Kamala looking for a comeback … fat chance

Vice President Kamala Harris had a wonderful career in California.  She started her political rise in uber liberal San Francisco – where she served as District Attorney.  She moved up to the Golden States’ Attorney General – and from there to the United States Senate.  That is when her jet engines started to sputter.

She joined the field of Democratic candidates in the 2020 presidential primaries.  She came on strong and fizzled quickly.  She was not the people’s choice.

She got a golden ticket when Joe Biden selected her to be his running mate – despite her poor performance in the presidential race.  Biden did not pick her based on her popularity or qualifications.  He promised to select a Black woman regardless of qualifications – or the qualifications of other possibilities.  It was a political correctness DEI choice.  There were not a lot of Black female candidates from which to choose.  For all practical purposes, Harris was the only choice given Biden’s racial and gender requirement.

Harris came through four years as Vice President without distinction – at least positive distinction.  She was best known for staff departures … conflict with the Biden’s staff … failure, as border czar.  She was assigned to push for the Democrats’ pet voting rights legislation — and she failed.  She became more famous for her bizarre cackling and “word salad” rhetoric — often resulting in being the brunt of mocking late-night comedy.

But … when it became obvious to Democrat leaders and donors that Biden was not going to beat Trump — and when his mental decline could no longer be covered-up – it was too late for the Party to have an open selection process for a successor.  Harris was the default choice.

In the campaign, Harris burst on the scene like a skyrocket – and fizzled quickly, as is his habit.  There is something – maybe a number of things – that undercuts her public appeal.  Just as it did in the 2024 primaries.  She has never done well with voters on the national scene.  Besides Biden, Harris may be the only Democrat who could not beat Trump.

Since her defeat, Harris has been largely ignored by Democratic leadership – and the left-wing media.  Politically, she has been put in the rearview mirror.

So … what about her desired comeback?  In a nutshell, I would say … “ain’t gonna happen.”

Her two options appear to be a run for governor of California in 2026 or a later run for President.  A return to the Senate seems out of the question unless she runs from a state other than California.  Those Senate seats are tied up by Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff.

It has been done, however.  Both Robert Kennedy and Hillary Clinton abandoned their home states to run successfully in New York.  Mitt Romney moved from his ancestral state of Michigan — where his father was governor – to serve as governor of Massachusetts.  After losing a presidential bid in 2012, he moved to Utah to serve as a United States senator.  Unfortunately for Harris, there are not any good options in deep blue states.

She can focus on another presidential run in 2028.  As the 2024 candidate, one might think she would be in a strong position.  But not so.  She lacks shelf appeal among the national electorate.  And … she is not well-liked by the current Democrat leaders – fractured as they are.  She would not get any support from the old guard – Obama, Shumer, Pelosi.  She would be opposed by a field of more qualified contenders – Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro, California Governor Newsom, Minnesota Governor Walz, and others.  And she would not be the choice of the radical left – Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez and the so-called “squad”.  She would have a difficult time winning over the Democrat donor class.

If she has any hope of holding a major political office in the future, the only conceivable chance seems to be that run for California governor – and I would see that as a very long shot.  And even if she would pull off a surprise win in liberal California, it would not be a stepping stone to the White House.  Harris does not wear well on the national stage.

So, there ‘tis.

Larry, you certainly put a lot into making a case against Harris. You appear to be very sure of yourself on this. The “rear view mirror” metaphor is one you once used for Trump. But that didn’t happen, as much as the majority of Americans now wish was true.
Who knows what Harris’ political future holds in any capacity. But, she does not deserve your zealous right wing animosity. Typical Horist Dem hatred to kick a woman who is down and out of the public eye.
How low is your vocabulary inventory of words you save from use except for those in the party up detest.
You talk about your not harboring hate for anyone. I challenge you on that point. Unless your definition for hate, hatred, and hating is unlike what is commonly understood in this country. It’s plain from your PBP article posts, that your opinion of Democrats in general and certain individuals whose views and policies you openly detest, measured solidly in the hatred zone.
Now, it’s possible you don’t carry opinions of Kamala Harris past a dislike for her laugh or her speech organization besides your opinion of her as a Democrat who dared to run against your main man Trump.
This article the you dedicate to the candidate who lost to Trump would have been full of more demonizing assertions had she won the election.
If your articles dedicated to Biden were not written with emotion and intent that was borne of hatred then President Kamala Harris would positively set your hair on fire,
As has been a historical norm, until Trump’s loss in 2020, candidates for the presidency having lost do the honorable thing. They concede their loss and move on. Kamala in the months after November 2020 has pulled herself away from media coverage and its hot spotlight.
That is an emotionally difficult and lengthy process personally for the candidate not elected. As a voter who deliberately decided against the Republican candidate and must now live with the other party’s’ choice. I appreciate a small part of Harris’ letdown and heart break.
What you, Larry, fail at, among countless more, is that few if any people pay attention to your crystal ball kind of punditry.
I write this as a critical thinker and one who try’s to objectively evaluate what happens in our world and what PBP and others choose to post on line.
I understand, that’s not PBP’s purpose There in is the rub, as it’s said.

Not much interest in your trashing attempt at Democrats by way of Kamala Harris’s uncharted political future and opportunities.
As a matter of fact, not much interest from the PBP choir. Trash talking aimed at Frank Danger and Mike has been weak
Trump sucks the air out of politics, discussions of politics devolve into rancorous unpalatable exchanges between former friends and soon to be estranged family members.
I know you, Mr. Horist, are not a believer in Lent, Holy Week, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, but this weekend families will be gathering to celebrate a tradition it not Easter the religious holiday. If coming together with family becomes stressful it’s because they haven’t understood the respectful practice of agreeing to disagree but not be disagreeable.
Trump is a subject that when brought up at a social or family gathering, one will soon discover no one is non committal, everyone has their own personal opinion. Whether pro-Trump or anti-Trump most are adamant.
Before Trump came on the national stage to make his brand known political arguments would
not often become more than a non confrontational debate on ideas taken from opposing sides of the issues.
What happened in people’s minds that created volatility. Was it Trump who saw a hot opportunity and seized on it for personal gain.
Trump the opportunist whose claim to fame was the saying “You’re Fired!” He made a name for himself and parlayed name recognition into being nominated at the GOP National Convention. Why he grabbed a win in the most consequential popularity contest in Presidential history of elections. DJ Trump owned nothing akin to political experience at any level of government when nominated to run on the GOP ticket in 2016.
But the conservative Republican Party took a chance in Trump then an unproven quantity. He came with sn arrangement not unlike pig in a poke.
Through the years since he has shown himself to be an accomplished seller of snake oil to millions of our fellow citizens. They came unsuspecting and largely gullible, uneducated, working class, and mainly women. These the convinced that he understood their wants and only he could fix the broken system.
You, Larry, went along with Trump’s deceptions, confidence schemes, and Lies. Even the 2020 election lie had your stamp of approval. All the rest of Trump’s I’ll gotten gain from his position the first time and given a second term he will accomplish the illegalities begun in Trump 1.0
It’s all on you and your ilk who stood by and said nothing, in as much as an encouraging bless you true Republican
Ae will see how and when Trump is stopped. He must be stopped with his wrecking crew cabinet of political morons doing his bidding.
Keeping silent is not an option. Those who don’t oppose are fearful cowards or plain don’t give rat’s ass. Now that’s something you know about Trump bragged that National leaders from around the world were signing up to kiss his ass. So, Trump is that rat’s ass I don’t care for
