Will There Be a Grinch Stealing America’s 250th Birthday?
In a previous commentary on the importance of America’s 250th Birthday, I expressed a fear that the left‑wing establishment – radical Democrats, news platforms, the entertainment industry, government unions and academia – might unite in an anti‑celebratory force.
Actually, I more than worry. I am convinced that they will be based on two well‑established characteristics of the far left. They often stand – and protest – against traditional American values, policies and symbols. They have nothing positive to say out America’s history and the Founders. And … they have an obsessive hatred for President Trump, who will be planning and presiding over the festivities.
We have already seen a hint of this. When Trump ordered a parade in celebration of the United States Army’s 250th anniversary, those on the left derided it and used the coincidence of Trump’s birthday to spin it into a personal egotistical event. They even organized their absurd “No Kings” protests as a counter event – mischaracterizing the Army’s milestone as some sort of monarchical event. Left‑wing media gave the protest far more positive coverage than the celebration. It was shameful.
Of course, the left has long been associated with protesting against American policies and interests. They abhor the symbols of American unity. They burn the flag. They kneel for the National Anthem. They refuse to say the Pledge of Allegiance. They demonize the Founders – and remove their names and images from public spaces.
Rather than manifest civic pride, we have seen the Pledge abandoned in school and at civic events. The National Anthem is no longer an integral part of sports events. Civics education has all but vanished from our schools — and American history leans to the negative.
The 250th anniversary of the Republic is a momentous milestone. Every institution – schools, entertainment, businesses, churches, civic organizations, community groups– should be preparing to honor it. Flags should be seen flying everywhere across the country every day of the year.
We do not have to agree on issues, political philosophy or party membership to unite in common cause under the overarching banner of patriotism and national unity. When folks reject even the symbols of American patriotism, we are no longer a common national culture. The American Dream and American Exceptionalism are no longer shared beliefs. We have descended into tribalism.
And tribalism is the real danger.
Tribalism fractures a nation into competing camps that no longer see each other as fellow citizens but as enemies. It replaces shared identity with factional identity. It elevates grievances over gratitude. It encourages people to define themselves not by what they love, but by what they oppose. The far left has embraced this mindset with alarming enthusiasm. Their political energy is fueled not by a desire to improve America, but by a desire to condemn it.
This is why the Founders have become such convenient targets. If you can delegitimize the Founders, you can delegitimize the nation they created. If you can portray them as irredeemably flawed, you can portray the entire American project as irredeemably flawed. And if the American project is flawed, then patriotism becomes suspect — even immoral. That is the logic of the far left’s cultural revolution.
The Founders were not perfect, but they were extraordinary. They built a system that has endured for nearly two and a half centuries. They articulated principles that have inspired billions around the world. Yet today, their statues are torn down, their names removed from schools, their achievements dismissed as products of privilege. This is not honest historical critique. It is ideological vandalism.
And it is not accidental. It is part of a broader pattern in which the far left increasingly aligns itself with America’s critics abroad. When adversarial nations attack American interests, the far left often echoes their talking points. When foreign regimes denounce American policies, left‑wing activists amplify the message. When our enemies seek to undermine confidence in American institutions, they find willing partners among those who already believe the system is corrupt.
This is not principled dissent. It is reflexive opposition. It is the politics of perpetual grievance.
A nation’s major anniversaries are moments of reflection and unity — or at least they should be. They are opportunities to reflect on shared history, shared values, shared achievements. They are reminders that despite our differences, we are part of a common story. But tribalism rejects common stories. It rejects shared identity. It rejects national pride.
So what happens when a nation tries to celebrate its 250th birthday while a significant portion of its cultural elite insists that the nation is fundamentally unjust? What happens when the people who control the media, the universities, the entertainment industry and much of the bureaucracy view patriotism with suspicion? What happens when the loudest voices on the left insist that America’s past is shameful, its present is corrupt and its future is bleak?
You get the Grinches.
Not a single Grinch, but a movement of Grinches — determined to steal the joy, the pride, the unity and the gratitude that should accompany such a milestone. They will not merely decline to participate. They will actively discourage participation. They will frame celebration as complicity. They will portray patriotism as extremism. They will insist that the only proper way to mark America’s 250th birthday is with apology.
And that is why the rest of us must not be silent. We must not surrender our national story to those who despise it. We must not allow tribalism to replace patriotism. We must not allow cynicism to replace gratitude. America’s 250th birthday belongs to all of us — not just to those who love the country, but especially to those who need to be reminded why it is worth loving.
Founder Roger Sherman said “Sad will be the day when the people forget their traditions and their history.” Will all of America unite to celebrate the momentous 250th anniversary of the greatest and most successful republic in world history? Or will will ignore our traditions and history in an exercise of national self-flagellation.
So, there ‘tis.

Comrade Democrats won’t care about the 250th birthday or even what happens. They don’t even like America.
Once again Larry is picking a fight while simultaneously blaming the other guys. It’s impressive after all those years, all those failures, that Larry seems to once again fly his Nixonian freak flag of the establishment. We may be “the elites,” but he remains “the establishment” desiring, with Trump, to bring back his fantasy of the 50’s that we rebelled against in 60’s, ended in the 70’s and really never existed except in his mind and myths. You can’t go back to what you never had.
Larry falsely claims: “They often stand – and protest – against traditional American values, policies and symbols.” Can you say Tea Party? Can you say 1.6.2021. It was wild. Can you say DOGE where now we bring immigrants into our government to destroy traditional American values, policies, institutions, and symbols. He continues: “They have nothing positive to say out America’s history and the Founders. And … they have an obsessive hatred for President Trump, who will be planning and presiding over the festivities.” Wow, here it comes again, same old shit for a new era. One out of three ain’t good, but yes, we do not approve, or like your Felon Rapist Cheating King who demeans women. Funny, you call us establishment, when those are the traits you had during Nixon, and now showing them again. And we know who they are that hate half the country for their beliefs, and the patriotic duty to petition the government for a redress of grievances, just like it says in the first amendment of our Bill of Rights.
It is not history repeating itself, its history regurgitating a foul substance from deep in its belly where, apparently, it’s been festering since Nixon. There are false claims we are against values, policies, and symbols which, again, he claims are America’s and his, as if he owns them. Where are America’s values, policies, and symbols as he puts masked, secret, military on our streets in LA, DC, Chicago, and now Minneapolis. These brilliant “patriots” are attacking the winter people in the dead of winter. Didn’t work for Hitler in Russia and won’t work for Trump in Minnesota. Sorry, it’s the patriots against the King’s men in these overwhelmingly blue states which led by those on Trump’s enemy list. Very Presidential in the spirit of Washington, Lincoln, Reagan, Clinton, and Obama. It’s the King’s men who do not exhibit the values and symbols of America. Little scarred men in masks and camo with their gas, pepper spray, rubber bone-breaking bullets bigger than golf balls and other weapons of crowd destruction. You say we have nothing positive to say on our history and Founding, that’s a big fat lie based on a sample of one: me, right here, often, and often in response to Larry’s ridiculous rants. I quote the Founders and Larry’s failure to abide by them often. I voice my support of Founding principles often. And Larry must know that.
It is the Maga King who shames the founders by having the King’s men attack citizens, toss due process out the window, and profile brown people for racist extermination, oops, sorry, deportation, with far more dying than is acceptable. Extermination, deportation, gone is gone and Cecot is too close to the chamber for me. Larry says his “American” values take us to Minnesota where the illegal immigrants do not live in numbers anywhere close to some red states. It’s a vanity project to get revenge on Walz. Trump claims safe-DC unsafe and goes to regain his honor lost on 1/6/2021 when he TACO’s his march on the Capitol. He helicopter assaults Chicago, home a major detractor, and fatty like himself, and then calls the guy fatty. He tackles and face plants self-announced Senators for asking a question. Federal candidates tossed to the ground for witnessing ICE-capades. And these patriots cannot even indict a sub sandwich when, literally, tossed in their faces.
We have invaded VZ where the Russians supporting the 5,000 missiles mysteriously stood down and were unharmed as the missiles became stillborn. Vlad said nothing. He’s pirating VZ oil as Vlad’s submarine shadows stood down and Vlad said nothing. He has ended financial support of Ukraine, Vlad smiles. He has destroyed any US respect or trust by NATO Allies, Vlad smiles. He has bombed Yemen, Nigeria, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, and Somalia. And boats full of someone and something, we will never know, on the high seas. He has threatened Columbia, Cuba, Canada, Denmark, and Greenland. The policy Larry loves, Trump’s policy, in writing by Trump, asserts that prior administrations defined U.S. national interests too broadly which led to overcommitment and overextension of the U.S. global footprint. The policy states that “the affairs of other countries are our concern only if their activities directly threaten our interests.” He defies his own stated policy of a United States focused on issues close to home, while unprecedently expanding Presidential powers to begin wars in many countries. So much for policies and patriotism. What patriot murders shipwrecked sailors, sends innocents to Cecot that we now fund as well — what would the founder’s think of that? Breaking down innocent citizens doors to haul them away in their boxes and crocs only to say: oop’s, wrong address, wrong guy, gotta go now. Or shooting women in the face, emptying clips into unarmed nurses, for effect.
No, Larry, this is not a 60’s redux, this is worse, and celebrating America right now is a very bad idea. And you know it, but want yet another thing to shove in our faces and attempt to make us grovel. You crave the fight, you crave the showdown, you have the power and you want to use it against your own citizens. I say this does not end well.
No Kings Day were the greatest displays of patriotism since Woodstock, which I am sure you missed. No KIngs day is in the spirit of the Tea Parry, both original and recent examples. Minnesota is our Valley Forge, keep coming for more Icey times.
Putin laughs at your antics. That’s what is being celebrated. Trump’s destruction of American under the fake banner of making it great again by making us grovel to a King again. You are attacking the blue, plain and simple. Period. You are using the brown people in a similar fashion as the Jews were used in Germany. That is not patriotism, that’s payback for perceived paranoid fantasies that we made you worse off and we need to pay. Payback is a bitch Larry. Tin soldiers and mid-terms coming, Larry, good luck. As to the 250th; not to worry, we will be there, we will celebrate America, not you, not Trump, and certainly not your old-Nixonian establishment fake values, policies, and practices.
Free the Epstein files, live up to your word and promise to live by the rule of law.
End the coverups of Good, Pretti, and hire a bipartisan special prosecutor to complete the standard investigation of death-by-secret-police. Release the forensics.
Release the second Smith report held captive, incognito, by Trump’s judge. Let Smith testify before Congress on that.
Have Trump pay back the $1.4B he’s made since returning to his golden throne.
Have a little transparency as to the VZ, cuba, and Greenland plans. Quit being opaque.
Support Ukraine. Really. Support. Not words.
Then we can talk about celebration.
And yes, this is a rant. Factual, truthful, but a rant for sure.
Frank Danger, you are so full of crap it is not worth arguing with you, you are not worth it.
We will happily celebrate the 250th birthday of America, the greatest country in the history of mankind, founded by the most noble heroes of America, resulting in the most beautiful society ever developed under a perfectly imperfect set of laws and blessed with the remarkable ability to adjust those laws to guarantee fairness to everyone and stand the test of time.
America was blessed by our creator with inalienable Rights.
If you believe government grants these Rights, then you do not belong in America.
