Assange vs. Washington Post – Whose Crimes are Greater?
I have never really been a fan of Julian Assange or Wikileaks. His stated mission seems to be to publish as much government secret information as possible and maximize the embarrassment of the U.S. Government. As a former intelligence officer, we are natural enemies, since the potential harm he could do to my former colleagues, and indeed America, is vast and far reaching.
Assange is charged with a variety of crimes, hacking and colluding with traitors, etc. They are serious crimes, and he may have to serve many years in jail when its all done.
But it occurs to me the Washington Post, and other mainstream media outlets are certainly guilty of similar crimes.
Follow my logic.
When WaPo cites an “anonymous source” isn’t that source often traitorously revealing confidential, sometimes even top secret, information that is restricted within the White House, information that they would be fired for revealing?
Often that information is exceedingly damaging to those who run our government, and is used, not to informed their readership of an important issue, but rather for cynical political purposes, to support the political agenda of the media outlet.
Hmmmm… Assange is at least an idealist who believes he is on the side of angels. And, in fact, he has released information that has exposed some very dangerous situations within our own government. It is with grudging reluctance that I admit that we may be better off for his efforts.
But while the Washington Post uses anonymous sources sometimes for the public good, most of the time they use them to collect information whose SOLE PURPOSE is to embarrass the President politically. WaPo is NOT idealist, they do NOT believe they are on the side of angels, they purposely and cynically engage in biased political discourse.
And in case you don’t recall, the Washington Post collaborated with Edward Snowden, arguably the worst thief of top secret government information in history, and certainly much worse than anyone Wikileaks published (Wikileaks did not publish his original material, but they collaborated with Snowden later). Did anyone go to jail for that? Are there any WaPo writers under indictment? No
The fact is that we have long tolerated dirty tricks and unethical behavior in the mainstream media, for the obvious reason that they are powerful and trusted by their readership. A media backlash against a politician has always been a feared phenomenon, and few politicians have the guts to stand against them. Trump is the rare exception.
But further, as intelligence officer turned publisher, I believe there is value in allowing journalists leeway in pursuing a story. I believe that strict enforcement in every case would cause damage to the “fourth estate” and make it less effective as a counterweight to (what is potentially) government propaganda. We are purposely a “noisy” society because we have seen that strictly “orderly” societies (like Hitler’s Germany and the old Soviet Union) do not work well for very long. Freedom is messy and full of exceptions. We allow for exceptions sometimes if the intentions are good.
However for the last two years, I believe the Washington Post has been guilty of criminal acts to advance its biased political agenda and to launch propagandistic narratives. Its corruption of government officials to betray the White House as “anonymous” sources it certainly no worse than Assange collaborating with hackers who have hacked into DNC networks. And it has been shown over and over again the Washington Post has not been entirely partial to the truth.
The only reason Assange’s head is on the chopping block is that he is not a mainstream journalist. He is an outsider, he doesn’t follow a liberal agenda, he has not maintained the altruistic journalist’s facade. If he had those liberal outlets at his back, he would not have had to spend seven years in the Ecuadorian embassy, and he would not be in custody now. But Assange is a media orphan and is easy pickin’s for his enemies.
Once again, I don’t like Assange, and I don’t like the Washington Post. But either they both should go to jail, or neither.
But what do you think? Who is guilty of the greater crimes? Assange? Or the Washington Post?
I am much less afraid of Julian Assange than the Washington Post or New York times editorial teams. We can argue about the Governments need for secrecy and need hide internal discourse from the citizens of this country. But, the efforts of the media seem to have become to convince us of the “truth” that isn’t actually true. When we don’t know the “truth” that is when democracy fails and hidden agendas work to undermine the citizens of a free country. Come to think about it I would rather have a Julian Assange running around to expose the “lazy” corruption of the people that get outed by Wikileaks. We may not like all that is revealed. but think about the danger of completely eliminating this function. What “truth” would we know that just ain’t so? What would be the impact, risk, danger in that false information. Actually, looking at the “intent” of the founding fathers Julian Assange is an journalist. The Washington Post and New York Times are businesses.

The way I see it Hillary Clinton has done more damage to his country than both of them combined and nobody has said anything about her .She is still waling the streets WHY?
Because she is above the law, rich, and powerful. She can order the elimination of anyone in her way with the blink of an eye and not think of it twice. Epstein is a typical example of the Clinton or NWO Reach
I will say it again Hillary Clinton has done more damage than either one of these and why nobody is taking about that.
So who killed Seth Rich? The treachery, deception & scope of the reach to get their power &retaliation is like fascism. Perhaps Seth was told to meet for information, He went and was murdered, stabbed in the back. Assange inferred that Seth was working with him. There was much outrage in America over the death of Jamal K., but not our US citizens S Rich. We are loosing America to treachery that our justice does not prosecute. The wrong people are in power. the last best time for America. Illegals flood & dems are anti American who do not care to preserve the USA. Slander and liable are norms in journalism and tv commentary from the left, people are brain washed with this propaganda.
Jullian Assange was released from Ecudor embassy at a time when Mueller could no long keep the fake investigation open after wasting mega millions of US tax dollars.
So convienent that Julian will take the focus of Americans is he is brought here.
And Mueller like Comey leave their left foot in the door for dem_wit loonies to continue their self righteous jealous attacks. Make remains great for now with
President Trump in the Oval Office.
If any of the World Wars had been fought with todays Newspapers reporting, the US would never have won. They report top secret information like it is the latest Kardashion adventure. They have no ethics and no patriotism. Greed and infamy are their ideal goals.
I will take one Julian Assange who did not publish actual top secret info. He just embarrassed those who needed to be embarrassed and even then, the crooks were not punished.
If this nation actually was drawn into a real war, we would lose it in less than a week. Our entry level military candidates couldn’t even pass the physical exam,not to mention the intellectual needs of any branch of service. Of course their patriotism is non-existant as we have a full generation of “Me”, “not my President”, “need an award for everything they do”, soft, useless SOB’s that could care less beyond their own needs. Our Congress is worthless as well as they try to win wars from the Capital building. We have not won a war since WWII because of this and the world know it. I did my service in the US Army 12-66/12-68 RA16897089, and I consider it one of the three important points in my life that made me a man today. The other two were when I married my wife over 50 years ago, and when I became a Master Mason 32d. There are a lot of us old “farts” (72) out there that can and would still pick up a weapon and use it against an enemy without hesitation if an invastion should take place. Going overseas is a little out of the question for us but then we don’t have much time left and have used our lives to further America. To many cry babies couldn’t hold a candle up to what we are still capable of doing. And our government wants to disarm us. hahahhaha They will face the largest Army the nation has ever seen if they try. Democrats are trying to destroy this nation and out ability to protect it. Those that vote Democratic are supporters of the enemy, socialism, and the destruction of The United States of America.

Things that should be commonly known, but have been HIDDEN behind a cloak of “TOP SECRET” because of their criminal nature. The filthy Washington Post, in contrast is the PROPAGANDA arm of the DNC “Secret Government” that is working fiendishly to enslave us all.
