Lie Fest Continues, Generals put the lies to Biden … but the news media still lies
There is no way to get around it. It is no longer a matter of speculation. Unless the Secretary of Defense and two senior generals committed perjury, Biden lied to the American public about virtually everything associated with the surrender to the Taliban in Afghanistan.
In an interview with CNN’s George Stephen Stephanopoulos, President Biden said that none of his military leaders advised him to keep troops in Afghanistan despite news reports of the contrary. Secretary Lloyd J. Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff, General Mark Milley and Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, Commander of U.S. Central Command, all testified under oath that they had advised President Biden to leave troops in Afghanistan for an indefinite period.
President Biden told the American public that the Afghan government and military had sufficient resources and ability to prevent a Taliban take over. According to the testimony of the military leaders, the American military and the White House were told that the Taliban would take over the country if and when American – and allied – troops were removed. That was a certainty. It was only a question of timing. The generals said it happened sooner than expected. The Taliban takeover was expected around November. This means that Biden knowingly handed Afghanistan – billions of dollars of sophisticated military equipment and critical intelligence network – to those the generals called “the enemy of the United States.”
Biden has said that all his military advisors agreed on the date of withdrawal. The military leaders testified that they agreed on the date only AFTER Biden insisted on pulling out all western military support against their advice. As they pointed out, they are bound by the Constitution to obey the President as Commander-in-Chief.
Biden said that withdrawing American and allied troops in Afghanistan would not diminish America’s intelligence capabilities in the region. Not so, sayeth the generals. When asked if our intelligence operations were diminished, the generals said “absolutely.” When asked if the withdrawal has enhanced the ability of the various terrorist groups to recruit new members, the generals again answered in the affirmative.
Biden called his withdrawal a “huge success.” General Milley called it and the war a “strategic failure.” The military leaders admitted that it did not go well.
Biden promised to get every American out – and every special visa Afghan out – before the withdrawal was complete. We already know that Biden broke that promise. The generals indicated that they removed as many as possible. In other words, based on Biden’s order and deadline, it was impossible to get everyone out – and Biden knowingly lied about it.
Other lies
Democrats and their media cronies have constantly pushed the narrative that President Trump was unstable. Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, in the book “Peril,” alleged that Milley thought Trump was mentally unstable. They reported that when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called to inquire about the nuclear arsenal, she called Trump “crazy.” And Milley responded, “I agree with everything you said.” That is not how Milley recalled the conversation. He testified under oath that he told Pelosi that he could not make any judgment on the President’s mental condition – essentially shooting down both claims in the book.
The left-wing echo chamber had been abuzz with fearmongering speculation about Trump setting off a nuclear war with China. Milley put the lie to that, too. He said – in no uncertain terms – that Trump had no intention of using nuclear weapons. That is also what he told the Chinese, who were expressing some concern based on the bogus American news reports. Milley told the committee that he had no ability to judge Trump’s mental condition – putting the lie to all those reports that said he was deeply concerned about Trump’s mental stability. So, all those reports about Trump being crazy and potentially setting off a nuclear war were false … lies … political propaganda.
Summary
What is revelatory is how the media cherry-picked bits of the testimony to give the public a very wrong impression of the testimony. In some cases, the various hosts and panelists outright lied about the portions of the testimony that they did not show verbatim.
But for anyone who watched the entire hearing – as I did – there were two takeaways. Biden was covering his presidential ass with a series of lies. He lied to rationalize his unfortunate order to surrender Afghanistan to the Taliban and he lied to minimize the disaster he caused.
What we witnessed was a rare example of the military speaking the truth in the face of the Commander-in-Chief’s lies. And it was clear from all the testimony that the decision to get out of Afghanistan on a date specific was the decision of one man – President Biden.
While Democrats and the media have been running with a nutty false narrative of a President running amok with his finger on the mythical atomic launch button, we actually have an example of what happens when a President uses his constitutional power to do something really stupid – really dangerous. In this case, ordering a bad action against the advice of all the experts – the military, the intelligence community, and America’s allies.
Leaving this disaster to play out in the future, Biden is now moving on to imposing his personal economic disaster on the nation and a growing immigration crisis that he has caused. In the first case, He should be stopped from what he wants to do … and in the second case, be pressured to do what he has refused to do.
So, there ‘tis.
After 20 years of failure, we left. You have issues with the communications veracity across the Biden administration, most of which I can push back on quite easily, not all but most, but we are still left with the fact we left, and it will always be messy to leave.
After 20 years of failure, you have issues with the story, but you seem to have precious little on what should have been done, by who, and when. Did you want to ultimately leave Afghanistan? What did you want to have happen that would be different than years 1 through 20?
You just had 4 years of your guy, beyond a feckless package of promises, what did he do? What should he have done? Did he lie? Remember the planned Camp David meetings with the Taliban?
Just saying “we got out, he lied, it’s all bad” seems a bit light given 20 years of preparation by both parties. Where’s your plan, Larry.
Heya i’m for the primary time here. I came across
this board and I in finding It really helpful & it helped me out much.
I hope to present one thing again and aid others like
you helped me.
Whoa, Larry! Just a couple of weeks ago (it’s fallen off of PBP pages, and there’s no search engine here, but is still findable on the internet), you said:
CHIEF OF STAFF MILLEY SHOULD BE FIRED, THERE I SAID IT!
“there is sufficient evidence that Milley has proven to be a person of poor judgment”
“the authors not only describe Milley as a man highly concerned that Trump would launch some fatalistic military action as the product of a depraved mind”
“An argument could be made that Milley is a show boater more interested in his public image than the restraints of his military duties.”
“poor judgment should be the career closer for Milley”
“But it is fair to say that his judgment has not been very good on a lot of serious matters – and he has too often crossed the line into the political affairs-of-state.”
Now that Milley has supposedly criticized the Biden administration, he’s been “rehabilitated” from being a traitor to the country for going aorund Trumps back, to telling the Chinese that Trump had no intention of starting a war to keep the Presidency. And he’s now the darling of the Right for giving them something about Afghanistan that they can counter Trump’s surrender agreeement with.
It’s genuinely very difficult in this busy life to listen news on Television, so I simply use the
