Finally … An Admission It Is All About Trump Hate
We have been told by religious clergy, civic leaders and professional psychologists that hate is a very bad emotion. It takes away our ability to reason and think objectively. It leads us to dangerous and destructive actions. And it even intoxicates the hater.
That is why I have spent my life never hating another human being – or groups of human beings. I can certainly disagree with folks. Some may even find me disagreeable. I very much disrespect people who do bad things and believe in bringing them to justice – but never hate them.
Oh … I do use the word “hate” as synonymous with “dislike” – as “I hate Spam and spiders.” But never when referring to a person I may dislike or disrespect.
Most people who harbor hate deny it, of course. It is never very convincing to all those who see the hatred in their words and actions. Hate does not like to be hidden in the recesses of our minds. It wants to be manifest – on full display — and usually is.
Recently a Trump hater admitted to his absolute out-of-control Trump hate.
In a morning interview on national television, Tennessee Democrat Congressman Steve Cohen admitted that he hates Trump – really hates him. He even emphasized and amplified his hatred for Trump by repeating his proclamation several times.
Of course, we could only diagnose everything he said prior to his admission as chronic hatred for Trump. According to Cohen, there seems to be no punishment too cruel or too unjust to impose on Trump. Most of which was nonsensical piling on – as haters are prone to do. Cohen ranted as though he was that loud voice in a lynch mob calling for vigilante justice.
While Cohen’s admission was a bit of a surprise, his unbridled Trump hate – and even Republicans, in general – was in full flourish during the first impeachment in which he was one of the inquisitors. He has long ago revealed himself as the kind of brittle strident partisan that seems to see unity, comity and cooperation as weaknesses.
His toxicity puts him on constant attack mode, provokes righteous outrage from those he maliciously attacks and contributes to the divisive polarization we see in American politics today. Cohen is the problem, not the solution.
Sadly, Cohen is not alone in his hate-based approach to politics, but seems to be the only one willing to admit that the demons of his mind drive him, rather than the better angels of his soul.
So, there ‘tis.
Maybe it’s the Conservative in me, but other than a few years in my youth while being tormented by those my own age, I cast off hate. It’s the street to nowhere, as we’re currently seeing. It will destroy the hater, and too often the hated as well by those joining in on the hate. Hate breeds hate and painful words as well.

Lemme help you out. We don’t hate trump( except for the law maker you cite.) In fact, he did what we couldn’t do for the last 30 years.
But we really don’t like what he stands for. The 7 deadly sins basically cover our reasoning. The fact that he is antithetical to the Christian faith that this Nation claims to hold dear. The fact that he has enabled a cult following that felt ok with trying to overthrow our Government and execute the Politicians that didn’t bend to their will.
I do LOVE that he has exposed the hypocrisy of the right. All the hyperventilating about the deficit, free money for the citizens, family values, and law and order, blue lives matter. And I LOVE that he single handedly destroyed the Republican Party.

I did not cite Cohen as the only Trump hater. There are legions of them in the Democratic Party and the leftwing media. The rarity is that he has been the only one to admit his malignant attitude so publicly. You and your parrot, Tom, qualify as haters in my book. It is seen in the nastiness of your comments. You guys cannot seem to understand or tolerate anyone who does not share you opinion. I like many of Trump’s policies and appointments — as does half the nation. By the way, I do not recall seeing any politicians executed. Was that and MSNBC exclusive? Ben and Tom …. OK. Now, RARELY do I post anything here but to point out your, and the Cult’s hypocrisy. Occasionally I will throw out a clever jab like “CONservatives” or Cult members, something similar. But mostly I read something like, “ADemocrat FINALLY admits he hates trump” and am completely dumbfounded by your lack of self awareness. Like, seriously, that’s all the right has going for them, fear and hate. I don’t think trump has a platform other than undo everything President Obama accomplished and tell his cult what to be afraid of.
Hate filled and closed minds? That’s all you write and all the readers you preach to. Read the comments. I rarely attack you or the Cult members by name calling ( except of course calling you guys a Cult, which really isn’t name calling if it’s factual), I simply point out that the very things you are complaining about, your Party is guilty of.
Besides, as I said, what’s not to love about trump? When he was elected, you had the House, Senate, and Presidency, plus a TON of political capital. Rather than address the issues which Ben and I point out and which provide balance to your myopic one way articles, you instead seek to label your loyal opposition as “haters”. So let me be clear on what I hate (notice I did not say who I hate): I hate: 1) Lies and deceit and stories that are one sided and twist/skew the truth, 2) hypocrisy like calling for Americans to hate China while secretly overusing the EB-5 Investment visa to attract Chinese money, 3) leaving DACA children adrift with no hope, 4) destroying health care for 12 million people, 5) displaying the Stars and Bars in our Capitol, 6) beating police forces sworn to defend the Capitol, 7) Threatening our congressmen, women, and VP, name calling such as Demorats, calling our newly elected VP a ho, 8) denying the same right to power and prosperity for all people, 9) thinking that Trump supporters are half of the country (last time I checked there were 330 million citizens and only 75 million Trump voters/supporters while almost 80 million voted for Biden- do the math), 9) tax cuts that impose future debt on our children and yet to be born children so that companies and wealthy people can increase their wealth, 10) attempts to frustrate mail in voting by removing mail processing machines before an election, 11) tying up our courts with 60 suits, all founded on a pile of lies, 12) demeaning speech against our veterans and prisoners of war (McCain) and our Gold Star Families by people who pursued military deferments or were not in the military for whatever reason, 13) sacrificing American lives by ignoring a pandemic for personal political gain, 14) disrupting the normal and ceremonial processes of government such as election certification, etc. I do not hate the people and I do not call them ugly names – I simply hate what they do because their actions damage all of us in one way or another. And their actions do not represent many of us. And Larry, your articles have promoted many of these items aforementioned in 1 – 14. Larry the only reason you did not see any politicians executed was that the would be assassins were re-directed by a very quick thinking African American policeman inside the capital building – they got within 100 feet of accomplishing their evil goal. And the FBI found their pipe bombs, molotov bombs filled with home made jellied petroleum, and many weapons. It would appear that your very own household, the constitutional conservatives and many of your bloggers have plenty of hate and intolerance. Yet you choose to ignore it. Your response is testimony to your willingness to label others who do not see as you do. Larry I am so glad you found one democrat that actually hates Trump. I am sure it felt about the same as when you caught your first fish. But Larry, you did not have to go so far as TN to find an example of hate. There were many conservatives at the capital last week waving a symbol of hatred and racism – the stars and bars. Yes Larry, all you really ever needed to do was to look within your own constitutional conservative household as see the haters wanting to harm our vice president. All you had to do was look at Trump lapdog Rudy’s face when he said “trial by combat” and you would have seen real hatred on display. Replay the video of the storming of the Capital and see all of the hatred on display. Go back to Mitch McConnell’s statement on October 2010 ““The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” Or maybe look at the faces of Republicans as they vow to kill ObamaCare. Or maybe read some of the comments written on your article blog and see the hate on display that you allow as “free speech”. Yes Larry, Constitutional Conservatives have done a very good job at furthering the cause of hate which is why I became a non-partisan independent voter. You never needed to look outside your own household if you really wanted to find hate.

Thank you Ben. You are correct, zero awareness. They seem to forget that they pushed for impeachment of POTUS Obama four times! They forget that they actively tried to diminish his presidency then when Trump was elected the first thing they did was try to destroy his legacy! They think Trump did such a great job with the economy but forget all that Obama did to get the economy going after the crash at the end of the Bush era. DJIA was 7600 when Obama took over and 14,300 or so when he left. They forget that four times under Obama the GDP hit 4% while it never got there under Trump. Yeah that hair comment was pretty cheap and frankly rather stupid to me.
The law of the universe says that you get back what you send out three times over, whether it is good or bad. Think about all of the hatred, malice and vengence that the democrats are sending out now, and sit back and wait for it to come back to them in spades.

People who focus all their attention on politics to me are nut cases. There are times I feel hate but only in the heat of the moment. I was a active Democrat for well over 30 years. I thought the Democrats were way too liberal for me so I became a Republican, and then how I saw they were so hung up in their beliefs as the Democrats. I am a true independent. I don’t hate I just try to think which candidate for each office is qualified. I disregard the Ds and Rs by their name and look at them as individuals.
I agree Kurt! I am a non-partisan independent voter as well. D and R mean nothing to me. I look at who I think can do the greatest amount of good for ALL of the people and the qualifications they have to get the job done.
Larry, While most of what I think has been said by those writing before me, I must say that i think it is pretty ‘rich’ that you decide to point out ‘hate’ by democrats. There has never been a president who espoused as much hate as the current lame duck. He showed hatred for anybody who was unwilling to tell him “you’re the greatest”. That included Mexicans, Muslims, Blacks, Democrats, Republicans that saw his chronic corruption as a problem, the list could go on, but I am sure that you and the rest of your readers get the picture. Hatred and division has been the key to his ‘success’, at least that is what got him elected the first time. And the majority of Republicans in Congress were willing to go along with it. Now we just need to be sure that this wanna be autocrat never holds elected office again. While I won’t say that I am such a good person that I don’t hate Donald Trump, he has certainly earned it. When he was elected, I was willing to give him a chance, though I have viewed him as a very flawed individual since he started making national news headlines 30 years ago, it did not take very long for me to realize that yes, he really was going to run a corrupt administration and that the world was going to be much worse off for him having been elected to the highest office in the country. So he closed out his time in office by showing the country that he truly hated the democratic process by lying to the world about how election fraud was the only reason that he was not re-elected, and in so doing riled up his supporters to have an unprecedented attack on our seat of government. That shows where the real hate in this country is coming from….
