LA Voters Seek to Restore Order
Voters in Los Angeles, California will soon have a chance to reverse the damage inflicted by Proposition 47, a George Soros-backed initiative that significantly lessened the legal punishment for drug possession and petty theft. Though California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) and others hoped the changes would save taxpayers money, the social costs resulting from Prop. 47 have far eclipsed any potential savings.
Enacted in 2014, Prop. 47 facilitated a dramatic increase in crime – so much so that numerous department stores (such as Walgreens) have been forced to shut down or relocate. Earlier this month, a Nordstrom west of LA was attacked and looted by a group of more than 20 people. That same Nordstrom was hit by a gang of masked individuals in August of 2023. The prior incident (see photo above), which involved some 50 people, was almost certainly organized by a gang or crime ring. Sadly, the few individuals caught and arrested were as young as 13.
In late September, a criminal who had been arrested multiple times for violent offenses and who had been convicted of drug trafficking twice was able to board a public bus, murder an innocent passenger, and hold the driver at gunpoint until authorities arrived – all because his previous crimes were not prosecuted.
All told, violent crime in the LA region has increased by 35% since 2014 (this is roughly four-timers higher than the national average) and has jumped 3.5% on public transportation. Prop. 47 also led to an increase in open-air drug use because prosecutors could no longer use jail time as a threat when convincing drug addicts to seek treatment.
This November, voters will see on their ballots an initiative that will reinstate the penalties that were wiped away by Prop. 47. The new law, known as Prop. 36, promises to:
- Restore jail time as an inducement for rehab and introduce a “treatment-mandated felony” for individuals receiving multiple possession charges
- Punish repeat shoplifters with felony charges
- Lengthen prison sentences for individuals involved with organized crime
- Send drug traffickers to a state prison instead of a county jail
Though roughly 75% of voters support Prop. 36, Governor Newsom and his progressive allies have framed the initiative as a return to the “war on drugs.” Apparently, they believe the increased costs associated with rehab and incarceration will pull funding needed for local schools.
Voters are particularly upset with Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon (D), who opposes Prop. 36 and has been following Prop. 47 policies since 2020. Voters have singlehanded blamed Gascon and his “catch and release” policy for the dramatic increase in cargo theft.
Unfortunately, despite acknowledging the “direct connection between drug sales and violent crime” when she herself served as the District Attorney for San Francisco, presidential candidate Kamala Harris (D) endorsed Gascon in 2020. According to a recent poll conducted by the Institute of Government Studies at UC Berkeley, Gascon currently trails opponent Nathan Hochman (Independent) by 30 points.

Well I think if the voters are unhappy with the repeated destruction, fire Gascon’s ass. The real question is, “Did she endorse Gascon this time, in 2024?
Hey, I seem to recall a pissed off candidate on 1/6/2020 created an insurrection in Washington D.C. Now he calls the entire even where 149 police were injured, four killed, and citizens killed a “love fest”. Harris calls it what it is, an insurrection.
Oh, wow, Tom, you’re back. I though you died. Good to see you back. Spoiler alert – Trump is being exonerated for J^. Turns out it was Nancy Pelosi, her daughter and Chuck Shumer, FBI, ANTIFA, BLM and the Capitol Police that did J6 with the approval of all the rest of the dirty Democrats so they could illegally blame Trump. But it makes me wonder – were YOU at J6? If you were, and you ae a Democrat, you were let go. It doesn’t even matter at this point. Trump did NOT start or have anything to do with an insurrection. IT was all done on purpose by the evil dirty Democrats. this is coming out now all over the internet. Sorry if that disappoints you. We all can’t have it the way we want. The entire truth is going to be broadcast sometime this weekend to Monday.
Amen – Well stated!!
J6 — ah, the door opens again. Time for a recap:
As of August 2024, convictions, some with precedents, are still happening, two big ones in August alone. It was Republicans storming the Capitol, Republicans sent there by Republican Trump, the leader of the Republican Party, to disrupt Congress affirming the 2020 presidential election results legally won by Joe Biden. Investigations continue, if you were there and have not been arrested, you may still be. As of October, 2022, the approximate losses totaled $2,881,360.20.
More than 1,488 Trump supporters have been charged in nearly all 50 states and DC.
About 547 Republicans have been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or employees.
About 163 Trumplicans have been charged with using a deadly or dangerous weapon or causing serious bodily injury to an officer.
Around 140 police officers were assaulted by Republicans.
Over 10 individuals arrested for assaulting a member of the media, or destroying their equipment, on Jan. 6
Over 1,400 Republicans charged with entering or remaining in a restricted federal building or grounds. Of those, 171 defendants have been charged with entering a restricted area with a dangerous or deadly weapon.
87 defendants have been charged with destruction of government property, and approximately 66 defendants have been charged with theft of government property.
Roughly 259 defendants charged with corruptly obstructing, influencing, or impeding an official proceeding, or attempting to do so when the Supreme Court issued its opinion in Fischer v. United States, 23-5572, which narrowed the conduct that could violate the statute at issue, before remanding to the D.C. Circuit for further proceedings.
Approximately 894 individuals have pleaded guilty to a variety of federal charges, many of whom faced or will face incarceration at sentencing. Approximately 288 have pleaded guilty to felonies. Another 606 have pleaded guilty to misdemeanors. 146 of those who have pleaded guilty to felonies have pleaded to federal charges of assaulting law enforcement officers. Approximately 76 additional defendants have pleaded guilty to feloniously obstructing, impeding, or interfering with a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder. Of these 222 defendants, 180 have now been sentenced to prison terms of up to 151 months.
186 individuals have been found guilty at contested trials, including 3 who were found guilty in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Another 37 individuals have been convicted following an agreed-upon set of facts. The government has only lost a few cases.
For punishment, approximately 944 defendants have had their cases adjudicated and received sentences for their criminal activity on Jan. 6. Approximately 562 have been sentenced to periods of incarceration. Approximately 172 defendants have been sentenced to a period of home detention, including approximately 31 who also were sentenced to a period of incarceration.
But wait, there’s more: the public internet sleuths and the FBI continue the search. For example, Evan Neumann, Adam Villarreal, Paul Belosic, use stick-like weapon to strike multiple officers numerous times while in the doorway of the Lower West Terrace, commonly referred to as the Tunnel. One attempts to take the officers’ batons. That’s right, they are still looking for Republicans like there who were there that day. And they are still arresting them. Republicans all.
Many, in court, on the record, under perjury threat, said that Trump sent them, Trump’s words empowered them, and they blame Trump. It’s on the record and no perjury was charged by the court or by Team Trump.
Character matters. He said things. They did things. They said what he said matters. He watched for three hours on TV. He is our Commander in Chief protecting the nation. He watched the Capitol be stormed for over three hours. They are in jail. He may be President again. Who even cares who started it. He watched it happen for over three hours and did nothing. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
Yes, Fake Gavin Newsom really tried to destroy California, started all those fires with DEW’s, made draconian laws that hurt Conservatives and enabled immigrants, made sure his elite friends and Hollywood got kickbacks and money in his own pockets not to mention the underground tunnel funny business. Then there is all that strange contact with China. Newsom was trying to get people off the California land or out of California even if he had to kill them to open the land up for China to come in to invade the rest of America. HE got stopped – about China, at least I sure do hope so. The Democrats may just find out that what they did and do may just come back and bite them in the arse!
It is easy to find out what way a Democrat politician will vote!
