The Democratic Party Still Does Not Get It
Throughout the left-wing politico/media sphere, there are two overarching themes being deployed in hope of preventing any Republican gains in the 2022 midterm election. They argue that Republican electoral support is due to the fact that the GOP knows how to fight for power. And that the Party is bringing down the Republic in pursuit of that power. This from the Democratic Party – a party that has a long history of imposing one-party rule wherever they can.
Democrats and their media allies are also banking on convincing a majority of the American people that Republican leaders AND voters are vile, disgusting, despicable … oh yeah … a basket of (white) deplorables who hate minorities, gays, Jews, women, foreigners and poor folks — even though a lot of Republicans are minorities, gays, Jews, women, foreigners and poor folks.
Those characterizations of the Republican Party and the tens of millions of Republican voters is grossly untrue. It is nothing less than political slander. One might even call the left’s mischaracterization as … dare we say … a BIG LIE. In fact, it is a collection of big lies.
The power of the GOP comes from the Party’s support of issues and policies that most Americans embrace. Most people not only see through the outrageous characterization of half the population. They also resent the use of them. Especially the half of the American population that are the target of the slander. It not only angers them, but politically motivates them to defeat the propaganda name-callers at the polls.
The increasingly left-leaning Democratic Party uses the character assassination as their primary tool. This is because they well understand that they cannot win on the issues.
There are any number of Democrat policies, actions and issues that drive voters away from the donkey party.
The people are getting wise to the Democrats tradition of buying votes with taxpayer money. Every time the Democrats propose giving money to some interest group, the working American is feeling it in the wallet with higher taxes and the essential tax called inflation.
More and more inner-city minorities no longer find that the same old promises that never came to fruition to be credible.
In terms of public safety, the radical left dragged the Democratic Party into the tar pit of anti-policing. Being against legal private gun ownership and defunding (disarming) police have left the most crime-ridden communities vulnerable to the kind of horrific human carnage we calculate every weekend.
The American people well understand that the Democrats’ open border policies increase the numbers of crime victims. In addition, it puts a strain on America’s financial resources at a time when Democrat spending is out of control. Republicans are for LEGAL immigration — as are most of the people.
Democrats get false praise from the media for restoring American leadership around the globe. It is another BIG LIE. If Biden is alleged to be more popular than Trump, it arguably is because the United States is more acquiescent.
Most Americans are not as eager as Democrats to enter a new meaningless nuclear deal with Iran — a nation that uses our acquiescence and money to spread terrorism against the civilized world. No amount of climate fearmongering will convince Americans that a climate accord that places most of the burden and sacrifices on the United States is fair.
The Democrats anti-fossil fuel policies are already impacting gas prices at the local stations. Those increases hit every American — the poorest the hardest.
As America’s indigenous friends in Afghanistan are mercilessly slaughtered along with their families– and when the Taliban imposes their gruesome brutal rule over that nation, Biden’s tragic decision to pull out against all military, allied and diplomatic advice will be a heavy yoke around the Democratic Party.
Those on the left — who currently represent the center of the Democratic Party — may well learn that ad hominem attacks will not trump the issues. That is the strength of the Republican Party — and those on the left just do not get it. And personally, I hope they never do.
So, there ’tis.

Larry, you should read the comment section on your blog. Even you, the staunchest of conservatives has been the target of personal attacks and name calling and the misrepresentation of facts..it almost seems like you are projecting.
As I just mentioned to Dan, the reason republicans can’t win is your platform is not popular. Republicans have only won the Presidential popular vote ONCE in the last 30 years. There is NO indication that this trend will reverse itself. If it weren’t for the 2000 census correlating with the rise of computing capabilities that enabled severe gerrymandering, you wouldn’t have the House either.
Face it, republicans didn’t win an age demographic in the last Presidential election until the age of 55. Your base is thankfully dying off. It’s only a matter of time before the right is powerless to stop the progressive movement.

To address a few of your “enlightenments” – you say the “left-wing politico/media sphere” claims that the “GOP knows how to fight for power”. First of all, NOBODY is saying that, and I would say there’s a lot more far-right media that’s pushing a political agenda – I mean, FOX and OANN were created specifically to push the right/conservative/Republican/Christian propaganda, and Newsmax was already in that space writing scare pieces intended to fleece the elderly and naive, and it was just natural that they went after conservative Christians – Trump basically handed them a “fleece-ready” audience. What the left and centrist media is actually saying is that the GOP is cheating to hold power – outright lying to voters, gerrymandering districts, manipulating laws to prevent likely Democratic voters from being able to vote.
I would be willing to characterize a large percentage of GOP politicians as you did – racists, homophobes, etc… certainly not all of them, although the longer they’re in the party, the more they toe the line of the supposed leaders. Even McConnell and McCarthy came out against Trump’s attempted coup, before they went back to lockstep support of Trump. You say there are tens of millions of R voters being characterized as racists (etc) too – some 70 million voted for Trump, and it’s probable that there were 10’s of millions of whom Trump managed to tap into the “inner racist” with fearmongering and Nazi-level propaganda.
I am old enough to remember a time, let’s say between the early 60’s and up until the Reagan years, when Americans were generous to outsiders and immigrants (in fact, back then, it was the Republicans who wanted to relax immigration, so that farmers and ranchers could get cheap labor). Church groups brought refugees into small towns and gave them support out of the goodness of their hearts. There was real concern for human rights, cooperation among governments, a push for international trade and open borders. Every Republican since (and including) Reagan played into populist fears, divided the country a little more, pushed a little more toward nationalism, up to the Ultimate Narcissist who pitted blacks against whites, whipped up hysteria against Muslims and Hispanics and basically anyone “other”, divided friends and neighbors over things like wearing a mask or getting a vaccination. Trump just took the Republican non-platform and took it further, weaponized it for his own benefit. The seeds of hatred and division were already sown by the previous generation of Republican leaders, he just pissed and shit on it to make it grow.
I’ll skip some of the rest of your assertions, down to where you think that the US is popular (again) because it is somehow “acquiescent” – No, it’s because Trump (supported and/or driven by Putin) was divisive, tore down the bridges and institutions that bound democratic countries together, encouraged white nationalism in our country and theirs, generally supported dictators, and created chaos in everything he touched. The rest of the world is seeing Biden promote cooperation, peace, trade, and human rights again. Biden has put the US back into a leadership position that Trump severely damaged. and the world (except for Putin) is glad to have us back.
It’s nice to know that “what is Joe S. Bruder going to hammer me about” is in your head while you’re writing your next screed against the Democrats. It will be interesting to see if your tune changes as Trump is prosecuted for his crimes (both business and political) and more of the truth is exposed about his fraudulent business practices, Russian interference in the 2016 elections, his Ukraine extortion, and his role in the Jan 6th attempted coup. Just because McConnell and Barr were able to temporarily bury them doesn’t mean that they didn’t happen or that there is no evidence. I know that your official position is that it’s all left-wing media lies, but at some point, the evidence is going to be clear and overwhelming. Cognitive dissonance is a bitch, man…

Biden inherited a hornets nest with the America Trump created. Our legally elected current President, Biden, is forced into living with past Republican policy, in Afghanistan, Russia, China CPPC, North Korea, our Southern Board, just a few that readily come to mind. All of which Trump mishandled and Biden must clean up the mess. Trump Republican incompetence is now our country’s reality for life and its negative consequences are being blamed on Biden and those you demonize as “the left”.
Generalization, wide brush painting a majority of your fellow Americans, shows ignorant bias. And you complaints indicate a serious lack of objective reality. I haven’t been reading your trash for a while, but I see that you haven’t gotten any smarter in my time away. So many lies! Perhaps your last name is actually Trump? No, the American people do not want to get into a nuclear war with Iran-nor does the rest of the civilized world. That is why the agreement with Iran was signed, but you know who thought he knew better than the rest of the world (and the previous administration) and pulled us out of it-making war with Iran far more likely And yes-Afghanistan is a mess, but you seem to have forgotten who made the agreement with the taliban. We were supposed to leave by the beginning of May-or has senility caused you to forget that fact. I personally would have pulled out of that agreement, but I do understand why Biden has stuck with that treaty-he didn’t want the world to continue to think that the US doesn’t keep their word one administration to the next. You say that Republicans are for “legal” immigration-you seem to have forgotten (yet again) the severe restrictions (and reduced numbers) that the previous administration put on legal immigration. And you blame the democrats for rising gas prices? Get real-policies take a long time to take affect, certainly not in 6 months. Perhaps some blame on the rising prices can be attributed to the administration though, because the economy is improving dramatically, people are consuming much more, and supply just can’t keep up. I had to laugh that after you state your fact-challenged biased opinions — with an occasional personal insults that establish your level of debate — you close with “facts not fiction.” Your comments are better suited for The Onion — although they are not even good satire. I will not waste time answering you point-by-point since you are uneducable and other readers will see your uninformed opinions for what they are.

I feel sorry for you to even try to respond to these people. I don’t even read what they say anymore and you’ll notice few people respond to them which I suspect means they are of the same mind – it’s just drilled in nonsense that you can hardly get through to open their eyes.
But it suggests to me something that would make for a great article – something along the lines of foundational mistakes in democratic-machine thinking and reports. Ok, so for instance they always drag out this thing about ‘so an so voted against this’ but in fact anybody knows that bills these days are so full of pork that you can’t really pinpoint what was voted against. Then’ there’s the naming of things, the ‘for the people act’ which is more likely the ‘fool the people act’ is a great example. Get on board baby – the name says it all, right? No, it doesn’t.
There are so many more… how about ‘such and such expert said’ as proof that they’re right. Like Bill the ‘science guy’ who was actually what, an engineer? Either way let’s see the report because we don’t believe anybody anymore because we see the money falling out of their pockets. Good grief.
I read an article in the local paper today about how somebody was killed over a bicycle. Yea, at the end of the story they mention that they really don’t know why they were arguing so it’s just filler for ads. But being liberal, the paper was sure to denounce gun violence and applaud removal of your constitutional rights.
Lest I mention the polling? How about we word this in just such a way as to get an answer we can mold into whatever we want. Hmmm. Red herring anyone?
Then there’s the one where they first suggest a possibility, say that Trump is racist because he banned a country. A week later it is ‘proved’ through all the articles that suggested it. And by the end of the year they leave out all the run up and just say he’s racist. Nothing ever changed except that they quit adding the part about how they are making it up.
Anyway – good luck knocking, I hear the echo too.
