfecting their war machines, their war footing. Now it’s beginning to look/sound like what the old man cautioned us on… China’s emergence unto the world. I’m guessing it ain’t going to be pretty.

China is making a great impact on the world with it’s belt and road policy, and the especially effective rail portion of this effort. However, China needs to learn that people prefer self-autonomy, and Taiwan has the right to maintain freedom with it’s own democracy. No dictator in the world is content with their own territory, and each seeks expansion by whatever means. Examples are Putin, Stalin, Hitler, Xi Jinping, etc. If they want to fight over Taiwan, then so be it. The world must be prepared and ready to defend Taiwan and maintain democracy there.

Just because Taiwan is close by, does not mean that it belongs to China. We do not claim Cuba just because it is close to us. Taiwan is more a friend to the USA than Mexico is. Long live Taiwan !!!
