Nancy Pelosi Select Committee is Doomed

Nancy Pelosi Select Committee is Doomed

It is said that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.  That seems to apply to congressional Democrats – and especially the House Democrats who are being led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi like a bunch of nose-ringed cattle.

For several years, House Democrats were able to peddle their baseless claim of Russian collusion by President Trump.  Thanks to a compliant news media, they carried that bogus story as news until Special Counsel James Mueller burst their bubble with a report that exonerated Trump, his campaign and every American from conspiring with Russian interference in the election.

Pelosi later organized the first impeachment of President Trump.  It was a slam-dunk from the start.  She had the votes to impeach regardless of any evidence – so she ordered the impeachment.  Whatever one thought of the justification for the impeachment– or lack thereof – it did not win popular approval.  It did not move the needle of public sentiment against Trump. It failed to achieve Pelosi’s objective.  Whether it ultimately led to Trump’s loss in the election is arguable but unresolvable.

Even as Trump was days away from leaving office, Nancy Pelosi engineered another slam-dunk impeachment.  She had the votes, so to Hell with justification.  This time it was due to Trump’s alleged role in the Capital Hill riot.  We know it was only an alleged accusation because since that time, Pelosi has been calling for a bipartisan commission to prove what the second impeachment was supposed to have proven.

Nancy Pelosi signed off the second impeachment even knowing that there would be no time for a trial to consider removing Trump from office – which is the primary purpose of impeachment.  Pelosi admitted that her motivation was simply to put another bad mark on Trump’s historic record. This is clearly an abuse of the impeachment process.

Now we have Nancy Pelosi’s “Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol.”  It is starting off like that line about the judge telling the defendant that he would get a fair trial and then be hanged.  The Select Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) constantly talks about investigating the “insurrection” – prejudging the nature of the attack.  It is not at all clear that it was an insurrection as opposed to a riot.  I have opined on that issue several times – seeing the attack as having all the elements of a riot, not an insurrection.

Nancy Pelosi’s select committee consists of seven Democrats and one Republican – Arizona Congresswoman Liz Cheney — to demonstrate her devotion to bipartisanship.  Really?  The Democrats and Cheney all have one thing in common.  They already know the outcome of the investigation(?).  They have prejudged the case.

So far, of the hundreds of rioters arrested and indicted by federal prosecutors, none have been charted with being part of an insurrection.  Many legal analysts – even on the left, such as CNN’s Jeffery Toobin – believe that there may not be any charges of insurrection.  Insurrection, sedition and coup are merely the political terms of the left in the court-of-public-opinion, where propaganda trumps the rule-of-law and rules-of-evidence.

Allow me to stress that I have no sympathy for rioters.  Yes, most of the protesters were peaceful, but that does not excuse those who were not. They should be punished commensurate with their individual crimes.  I apply that principle to ALL riots.  Only the Democrats and the media ignore certain riots. Riots that are often far more damaging and deadly than the January 6th attack on the Capitol.

The only difference between the many riots that have scarred our cities and the riot on Capitol Hill? The targets and victims of the rioting.  The riot on Capital Hill involved the political power elite. The common folks are the ones who suffered looting, arson, vandalism, injury and death. Often for days and weeks at a time.

Just as the Mueller Investigation and the two impeachments were not legitimate investigations based on any notion of probable cause, the Select Committee will develop dubious political narratives with only one purpose in mind – weaking the Republican Party in the hope of staving off a GOP takeover of the House and perhaps the Senate.

There can be no other purpose since the FBI is doing the REAL investigation.  They are the only agency that can – as we hear so often – “get to the bottom of things” and bring justice.  The Select Committee can put on a partisan dog and pony show. They can produce fodder for the media allies. But it has no power to indict, convict and sentence anyone.

With Nancy Pelosi in charge, the House has appropriated Hollywood’s unofficial theme song, “There’s No Business like Show Business.”

So, there ‘tis.

Larry, you have a gift for timing! Today’s big story is the leaked release of the Kremlin’s plan to assist in getting the “ mentally unstable” trump elected to further Russia’s agenda and destabilize America in the process. Our intelligence agencies are aware of this document and seem to have verified that it is legit.
    Way to go Commrad!

    • larry Horist

LOL ….. You must have loved the phony dossier. You constantly insist that the Russian are constantly trying to disrupt America — and then you believe something that gets “leaked.” And even if true, it does not change the fact that Special Counsel Mueller declared that Trump &Co. did not conspire with the Russians.

Larry, The scary part is, true or not, you voted ( twice) for a candidate that most of the world thought,” I’m not sure if this is true or not, but it’s certainly a possibility “. That’s why personal ethics used to matter, especially to the “ family values” Republicans.
The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing evangelicals that the racist man who makes fun of dead soldiers, has 5 kids by 3 different women, incites violence, and lies constantly… was sent here by god.

        • larry Horist

To be precise, I voted AGAINST candidates who would lead administrations that I consider to be very dangerous to the American democracy in the long run. I hope that even you can see that Republicans generally support limited government — especially at the top — less regulations and lower taxes. Democrats believe in BIG central government controlled by an elite class, big spending, huge budgets, enormous deficits and usurping the rights of states by assuming more and more programs and power to the federal level. The American government cannot be overthrown by a mob regardless of the latest narrative. But it can be eroded by those who lean to authoritarian power — using the taxpayer money to make people dependent on government. And you need to understand … I do not favor big government policies from so-called Republican moderates. Keep in mind that government is not just about the President … but all the people he puts into his administration and empowers. If Trump had won, Ocasio-Cortez would be nothing more than a political pest … but Biden empowers her, the Squad and Bernie Sanders.

    Definition of insurrection
: an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government

    • Dan Tyree

In this case it describes patriots

    • larry Horist

A simple answer from a simple mind. The legal meaning of insurrection is not determined by the dictionary. That is a general definition, not a legal one. It is the difference between conspiring and criminal conspiracy. I hope that is not too subtle for you to comprehend. BUT… if I were to accept you definition, they a lot of those riots that have plagued our cities for generations were insurrections — especially on the west coast, where they even declared independence from America and took over a police headquarters. And was the Mayor complicit when she declared the riot nothing more than a festival. And what about those folks attacking the federal buildings in Portland? And so far, no one has been charged with insurrection by the FBI.

Larry, speaking of succession , I just read that 3/5 ths of republicans from southern states would like to succeed from the Union.
We’ve gone from one Nation” under god” to two Nations under trump.

          Sounds good to me

Honestly it makes me a little sick every time I hear anybody who is pro-America call this thing a riot. Really? These people came in masse to have their voices heard that they don’t like what is going on – the ugly tactics the Democrats are using and the ugly way the election went down. It’s all so suspicious and they wanted to be seen. That’s all – a protest that got a little too close to home. What, are you trying to be ‘fair’ by being brutally honest to admit our team broke a window and somebody had a stick? Were there any guns found?

Does anybody in their right mind think they went there to overthrow the government – that’s just an idiotic premise considering they’re walking around in polka-dot pants, star-wars costumes, and bunny ears. Were any weapons found at all? Did anybody see a militia? I saw some Antifa-geared people in there trying to run it south, but nobody on our team had any foul intentions like that. Ridiculous on its face. Let’s call it what it was and quit pandering to the left who won’t admit that what they have done and are still doing to burn down business districts in their cities is what a riot really looks like. Not this.

So stop it Larry – at best call it a ‘mostly peaceful protest.’ That’s the going term now, isn’t it? But stop calling it a riot – that’s not what it was.

The only reason that there weren’t bodies in the streets is that 99.9% were white. I can say, that if I was a D.C. cop on January 6, more than Ashli Babbit would have paid dearly, period! And it was a riot to most Americans.

    • larry Horist

AS I have frequently described it. It was a peaceful protest that evolved into a riot by a small number of trouble-makers. What makes it even less than the riots we have seen in many cities is that it lasted only a few hours — and most people went home by sundown. I cannot see how anyone would call the rioters “peaceful.” They were breaking laws as much as doors and windows. So they should be held accountable. I just point out that for some reason, the rioters, arsonist and looters are not held to the same level of investigation, follow-up news reports and criminal charges.

      • Ben

Larry, define “small number of trouble makers”.
Because in my mind 400+ Trouble makers is a LOT of troubled makers

    • Ben

Red Bull, turn off OAN AND FAUX news. There are several good documentaries on 1-6. The New York Times put an excellent factual hour long video of your peaceful protest.
By your account, this summer BLM were also largely peaceful protests. Y’all can’t have it both ways.

As the released documents have since proved, there was collusion between Trump(the Russian asset) and Putin his handler. You keep lying like Trump for Trump. Keep perpetuating the Big Lie and you are another weak-ass insurrectionist and a joke!

    • larry Horist

Rhon. Why do you base your argument on lying. There are no such documents that PROVE criminal collusion between Trump and Russia. There is a recently “leaked” document that suggests Russians were meddling … but not in concert with Trump. I just wonder why you would chose to believe some Russian document. Remember the dossier? You are spreading the same lie that Democrats tried to peddle for three years — until the special counsel exonerated Trump … period. Secondly, I have never stated that I believe Trump won the election. Another lie on your part. And as far as your closing sophomoric insults are concerned, that merely establishes your intellectual debate level.

    • Dan Tyree

Rhon who fed you that bullshit? Let’s talk about retard joe and China you dumbass

As an American I feel that those involved in setting up ( Pelosi and cronies ) those Jan. riots and all those dumb impeachment’s against PRESIENT Trump should be immediately taken out of office, and put in jail for treason. Pelosi and Schummer, Biden and Harris , AOC , Warren and Walters should face prison time for incitement and treason against the USA.

Larry, have you seen the FBI files on Nancy Pelosi? Many of us did as it was put out on the web. It shows her lifetime of crime starting about 60 years ago when Nancy became an adult. She has been into human and child sex trafficking. She violated the Logan Act at least three times and she belongs to a cult-the very same one Hillary started originating in Albany, NY and led to the Clinton Foundation building at Central Park and the tunnels underneath. They were up to no good in child sex and trafficking plus much more horrible underground things. Did you also see the FBI file and video from the FBI? It shows a man that was an ANTIFA man who was arrested and saying that it was not DONALD TRUMP that started the so called insurrection. He claimed it was Nancy Pelosi that started it by calling the head of ANTIFA telling him to have his people dress like Trump supporters and arrive at the Capitol on January 5, 2021. Then on January 6, during Trump’s speech they were to start riots, destruction, maim people and kill them if they could. I am NOT making this up . I have seen those files. No one is doing anything about her and she should be arrested for treason among other crimes. Check it out for yourself. It is true.

Larry, Why did you not call this out for the BS that it is? You are so quick to refer to liberal conjectures as being bogus, but for some reason seem unable to be non-partisan and call BS, BS….

Liz Cheney is not a congresswoman from Arizona. She’s from Wyoming.

Larry, Those of us who have read your “blogs” with any regularity are used to you playing fast and loose with facts, but with this writing, you have made it clear that you don’t even understand what you write about. Let’s talk about the second impeachment first-there was one reason, and one reason only for that impeachment and trial, which was to make it impossible for one DJT to ever run for office again-not just to put a “black” mark next to his name. Unfortunately, you (and the vast majority of your elected legislators) are unable to comprehend what potential benefits for your party would have resulted had this impeachment been successful. The way would have been cleared for many far more qualified individuals to run for President. Instead, you have a situation where someone who lost in his latest run for President by 7 million votes, is still teasing a run, someone who has grown more unpopular since leaving office (even with Republicans), and others who might wish to run for President have to tiptoe around their aspirations to avoid stepping on the very sensitive toes of the ex-President. A few of your brighter legislators did catch this, and voted to impeach, but the majority (like yourself) just sees that vile Nancy Pelosi out to get us…Your quibbling over Riot vs Insurrection is simply childish. The people who broke into the Capitol were not peaceful (as some of the previous commenters asserted), but were there to disrupt the events of the day-which was to formalize our duly elected 46th President. Some of them voiced desires to kill some of our major legislators (including Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi, etc). If this attempt to disrupt our government proceedings does not qualify as an insurrection, I don’t know what does? In your mind do they have to be successful in overthrowing the duly elected government before it becomes an insurrection? Doubt that many will agree with you. As to the committee that is going to investigate the events of Jan 6-many on the Republican side are saying that these were not conservative protesters, that Antifa elements were present, that the FBI caused some of these protesters to become more aggressive, etc. If any of this is true, why do Republicans not want a bipartisan commission to investigate these events? Nancy and Chuck made a good-faith effort to have a bipartisan commission investigate what happened on Jan 6-agreeing to every demand that Republicans in the Senate made. However, we know how that turned out-Moscow Mitch didn’t want to look at the events as he knew that the claims that some of his legislators were making are total BS, and he figured the truth might not be helpful in 2022. Republicans had an opportunity to participate in an investigation that was basically on their terms-now they are stuck with the House investigation that is not quite as satisfactory for them (of course, McCarthy is likely going to make it even worse by not appointing 5 members to the commission as he has been invited to do). Is there precedent for an investigation like this? Of course there is-can you say “Benghazi”, do you remember the hearings on the Clinton emails? Both of these events had far less potential to impact the governing of the United States than Jan 6-but they did involve the frontrunner (and eventual Democrat nominee). Partisan investigation? Clearly… So there it tis, more facts and less spin….
