What conservatives say versus what liberals hear

What conservatives say versus what liberals hear

Having a polite conversation is becoming increasingly harder as the country becomes more polarized around the Covid-19 vaccine. Some want compulsory shots; others believe jabs should be optional. All too often, it devolves into liberal-leaning citizens thinking conservative-minded people are uneducated and rigid. Here’s a breakdown of common statements that conservatives make, how liberals interpret them, and what is truly meant.

What a conservative says: I’m not sure how I feel about getting the Covid vaccination.

What a liberal hears: I hate other people and want them to die.

What a conservative actually means: I need more time to think about injecting a relatively new vaccine into my body. I’m concerned about the possible side effects and its inability to fully protect me or keep me from spreading the coronavirus to other people. Besides, I’m suspicious of why the government is pushing this particular vaccine so hard. I secretly think it’s a futuristic serum that will turn me into an alien with green skin and one eyeball in the middle of my forehead.

Not really. But sometimes it seems like you might as well say that, but they’re going to think it anyway.

What a conservative says: I don’t think kids should have to wear face masks in school.

What a liberal hears: I hate kids and want them to die.

What a conservative actually means: I’m concerned about the long-term detrimental effects of mask wearing on children who don’t socialize normally for two years. Numerous studies and researchers have proven that kids aren’t significant spreaders of the novel coronavirus that causes Covid-19. Plus, kids can shed the virus from their systems in as little as 48 hours.

What a conservative says: Covid-19 has a really high survival rate.

What a liberal hears: I’m too ignorant to understand statistics and how they apply to global populations, my own community, and my daily life.

What a conservative actually means: Covid-19 has a really high survival rate. Of the approximately 35.2 million confirmed cases in the US, about 614,300 people have died. This is a 1.7% mortality rate, as calculated by Johns Hopkins University. This equates to a 98.3% survival rate. As previously stated, that’s a really high survival rate.

Additionally, demographics point to specific demographics that are more heavily impacted by Covid than others. Data from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) shows that 79% of Covid deaths are attributed to people aged 65 and older. People between ages 45 and 64 account for 18% of deaths, and those under 45 years old account for 2.8%.

What a conservative says: It’s pretty hypocritical of Barak Obama, all the world leaders at the G7 Summit, and other high profile individuals to encourage universal mask wearing and social distancing while simultaneously engaging in maskless socializing.

What a liberal hears: It’s kind of messed up that our leaders say one thing and do another. Do we operate under two different sets of rules? If it’s good enough for us, it should be good enough for them.

What a conservative actually means: I’m not trying to Obama-bash or hate on Boris Johnson, even though his hair is worse than Trumps, but it sure is nice to find some common ground with a liberal. After all, we’re all Americans who are in this together.

Democrats are garbage. They are responsible for the state of this country, the divisiveness, & the violence, not Conservatives.

Lefties are unhinged unthinking ideologues. There is no reasoning with them

Ann, you are spot on with your “what liberals hear”.

    1) vaccines: George Washington mandated small pox vaccines for his army. Talk about experimental vaccines. Also, this is trumps triumph! Through operation warp speed, we have this miraculous gift! I’m not sure why trumpists wouldn’t want to support trump’s greatest achievement.

    2) masks really aren’t that big of a deal. They work, the flu was virtually non existent this past year, thanks in large part to masks. There are entire societies in this world that have worn medical masks for years. Not to mention medical care professionals. This is just a talking point for the right. There’s school dress codes, no one questions those. As a society we are supposed to look out for the common good. Wearing a mask is a small sacrifice to keep your fellow man safe.

    3) Covid Survival rates are high. But as you state in your article, we have had 650,000 excess death rate since the advent of COVID. Survival rates of car accidents are extremely high also, but we buckle up every time we get in the car. In fact, it is a law that we do so. We purchase cars with the latest safety futures, air bags, impact safety, collision avoidance systems. It simply doesn’t make sense not to protect yourself as much as possible, especially when it is minimally inconvenient.
    4) red southern states are seeing an absolute explosion of delta cases. So much so that they are begging for help. They need medical experts and equipment. This really should illustrate the need for simple precautions.
    Stay safe and healthy.

Who said mass stopped the flow tell me where I can find a pool 2020 is a miracle you nobody got the flu nobody died of a heart attack nobody died treatments call Rex or any kind of accident nobody had heart attacks nobody had cancer and you trying to tell me 2020 was in the miracle year

      • Ben

        Victor.
You post is barely comprehensible. But I think I figured most of it out.
Last year was the slowest flu season (CDC) in modern history.
As far as the rest, I didn’t say that, you are making those things up. Typical radicalized right straw man argument.

Red southern states are seeing an explosion in delta cases but that wouldnt have ANYTHING to do with an open southern border now would it??

      • Ben

        Anon,
You may be right, Florida has had an explosion of Delta and they share the boarder with … Hold on, let me see… umm…. Hold up, lemme check another source…. Nope, can’t seem to find any info on that…

Not to mention that COVID infection rate in the US is 5 times more per million people than Mexico. They are much more likely to get COVID coming here than staying in Mexico, They have a slightly less chance of dying (of COVID) in Texas (but higher likelihood of getting shot), but in Florida they would be more likely to die too.

          • Mac ew

That doesn’t happen to me. It happens to other people.

What libbies don’t hear are facts.

    • Ben

      Gary,
The headline read,” they are stacking up COVID patients in the hall ways in Florida hospitals”
Anything to own the Libs though, right?

      • victor

ben Do you believe everything the papers say if you do I got partial ownership in the Rivera river. In New Jersey you want to buy my have

        • Ben

          Victor,

          1) “virtually non existent”. According to the CDC web site ( the following is a direct copy paste of their number and facts.

          Summary
What is already known about this topic?

Influenza activity is currently low in the United States and globally.

What is added by this report?

Following widespread adoption of community mitigation measures to reduce transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, the percentage of U.S. respiratory specimens submitted for influenza testing that tested positive decreased from >20% to 2.3% and has remained at historically low interseasonal levels (0.2% versus 1–2%). Data from Southern Hemisphere countries also indicate little influenza activity.“

So, I’m pretty excited to purchase that River you were talking about.

Victor the commiecrats doesn’t know the facts. Just commie propaganda. We are having this problem with COVID because that they colluded with China and downplayed the problem so that they could hang it on Trump and have another tool to steal the election. And the COVID deaths are greatly exaggerated. Yes, the virus is here, but lies are being told by the left. The governor in Florida isn’t trying to stop people from wearing masks. Just leave it up to people. And I totally agree. If people will pay attention they will see that the commiecrats want to deny us as much of our personal freedoms as possible. Now they want us to be banned from flying unless we are vaccinated. I’m proudly unvaccinated and I flew to Florida in June. And I’m ok. I didn’t have a problem wearing a mask on the plane but I don’t trust their vaccinations. Hide and watch. Over half of the people of all ages will have problems and probably die after being vaccinated. And from all ages

          • Joseph S. Bruder

“Over half of the people of all ages will have problems and probably die after being vaccinated.”

Where’s your evidence for that statement? Direct from a q-anon website? Or did you just make it up, Rush Limbaugh style? You flew to Florida in June, masked, during the lowest infection period since last February, and you didn’t get COVID. Show me your math to get from a sample of one to “over half will die”. And tell us your credentials in Probability and Statistics, while you’re at it.

I think I get it, let’s paraphrase. Libturds have their heads up their asses, are garbage, responsible for the divisiveness, the violence, as unhinged unthinking ideologues., no reasoning with them, don’t hear are facts.

    “Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
Trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
Trying to forget my feelings of love.
Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it.
    I wish I’ve never met you, girl;
You’ll Never Come Again” Kaiserman / Gaste

Although I do think you are getting warm….. :>)
