Will Jill Biden ask Joe to retire?

Will Jill Biden ask Joe to retire?

I pose that question because it has been the subject of speculation on various networks.  CNN’s Michael Smerconish even made that subject his question of the day.  Sixty-three percent of the 35,000 viewers who responded said “yes.”  That is noteworthy when you consider that the demographics of Smerconish’s program lean to the left — heavily Democrat voters.

A recent CBS/Ipsos Poll showed that an astounding 86 percent of voters believe that Biden is too old to serve another term.  That view is held by 91 percent of independents.  The CBS Poll was taken after the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s Report on Biden’s handling of classified government documents.

The Report clearly indicated that Biden had broken the law by “willfully” possessing the documents and sharing them with others.   Hur used prosecutorial discretion to not indict the President.  So much for the rule-of-law.

Biden supporters were highly critical of the references in the Report to Biden’s age and memory issues.  Those details had to be shared in the Report because they formed the basis for the decision to not indict Biden. Several of the media’s former prosecutors on CNN and MSNBC made that point.

However one views the Report, there can be no disagreement that it enflamed an issue that has been dogging Biden since he announced his run for a second term.  It has become Biden’s personal version of Whack-A-Mole.  No matter how many times he tries to slam it down, it pops again.

Team Biden has mounted an all-out hyperbolic defense of the President.  They claim that after a very thorough investigation, Biden has been exonerated.  That is not exactly true.  According to the Report, the decision not to pursue the matter was based on his age and the fact that the Trump case was more serious.  Nowhere in the Report did it affirmatively state that Biden was not guilty of a crime.  Objective voters reading the Report will see language that clearly points to a crime.

With regard to the “elderly man” issue, Biden supporters claim that he has amazing energy and that his memory is excellent.  Vice President Harris was trotted out to make those arguments in the strongest possible terms.  The problem with that defense is the people see otherwise – and that is obvious from the polling data.

The final defense narrative is that the Report was a political hit job since Hur is a Republican.  This puts the Democrats’ public narratives in conflict.  When Trump criticized the Department of Justice and special counsels as political hacks, Democrats jumped all over him for undermining American institutions.  They claim that those working for the Justice Department, and other agencies, are nonpolitical – just hard-working bureaucrats.  Now that the proverbial shoe is on the other foot the hypocrisy kicks in.  And it should not be forgotten that Hur works for Democrat Attorney General Merrick Garland, who appointed him.

The idea of Biden stepping down is getting more traction among political operatives, pundits and newsies – including those who have henceforth been on Biden’s team.  Guys like David Axelrod and James Carville are expressing concerns about Biden’s ability to get ahead of the age issue.  Carville said that Biden’s rejecting a half hour interview during Super Bowl was a mistake.  According to Carville, Biden not only missed an opportunity to appear before the biggest audience in television without paying ad costs, but he gave the impression that he was not physically or mentally up to such a prolonged unscripted event.  Axelrod said that the Report “goes to the core of what is plaguing Biden politically now, which is a widespread fear that he’s not up to it.” Axelrod added, “Fair or not, you can’t unring the bell.”

Pundits across the board are now speculating who will take up the race if Biden drops out.  But Democrats do not have a strong bench.  California Governor Gavin Newsom has been positioning for a possible run for months already.  Of course, Harris will expect to get the nod.  There is even speculation about former First Lady Michelle Obama –although you can probably discount that one.  The only other candidate who has his name mentioned is Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker.

Questions of Biden bowing out of the race are being raised more often these days – suggesting that it is within the realm of possibility.  Some political folks are not asking the question but actually suggesting that he should get out.  They do not always say it in so many words, but the implications are clear.

When strategizing a campaign, it is necessary to look to the future to how key issues may unfold. Will the economy get better?  Will there be a reduction in illegal border crossings?  Will wars end?   In terms of the age issue, there can be no such optimism.  Biden cannot escape the fact that he is an elderly man who will get older and frailer with each passing day.  At his age, a major health event could happen at any moment – even death.  And it is not just a matter of making it to election day.  The public is looking four years into the future – envisioning what an 86-year-old Biden will look and act like.  It is not a pretty picture.

He cannot make concerns over his physical and mental health go away merely by personal assurances from him or his staff. I am not sure that he can assuage the legitimate concerns at all.  Perhaps it IS time for Dr. Jill to intervene.

So, there ‘tis.

She had better hurry. Killery Clinton might get involved. She might cause Joe to become depressed. And we know how that works out for Clinton’s circle of associates.

  2. FRANK STETSON

A Horist walks into a bar, bartender asks: “why the long face?”

Horist is continually and consistently running Biden memory, Biden age, Biden document stories. He repeats himself when under stress. Is it a sign of age, or ageism? This time his spin is “WILL JILL BIDEN ASK JOE TO RETIRE?” Amazingly, the word Jill is only used one time after that provocative headline just a mere two words before the story’s end as he calls Dr. Biden, “Dr. Jill.” Guess I’m OK with Melanoma the communist now.

And then he rolls out the SoS about his, and others, fears about Biden’s age:
    – Whopping 86% say too old, 91% of indys. But Horist forgets, must be memory issue, to note it’s 73% for Democrats, much higher for the Horists of the world, and that 59% of all voters think both Trump and Biden, and probably Horist, are too old and only 27% think only Biden alone is too old — wanna bet the Demographics on that one…. Oh yeah, 63% of all voters think Trump is too old. Horist’s sacred source of spin: *https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/poll-americans-on-biden-age/story?id=107126589*

My question for Partisan Horist: is it better to elect an old man with memory issues or a sex abusing digital rapist who can’t remember what his first wife looked like?

Next, and important to the Jill question is the Hur Report, Horist says it’s all good, proves him guilty, yada yada boring. It appears that Joe is exonerated but guilty and Trump is guilty but exonerated for voting purposes.

My question for Spinmaster Horist: is it better to elect an old man with memory issues who forgot some documents or a guy who took a moving van full of documents, wouldn’t give em back while having communists living at his home, a guy defrauded his own University, stole from his own Charity Foundation (while taking the tax break), his business is criminally guilty of tax fraud and he is liable for cheating on asset valuations, all of this adding up to close to half a billion in fines and illegal to do business in NY for three years (does that include being President for NY?).

Oh yeah, and in the Horist tradition of beating a dead Horist, from the court record: he got her alone, he slammed her against the wall, pinning her, as he reached up under her dress, pulled down her tights, reached up under her panties, and shoved his Presidential fingers up her vagina, penetrating her as in digitally raping her. Heh, if Horist gotta repeat the sins, Stetson gotta repeat it. And a number of other victims testified in court that the other old, forgetful man that 63% of the voters say is too old to run, does repeat himself. Just like Horist, and me!

Then Horist lists some liberal character witnesses saying they have concerns. My Republican list for Trump starts with Liz Cheney’s thoughts and goes downhill from there. I will spare you.

Good story Larry, when do you get to Jill?

Horist has fallen and he can’t giddyup.

Hey Frank are we confused. To start Biden is a traitor. Look it up. He has gone against his oath of office, opened the border to his friends who are terrorist, sold American property to his buddies, China, stolen from the citizens of America, gone against what he claims to be Catholic, approves of murdering unborn for support and money. It just keeps going. Gives everything to his ILLEGALS and dose pretty much nothing for Veterans. Committed adultry with Jill while still married. Supports his son Hunter as to make more money and refuses to accept his grand daughter Navy. Yet he is never charged or tried for his crimes. Then you, like all traitor liberals claim the hoax charges against Trump are truth full. The awards he has been ordered to pay are not way over the top but totally uncalled for. REASON. The democratic judges have been paid off by George Soros, who might I add is also a traitor to his home land and wanted for crimes against them during WWII. Maybe before you spew lies you should take a coarse in ” true” world history and the constitution. You know the thing called the law of the land which Joe boy and every brother of mine who served in uniform took.

Navet: Much of my family is navy; one stormed out of SD on a partially fixed ship to Pearl on that fateful day, another got married to a nj chicitta girl on the canal; another died there on his sub. Thanks for the service.

If you could prove anything illegal, you could be a rich patriot instead of a sorry scuttle-but sailor.

My proof is court record evidence reviewed by a jury of peers with dems and repubs, black and white, male and female where they agreed that he’s guilty or liable based on the evidence.. Evidence that even you can read the transcripts. Any one of the jurors could have hung the thing and they didn’t b

How many trials, how many convictions does it take you to see the crook and cad for what he has become. Next one is criminal, end of March start, he is toast, and there would be jail time. I have said to protect the Presidency, let him serve at home, off net. But he has no contrition, no remorse, and if he wants to continue to live the lie, lock him up. Give him Cohen’s old cell.

It will be a really interesting race if Biden drops out and Trump is taken out by the courts, whether directly or by conviction. Then what? The shortest election cycle on record, open to all. Who knows who we will get, or who will win?

I do not think Harris is electable unless the right cannot field an electable candidate. Newsom is the most likely on the left, but he is generating baggage as I write this. MB could do it easily, but she is a very unlikely candidate. So who else? Going to be fascinating to see who pops up out of the woodwork. Maybe the right can come up with a REAL Republican who the country can get behind and elect. We haven’t seen many of them, most Republican politicians think Trump walks on water.

    • larry Horist

Andrew Gutterman ….Nikki Haley will still get my vote in the Florida primary even if she has dropped out. I think she is staying in to be in the wings if Trump faulters. Otherwise it is Trump for the GOP. I think there is a possibility that Biden will have to drop out, but the Dems do not have a good bench. Newsome has been playing the Haley role — presenting himself as the logical choice. If it does turn out to be a Trump/Biden race, it will unify the nation. Everyone will be unhappy with the political institutions that nominated guys that two-thirds of the nation do not want. It does make RFK, Jr. look more interesting — but he is far from winning in the General Election.

  4. THE ADMIRAL

JOE, get the fuck out, your not our President. Do you know how much you fucked up our country??????????????????????

    • Andrew Gutterman

Much less than Trump, who enacted a sweeping tax cut that expires at the end of next year, raising taxes for everyone for everyone but corporations. If you earn money, you will pay higher taxes in 2026.

      • larry Horist

Andrew Gutterman … I am amazed at on of the persistent widely held belief that has no basis in fact. Corporations and businesses do not PAY taxes. The consumer pays them in the retail price. It is one of the expenses that is included on the balance sheet and that that is computed into the setting of prices. Folks seem to understand that prices will go up when there an increase in the tax on gas or cigarettes. They understand that an increase in the property tax is reflected in an increase in the monthly rent. But for some reason they lose sight of the fact for all the other retail goods and services. That old stick it to the corporation is nothing more than sticking it to the consumer. The only thing that is taxable is the productivity of an individual. It is okay to have different avenues for taxation, but to think that changes who ultimately pays them is nonsense.

You complain about Trump’s tax cut and then you complain when it ends. Which is it? Perhaps Biden should extend it. But at least you indirectly admit that the average folks did benefit for the Trump tax cut — something the left lies about. And the Trump tax cut was not preferential to the millionaires and billionaires. That claim convolutes the difference in how the Trump tax cut treated individual returns and corporations. The Trump tax cuts continued to be progressive — the rich paying at higher rates.

I hope Biden stays in and is the front runner!
