Democrat Councilwoman in NC Charged with Stealing COVID Relief Funds
Taking away people’s freedoms and rigging an election weren’t the only benefits that elected Democrats squeezed out of the manufactured COVID-19 health emergency; they also stole money out of the COVID relief funds. The case of Tiawana Brown, a councilwoman for Charlotte (North Carolina), recently made news for such a crime.
As announced via a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release on May 22, a federal grand jury in Charlotte indicted Democrat councilwoman Tiawana Brown along with her two daughters for fraud in obtaining COVID-19 pandemic relief funds between April 2020 and September 2021. The charges brought against Brown and her daughters include wire fraud conspiracy and wire fraud toward falsely obtaining COVID pandemic relief funds.
The DOJ stated that the defendants falsely obtained at least $124,165 as part of their scheme to defraud the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program and its Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). After securing the funds, Brown and her daughters used the money on personal expenses that included a $15000 birthday party for the councilwoman.
If convicted, the councilwoman and her daughters face up to 20 years in prison for each of these charges. Brown and her daughters have pleaded not guilty.
Corruption in the $5 trillion COVID-19 emergency relief funds has been reported many times and on several levels and from members of both main political parties. As reported on Fox News (February 1, 2023), documents obtained via congressional oversight revealed that at least 779 individuals or entities had pleaded guilty to, or had been convicted of, charges related to defrauding federal COVID-19 relief programs by January 2023.
In November last year, a Republican county supervisor in Orange County (California) pleaded guilty to a bribery charge worth more than half a million dollars for directing COVID relief funds to an organization where his daughter was listed as an officer. Andrew Do, a Vietnamese refugee who became a US citizen, later a prosecutor, and ultimately an elected official in Orange County, is yet to be sentenced. Earlier this month, federal prosecutors called for a sentence of 5 years in prison for Do.
House Budget Committee Republicans put out a statement after a June 2023 story by the Associated Press reported theft of at least $280 billion in the COVID relief funds. The Republicans blamed the Biden administration for the fraud in COVID relief funds. The statement said:
In the name of “COVID relief,” President Biden and Congressional Democrats jammed through the nearly $2 trillion partisan American Rescue Plan Act. Congressional Republicans requested critical safeguards such as theft protection and identity verification for business loans and unemployment funds, yet the Democrat majority wouldn’t allow it.

Almost all of the PPP money was approved and distributed in 2020; and you blame Biden? How dumb do you think your readers are? Almost all of the $800B PPP funding and distribution was on Trump’s watch. While targeting small business, most of the money went to Trump’s rich crowd. Biden extended, enriched, and enhanced the program but only added $7B in funding.
Over 95% of all PPP loans were approved and distributed under Trump’s watch.
