Harris ain’t helping Biden, the Democrats or herself YEAH!

Harris ain’t helping Biden, the Democrats or herself YEAH!

In this commentary, I am merely making an observation.  I am not proposing that President Biden or Vice President Harris change things.  It is better the world sees their incompetence and mistakes than have them hidden.  I consider their waning popularity as good news – something I hope will continue and be reflected in the 2022 and 2024 elections.

It appears that among President Biden’s poor decisions was his selection of a running mate.

Presidential nominees pick running mates for many reasons, but with one purpose – to help them get elected. President Kennedy picked his archrival, Senate Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson because he came from a large state and would help bring along southern democrats.

Appeasing southern democrats has been an evergreen policy in the Democratic Party.  In fact, the 2008 Democrat ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden was the first time that a southern Democrat was not on the Party’s winning ticket since … Grover Cleveland.  (Pardon the digression, but I thought that factoid was interesting).

Biden represents the second time there was no southerner on the ticket.  Instead, he chose California Senator Kamala Harris.  Although she comes from a very large state, that was not the reason for her selection.  California was already in the bag for the Democratic Party.

She was selected because of her gender and her ancestry – a woman and a minority.  She is a special interest group twofer.  The Democrats were eager to make history by putting a woman in the White House – at least in the Annex.  Biden did not care much who the woman was.  Gender was the determinant factor – and minority status a secondary benefit.

Biden did not select Harris because of a longstanding friendship.  During the 2020 presidential campaign, the Biden folks bristled over Harris’ brutal attacks on Biden.  In fact, the only memorable moment in her lackluster losing campaign was when she essentially called Biden a racist with her “I am that little girl” closer.

As Vice President, Harris has been a non-entity.  Her inconspicuity has the media engaging in a form of the children’s game book, “Where’s Waldo.”  She is rarely in her own public setting – but occasionally used as a prop to stand silently beside Biden when he feels the need for optics enhancement and symbolic support.

One of her first major assignments was to oversee the migration chaos at the southern border. Even as the crisis enlarged, Harris was not seen doing her assigned job.  She refused to go to the border until the public curiosity over her absence produced sufficient pressure – and then she went to the border at one of the least critical locations.

It was a non-event in terms of facing the real situation.  She was not seen with large groups of migrants.  She did not engage in serious dialogue with border patrol officials.  It was a photo op – and for all the benefit the visit might have produced, she could have dropped in and smiled for the cameras on the sunny beach of Martha’s Vineyard.

Harris has yet to report to the nation on her findings or proposals.  Contrast that to Vice President Pence.  When assigned to take on the Covid-19 Pandemic, he appeared regularly to update the public and respond to reporters’ questions.

Some view her absence from the public forum as her own decision. Others believe that Biden wants her in the background – the far, far background.  The Hill reported that one “Harris ally” conceded that “No one is coming out and saying she’s doing an amazing job, because the first question would be ‘On what?’”

Since vice presidents serve at the pleasure of the President, it would seem more likely that it is team Biden that prefers to relegate Harris to her current limited and mostly invisible role.  But why?

Perhaps Biden does not want to be overshadowed by his more vigorous and outspoken teammate.  Or … maybe it is his way of getting back at her for those nasty remarks when they were rival combatants during the campaign. She has served her usefulness in helping Biden get elected – so he may Biden no longer feels a need for her.

But there is a more likely reason.  Harris is not a very likable public figure.  That was established during her 2020 presidential bid.  She never gained any traction with Democrat voters.  “Likeability” was even the subject of media reports at the time – or more accurately, “unlikability” reports.

She has among the lowest popularity ratings of past vice presidents – and especially in the first months of office.  It does not appear to be anything she has done – since she has not done much of anything.  Although what she has not done in conjunction with the border crisis has not helped her popularity.

In terms of favorable polling, Harris is under water.  In the latest Economist/YouGov poll, Harris’ unfavorable rating reached 48 percent.  Other polls showed her “favorability rating” in the mid-30 percentile.

Part of the problem is likely the result of Biden’s own slide in favorability.  RealClearPolitics combined three major polls that show Biden’s 43 percent unfavorability is only 3 points better than Harris’ 46 percent.

Perhaps one of Harris’ image problems is that … well … cackle — that bursts forth even at inappropriate times.  When asked about the crisis at the southern border and her failure to go there, she cackled.  When questioned about the tragedy in Afghanistan, she cackled.  Or as the New York Post put it:

“Harris broke into a bizarre cackle when reporters asked about the early stages of the Afghan crisis. And that’s hardly her only nails-on-chalkboard moment.”

The Harris Cackle has become so much part of her public persona that it is mocked and ridiculed by comedians and political adversaries.  It is the subject of innumerable critical tweets. One television host described here as a “cackling pantsuit.”  Her over-the-top laugh is frequently compared to Batman’s nemesis, the Joker, or the Wicked Witch of the West from the “Wizard of Oz.”  If you think these assessments are too harsh, just Google “Harris laugh.”

One of the roles traditionally assigned to a Vice President is to tour the Rubber Chicken circuit on behalf of the Party’s candidates across the country.  Already Democrat campaign operatives are worrying that Harris may be more of a liability than an asset.

The Hill quoted one “Democrat strategist” saying, “As of right now, I think she has the potential of doing more harm than good for some of these candidates.”

Whether it is the cackle, a number of notable flubs, or something more difficult to define, it is clear that Harris is no asset to Biden or the Democratic Party – at least at this moment in time.  And as far as I am concerned, that is a good thing.

So, there ‘tis.

Where do these nuts come from? Seriously? Running around with Newsome trying to save his ass while American people are in danger in Afghanistan. And would the leftist troll squad that post on this site please explain why that the black governor candidate in California was confronted by protesters wearing a monkey mask? And also throwing eggs and shooting pellets at him and his staff. Doesn’t this smell racist? You people are pathetic.

The America hating left has been pathetic for MANY MANY years. I do believe it has caught up with them and their time has come. Why else would they want to pack the court and let America be invaded by their potential “voters”. We won’t even mention their election shenanigans that MANY should be behind bars for.

    Larry,
That’s a lot of words to bash someone that wasn’t supposed to appeal to you anyway. On the other hand, a tough on crime State AG should have been in your wheel house. Interesting how you discount all of her qualifications and reduce her down to a “twofer”…it’s a good thing you don’t play identity politics that republicans claim to hate.

    • RJ O'Guillory

….um…sure…a “tough AG”…who put thousands in prison for Marijuana, but admitted to smoking weed herself. Willie Brown’s desk polisher is just that…and everyone knows it.

      • Ben

        RJ,
If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime!

    • larry Horist

Ben … I do not believe Harris was picked for her “qualifications.” I think the primary reason was “minority woman.” And you may recall that she has a popularity problem in the black community because of all those young black males she prosecuted and jailed under Biden’s crime legislation. For political reasons, Harris suddenly flipped and actually raised bail for a lot of those rioters who looted and burned — including one who has been arrested again for violent crimes. Identity politics is owned by the Democrats … I only report on it, not endorse it.

  3. Joseph S. Bruder

And yet, Obama got elected through two terms without a southerner on the ticket, and Biden also got elected without a southerner. We’re only 8 months into the term, and you expect Harris to be out in front? Tell me what Pence did for the whole four years he was Vice President? Other than a yes-man for Trump’s vile policies, he headed up no programs or rarely even showed up in public. And I don’t recall Trump (or Pence) EVER making it into positive favorability.

Yes, it’s your opinion, and you’re pulling out every sexist and racial stereotype against her you can think of – she’s too loud, she “cackles” (which you stole from Clinton’s detractors), she’s not “likable”, she wears “pantsuits” instead of presumably a more womanly dress, she’s just there because she’s a minority woman (a typical affirmative action argument)… Frankly, these are your biases, and speak more about you than her.

    • Dan Tyree

Don’t call her “she “. It’s mensturating person. Didn’t AOC teach you anything? But I don’t know what to call them when they aren’t having their cycle or ages out of it. Someone guide us here

    • Dan Tyree

No mention of the pellets and monkey mask? How soon we forget And retard joe called one of his advisers that happens to be black “boy” in public last week But he’s in cognitive failure. So we must forgive him. He doesn’t know what he’s saying

  4. frank stetson

You know Larry, I was gonna push back, but face it, she’s VP, get over it, it happens. And she did call him some bad names so she should expect a little penalty box time. Good for the soul and gives her time to work on the cackle, forget about talking about her Mother in every public appearance, better learn the ropes of the national spotlight, figure out how not be become Hillary since being a prosecutor is a blessing and a curse.

And then you mentioned Pence….. Sure he was the best on the covid task force, but consider the bar. Pretty low. Lower than low. Pence looked great and then disbanded in May of 2020 saying it’s reopening time. So many failures, so little time, over 600,000 dead on their watch, one of the worst records in the world of industrialized nations. You can’t run the task force of those results and come away squeaky clean even if your not an total douche bag like the rest. And he regularly got slammed for Trump for doing the right things too. In the end, called a traitor.

But yeah, looks like Kamala in the more traditional see nothing, do nothing, VP role for now. Seems like penalty box treatment, and well deserved until she learns how to laugh :>)

Like Bruder-the dunce, you seem to thing that Harris should not be expected to do much in such a short time. But as I recall, Biden put her in charge of the three major crises facing America — the surge at the southern border — and she has be AWOL on that issue. Much of the reporting on Harris has to do with her laugh and her flubs. I feel pretty confident that if Biden completes his full four-year term, Harris will never be President.

This useless bitch should be in prison

  6. frank stetson

Should be in prison, why, for being “a useless bitch” in your mind? That’s rich. Got facts. Crickets.

    Dan,
Some eggs are thrown by a women in a monkey suit in indeed racist, IMO, as well as demeaning to all chickens. Once we know who she is we will know more, and all are innocent until proven elsewise, but no matter who she represents, it is racist. But even if presumed to be racist, if it is a traditional crime (egg tossing) motivated by bias (monkey suit), then it’s a hate crime and then we have a whole nuther thing altogether.

Once when working for a major fortune 100, they printed some corporate stuff that showed the globe with folk in ethnic clothes highlighting different countries. You know, Dutch dress and wooden shoes, Beret and a glass of wine, etc. Wanna guess what they showed for Africa? Oh yeah, a monkey with a banana. Is that racist? One animal amongst 10 other people said yessirree. It was recalled ASAP. I am sure it was not done by or to be racist, but was seen as racist, and reactions were swift.

Until we know exactly what and why here, we don’t know much except what we saw. And what we saw, like the corporate piece, could easily be construed as racist, whether it actually was intended or not. That’s the point of political correctness; it’s not always what the sender thinks, what the sender means, it is almost always about what the receivers perceive. Yes, we have freedom of speech to say and display some pretty stupid things, but when we do, and when someone notes it, we should be cognizant of the potential message we are sending.

Of course, in knowing all that, we still can decide to continue or not. Racism is wrong, but only certain aspects illegal. IF this is a hate crime, throw the book at her, she should have known better.

    • Dan Tyree

Innocent until proven otherwise? That didn’t work for justice Kavanaha. Or president Trump when they started planning impeachment as soon as he announced his candidacy

  7. frank stetson

Still waiting for Dan to show us the proof of Kamala’s “heels up” lie that he likes to spew on a regular basis.

Oh, I think Kavanaugh got what he deserved. I grew up in Kavanaugh country and I can attest to those rich brats doing crap like that. My school was next to his, same neighborhood, same kids. Used to laugh, had to walk through parking lot of porsches, caddies, and such, kids cars all. The beat up POS cars for the teachers had to park in back… Does his bad behavior as a teen pulling down bathing suits preclude a Supreme seat? Probably not. Did he assault her, probably. Did he rape her, he would have been too scared to do the deed under protest, probably too. Does he deserve some public recognition that he was a total rich kid brat shit head, especially to women. Absolutely. System works in my book.

Oh come on; everyone thinks about impeachment before the election is even counted nowadays. You guys like to think in front of the outcome, and, let’s face it, you’re the tops when it comes to continuing to tilt windmills years after the supposed crime occurs. You are still counting the 2020 election results and probably will be in 2022 as well.

On 1.21.21, HR 57 calling for Biden’s impeachment was launched in the House by Greene of Georgia claiming bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors vis-a-vis Hunter when Biden was Vice President going back to 2011, a decade earlier.

I would say you guys lead when it comes to early impeachment planning and implementation. So get over it or start backing up your spew with actual facts. Tell us about “heels up,” come on, we dare you to toe the line, show us your stuff, support what you say.

Or are you impotent to do so?

    • Dan Tyree

Yes, heels up screwed everything swinging as per many people who knew her through her career. That’s how she build her political career. But I don’t care. You said she’s VP like it or not. I’ll promise you that joe and ho will never lead me. I can detect that you’re jealous of successful people. I didn’t have much either growing up and had to learn to make do with what we had. Wild game, garden produce and beans and cornbread were our main mills. Along with dad butchering hogs. But I’m entitled to only what I can provide. But I didn’t turn socialist and start believing that the world owed me a living. I paid for my college a over the years taught myself to play guitar and fiddle. I don’t need the government to wipe my ass

    • larry Horist

Frank … Shame on you. You first reject innocent until proven guilty. But I understand. That bit of American folklore is more ignored than believed. But then to lay your opinion that Kavanaugh got what he deserved — and I assume you do not mean the seat on the high court — on your own apparent class hatred. Stereotyping as you did is the sign of ignorance. I grew up rather poor, but I have never characterized groups of people for any reason. I just judge people on their individual actions. You rail against racism — and other isms — but then you commit the same sin of prejudice against groups — most of whom you do not know. If some snob treated you badly — or insulted you –say so, but to not brand all the others you put in that economic of social class.

As fast as impeachment, you must recall that it was the Democrats and the left who started the impeachment demands against Trump even before he was inaugurated. On Inauguration Day, the Washing Post had a headline that it was the first day of Trump’s impeachment. It resulted, in my judgement, in two unnecessary and highly politicized impeachment’s. It was the Democrats who lowered the bar on judicial appointments and impeachments. I do believe the impeachment talk today is a bit excessive, but it follows the pattern set by Democrats. The first bill of impeachment against Trump was entered by Democrat Congressmen Al Green and Brad Sherman in early 2017 — just weeks after the inauguration.

    • Dan Tyree

Frank you can’t prove otherwise. Too many people that know her says she’s a cockster. You seem to like her a lot. You should try to get on her staff. She might let you lick her bellybutton from the inside

  8. JoeyP

LEAVE her ALONE! . . . let her SINK the Democratic party. Nothing like letting INCOMPETENCE do it’s JOB – it’s like the GIFT that “KEEPS on giving”! One Enlightened Patriot. Team Trump And His Allies 2020 – MAGA (WE’RE NOT going away!).

  9. frank stetson

Oh Dan, “having lost sight of his objective, he decides to redouble his efforts.”

You say Kamala Harris made her bones by being a “heels up” tramp sleeping her way to the top. You can’t prove it and your defense of this fact is that IF I can’t disprove it, it must be true. That’s some weak tea you are drinking son. To support this ridiculous allegation’s incredibly weak support of “Frank you can’t prove otherwise,” you pile on the famous “Too many people that know her says she’s a cockster” false logic defense.
This defense was used in Ghostbusters by Murray who says “he’s a dick, at least that’s what I heard.” Not content, you go for the juglar saying “You seem to like her…” Yeah, that really frosted my brownie, you really struck a nerve with that lie.

And then you have the gall to want to measure how big your money is…..claiming I am jealous of successful people proving your huge difficulties with reading comprehension. I guess you got this weird delusion because I worked for Fortune 100 companies. Actually not sure where it came from, seems like a bit a jealousy over someone employed by the Fortune 100. Guess what, my clients were Fortune 100, I designed Fortune 100 products, and on 9/11, just happened not to be in lower Manhattan, my stomping grounds at the time, by pure luck. Let your jealousy abound, misplaced as it seems to be. I also spent a long time producing stuff for small business; does that make me poor? You are a weird fellow with some weird ideas constructed in a strange fashion to produce some ridiculous results.

Bottom line: still no proof to your Kamala Harris “heels up” allegation. No walk back, apology, just keep piling the lies and false logic up where everyone can see what weak tea you serve. Toe the line. Either put em up or shut up. Based on your track record, I suggest the later. (that would be “shut up” for the reading comprehension challenged.)

HAGWE, perhaps some actual research into your allegations would be good. Or you can start walking em back. However, don’t post innuendo, allegations, accusations, etc. without facts and expect not to be called on it.

    • Dan Tyree

Frank you can’t prove that she didn’t. So you will never know. I bet her cooter is so big that she wears suspenders on it to keep from shiting in it

      • Joseph S. Bruder

There he goes with the shit references again… Can’t go through a single article without talking about it… What are you trying to tell us about yourself, Dan?

These articles are generally written for people like you – right-wing Republicans who are easily outraged and fired up against Democrats… and yet, you seem more like a troll than anyone else who responds here – rude and crude replies, outrageous lies, frequent misspellings, i.e. typical anti-social behavior. You seem to be an equal opportunity offender. Maybe therapy will help… or at least get to the bottom of your shit fantasies…

        • Dan Tyree

Maybe I’m taking a Maxine Waters approach. Or the antifa asshole position. You people aren’t civil with us but you whining little pussyies can’t take it.

  10. Richard

I think Biden’s team was wise to pick her as VP. She is basically his life insurance. If you impeach him, or worse, you will inherit a leader that is so evil you might long to have him back.

  1. Remember the title: “More woman victimization from the left.” The author, without a shred of evidence, presumes that there are…
