Trump Calls for Tougher Travel Ban Following London Attack

At least 22 people were rushed to the hospital Friday morning after a homemade bomb exploded on a subway during rush hour in London.

As reported by Fox News, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack. 

Police are still searching for the person or persons behind the attack, and have declared a “critical” terrorism threat for the country. “Critical” is the highest possible threat level and typically implies that other attacks are expected to occur. 

In the meantime, hundreds of authorities s are carrying out forensic work, viewing surveillance camera footage, and speaking to witnesses in order to discover who might be responsible. 

At least 29 people were injured by the blast and the confusion that followed. “I heard a large bang from the doors on the other side of the tube train and this fireball came towards my head and singed off all my hair – I have got burn marks at the top of my head,” says Peter Crowley, a passenger. 

The stampede created by the bomb is believed to have caused more damage than the bomb itself. “I saw crying women, there was lots of shouting and screaming, there was a bit of a crush on the stairs going down to the streets,” explains Richard Aylmer-Hall.

Emma Stevie, another passenger, says she put herself in the “fetal position” to avoid the stampede. “I saw a poor little boy with a smashed-in head and other injuries. It was horrible.” 

London Mayor Sadiq Khan condemned the attack, promising that London “will never be intimidated or defeated by terrorism.” 

President Donald Trump is using the attack as evidence that we need a tougher travel ban. “The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher, and more specific – but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!” he tweeted Friday morning. 

Trump also suggested we make an effort to restrict terrorists’ use of the Internet as a “recruitment tool” and added that the US “must be proactive and nasty” when dealing with ISIS. 

Trump’s tweets follow the Supreme Court’s decision to allow his controversial travel ban to remain in effect for the time being. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hold its final hearing on the matter on October 10th. 

Editor’s note: Perhaps Trump is learning from Rom Emmanuel’s example, “never let a good crisis go to waste.” But so far Trump is doing exceedingly well in keeping his campaign promises.
