University of Missouri: ROTC Members Told not to Wear Uniforms on Veterans' Day
Despite having managed to oust the school’s president, University of Missouri students are not yet satisfied. MU President Timothy W. Wolfe announced his resignation Monday after months of protests including a hunger strike and threats from the school’s football team to boycott the remainder of the season. Upset students are now setting their sites on the military.
ROTC officials actually warned student members about the dangers of wearing their uniforms on campus … on Veterans’ Day. Here’s the official email:
“There have been threats made against Veterans and Soldiers in the COMO area therefore as a force protection measure do not wear your uniforms to class this week. You should wear your uniform for LAB only and you should not wear it around campus at all.”
The Starbucks on campus was forced to close down on Veterans’ Day because student employees were afraid to come to work due to threats.
Campus police (MUPD) have offered a sympathetic ear to students, offering to respond whenever they feel hurt or offended. In fact, the school sent out an email instructing students to contact police when confronted with “incidents of hateful and/or hurtful speech.”
The situation at MU is out of control. Since when do students force the military to be afraid or ashamed to wear uniforms on a college campus?
