San Francisco Quietly Passed the Reparations Bill amid Christmas Celebrations

San Francisco has stepped ahead of other liberal cities in the race for bribing the black population with the nonsensical payments of reparations for slavery. The city is setting up a special fund to pay “eligible” black residents big sums of money as reparations for the slavery and discrimination after passing a new law to legitimize this political extortion scheme.

Daily Mail reported (December 31) that San Francisco’s Mayor Daniel Lurie quietly signed the “incredibly divisive” bill just two days before Christmas to create the fund that would give away eligible black residents of the city reparations with some blacks getting as much as $5 million. The fund was recommended by city’s African American Reparations Advisory Committee (AARAC) in 2023. The paper wrote:

Per the 2023 report, every eligible African-American adult in San Francisco should be handed a $5 million lump sum to ‘compensate the affected population for the decades of harm that they have experienced.’ Approximately 50,000 black people live in San Francisco, and the qualifying requirements remain unclear.

This money will be taken out of the pockets of taxpaying Americans who had nothing to do with slavery and/or discrimination and who go to work daily to make ends meet. And it will be given to people solely on the basis of their skin color and ethnicity who don’t deserve it. But that is how liberals work the redistribution of wealth into their politics campaign strategy. This measure toward reparations comes at a time when San Francisco is bracing for a $1 billion budget deficit in 2026.

Elon Musk reacted to the news of the city’s legislation for a reparations fund by calling it “deeply morally wrong.”

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton reposted his X post from February last year sharing a video that summarizes the place of reparations in leftist politics in America.

Conservatives also shared memes with questions about reparations for the descendants of those hundreds of thousands of white men who fought in the Civil War to end slavery.

Liberals on the other contrary have hailed San Francisco’s reparations bill and fund, calling it a historic measure. The San Francisco Bay View wrote (December 31):

This development marks a shift “from apology to action,” as Supervisor Shamann Walton, the ordinance’s author, described it—a framework to channel resources toward repairing harms inflicted on the city’s Black community.

On January 1, the Alabama-based Mises Institute published an article “The Illogic of Reparations: Historical Standards, Selective Memory, and the Logic of Victory” explaining why the case of reparations is legally, morally, and logically invalid. Among other points, the article noted that America has done more to raise the living standards of blacks and American blacks enjoy a much better life that the average black population in contemporary African countries.

Liberals, meanwhile, continue to push reparations for blacks in various states. In Maryland last month, the Democrat state lawmakers overrode Governor Wes Moore’s veto of Senate Bill 587, which allows the state to create a reparations commission. The Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland was cited praising the measure as “a historic milestone.”
