Trump’s Day-One Executive Orders: Impressed Yet?

On January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump commenced his second term with a historic signing spree of executive orders. These actions reflect his administration’s dedication to key campaign promises, targeting areas such as immigration, energy, cultural reforms, and government efficiency. Below is a detailed breakdown of the most significant executive orders signed on Inauguration Day, alongside other notable initiatives highlighting his ambitious agenda.

This is unprecedented in U.S. history, both in the number of orders signed, but also in actions reflecting his campaign promises. These are exactly as expected.

Key Executive Orders

Mass Pardons for January 6 Defendants
President Trump issued pardons to approximately 1,500 individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol incident, labeling them as victims of political persecution. “This is a step toward justice and correcting the wrongs of the past administration,” Trump declared.

Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord
The United States officially exited the Paris Agreement, with Trump asserting that the pact burdened American businesses with excessive regulations and contributed to inflation. He emphasized prioritizing policies that favor American economic growth.

National Border Emergency Declaration
One of Trump’s cornerstone actions was declaring a national emergency at the southern border. This directive called for the military and Homeland Security to collaborate on fortifying border security, including resuming wall construction, reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy, and accelerating deportations. “American sovereignty will be defended like never before,” Trump affirmed.

Cartels Designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs)
Trump classified international cartels, such as MS-13, as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, granting law enforcement additional tools to combat organized crime and trafficking. He described cartels as a “grave national security threat.”

Dismantling of DEI Programs
Federal agencies were ordered to abolish Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, which Trump criticized for undermining meritocracy. “We’re restoring a system based on hard work and equality,” he stated.

Rollback of Climate Regulations
Trump signed an “energy omnibus” order rescinding multiple Biden-era climate policies. These included lifting the electric vehicle mandate, relaxing restrictions on oil and gas drilling, and halting offshore wind energy leases. He pledged to “unlock America’s untapped resources.”

Restoration of Biological Sex Definitions
Federal policies reverted to defining sex based on biological characteristics, reversing previous measures recognizing gender identity. Official documents like passports will now reflect biological sex exclusively.

Ban on Federal Censorship
Trump issued an order prohibiting federal agencies from censoring Americans’ speech. He also directed investigations into past government involvement in content moderation, declaring, “Free speech is a cornerstone of our democracy.”

Military Policy Changes
The president reinstated a ban on transgender individuals serving in the military, citing a return to “standards of merit-based service.”

Creation of the Department of Government Efficiency
Elon Musk was tapped to lead this new department, focused on reducing government waste and improving efficiency. Trump hailed this move as a “revolutionary step for a leaner government.”

Review of U.S. Foreign Aid
A comprehensive review of foreign aid spending was ordered, ensuring alignment with American interests. Trump emphasized that “every dollar spent abroad must benefit the American taxpayer.”

Ending Offshore Wind Energy Leases
A moratorium on offshore wind leasing was enacted due to environmental and economic concerns, with Trump promising a thorough review of permitting practices.

Federal Hiring Freeze
Trump implemented a hiring freeze across non-essential federal roles, signaling his intent to streamline government operations.

Reinstitution of “Schedule F”
The controversial Schedule F classification was reinstated, enabling the dismissal of federal employees in policy-making roles to ensure accountability.

Ending Birthright Citizenship
An executive order sought to end birthright citizenship, which Trump argued incentivized illegal immigration. Legal battles are expected to follow.

Addressing Water Crises in California
Trump redirected water resources to California’s agricultural sector, prioritizing people over environmental constraints. “We’re putting communities first,” he announced.

Restoration of the Death Penalty
The federal death penalty was reinstated, with Trump emphasizing its role in deterring violent crime and delivering justice.

America-First Trade Policy
Trump directed agencies to prioritize American interests in trade deals, raising tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico to 25%.

Promoting Classical Architecture
Federal buildings will now adhere to classical architectural styles, which Trump described as “timeless symbols of American pride.”

Additional Actions

  • Revocation of 78 Biden-era executive orders.
  • Suspension of international travel bans pending security reviews.
  • Declaration of a national energy emergency.
  • Freeze on regulations pending review.

President Trump’s bold inaugural actions underscore his commitment to delivering on campaign promises. While these executive orders set a dramatic tone for his second term, they are likely to face both legal and political resistance. However, Trump’s focus on reshaping government operations and advancing an “America First” agenda leaves no doubt about the direction of his administration.

It seems to me that terminating federal government support of illegals would go a long way to accomplishing the goal of deportation. Pull the plug on phone service, lodging, SNAP cards, prepaid debit cards, transportation, and medical care other than risk off imminent death. Once the fed doesn’t support the illegals (at a cost, according to the CBO of $100k a year EACH), then a “sanctuary” state can either pick up that expense or cooperate with deportations. Democrats or other, citizens are no likely to sit still for massive state tax increases.

Also, publishing the names of the sanctuary cities and states will likely cause mass migration from “deportation states” to those “sanctuary states.” That will do two things: put more pressure on the sanctuary governments and also concentrate the illegals in fewer locations, making the rounding up process simpler.

Ending federal support of illegals could instantly provide a trillion dollars a year direct savings. Surely that’s in the plans…right?

Yes, very negatively impressed at how he belittled our justice system, put fear in many that work jobs that Americans do not want to work, put fear into children who’s only crime was being born on US soil, shredded the US Constitution 14th Ammendment, how GOP senators can be so chicken and not stand up to Trump’s illegal orders, and how in one day he can divide Americans more than Biden did in four years!

Very impressive MAGA (Morons Are Governing Again)!

Darren; except the nys ag commiss says 50% of workers are undocumented meaning the majority of nys farm workers are migrants. Sorry. Nice personal story though and hope your family’s farms thrive.

My story is about my friend, one of the last family dairy farms in nj. He had a challenged son. great kid, and the farm was perfect for the two of them to thrive. Guy used to feed the deer because it made his son happy. Farmer feeding deer, that’s funny. But impossible to get workers cuz Americans would rather deliver mail or work Walmart than get up at 4 am. Guy had the best barn though. 80 cows a milking. I learned how much can be done with a motor, a wheel, and a long belt. Guy used to toss hay to me in my loft and laugh as he pushed me just to the edge of a heart attack as we tossed a ton. He was tossing up, I just had to stack. and he was killing me. He finally threw in the towel because labor was so hard to find. Now it’s horses, yuppie farm.

But statistically for nj I don’t know because at the same time. Other farmers were turning to Agro tourism and high margin crops changing the very nature of the business. Farm stores, tours subscriptions, wedding factories, pic ur own. mazes and more. We got one place that looks like a state fair at Halloween; cops directing traffic as two lane 50mph road in middle of nowhere goes gridlock. American labor just like at a fair. They just ran one electronic billboard on an interstate and the rest is history. In nj, the nature of farming has changed. but seems to be booming. And yes. the migrants still come in for harvest, and then leave. Get an American to live that nomadic life. I did, but I wore a tie and made a lot of bucks being on the road.
