Winsome Sears has the makings of a GOP superstar
Among the various specific results of the November 2nd election that are under-reported by the left-leaning news media is the election of Winsome Earle Sears to the office of Lt. Governor in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
You would likely have seen and heard a lot more about her election if she was a Democrat. But nooo. Sears is a REPIBLICAN … a BLACK Republican … a black FEMALE Republican … a black female CONSERVATIVE Republican. In fact, Sears is the first black woman – the first woman, period — to win statewide election in Virginia … ever. The first foreign born woman. She – like my own daughter – was born in Jamaica. And she is a former Marine.
Those bits of reality garner limited attention from CNN and MSNBC because they throw a lot of cold water on the left’s narrative that the GOP has no appeal to black Americans – or any minority American. That blacks are monolithically liberal Democrats – so sayeth … Democrats.
She may be a newcomer to the national spotlight, but she has been making waves in Virginia in the past. In 2002, she joined the House of Delegates by defeating twenty-year incumbent Billy Robinson, Jr. – who was figuratively given the seat when his daddy, Billy Robinson, Sr., died in 1981. Sears ended 40 years of Robinson family dynasty in the House of Delegates.
Upon being sworn in as a Delegate back in 2002, Sears was the first Jamaican, first female veteran, and the first naturalized citizen to serve in the Virginia House of Delegates.
If you did happen to see her on FOX, you are likely to believe that Winsome Sears will not be so easily ignored in the future. She is a dynamo – a tour-de-force. She could be a formidable senate candidate in 2024, when incumbent Democrat Senator Tim Kaine would be up for re-election.
Having served as Vice President of the Virginia Board of Education and a presidential appointee to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Sears could be a Cabinet member in a future Republican administration.
If Republicans miss the chance to give her a role in reaching out to black and minority voters, the GOP will again be trying to prove that they are the stupid Party in American politics. Even the GOP cannot be that stupid. Right?
In the meantime, keep an eye on Winsome Sears.
So, there ‘tis.
I dunno Larry; read it in WAPO, MSNBC, and think I saw it on CNN, live, most certainly read it there too.
Didn’t see where NJs democratic version of McConnell, Mr. Sweeney got beat by a virgin politico ex truck driver with zero government experience either. The guy didn’t even spend any real money so that one is real scary…..to Democrats. .
But I think you missed the even bigger story where she called out joy Reid of MSNBC, threw down,, and challenged her to bring her on the show. That’s something I’d like to see from MS NBC or Fox. Start putting these Punditz together, against each other, with opposing politicians , for live discussions,. I tire of watching the pundits basically talking to themselves and their friends. More challenges! More face-to-face debate. And if they don’t accept the challenge, announce it from the mountaintop.
Wait with anticipations to see what joy does.
One last point Larry. You know you have a problem when you have to trumpet every single black win as if it represents a seachange indicating it’s party of inclusion. The ole “let me tell you about my black friend,” fallacy. This one is a big win for Republican race relations, no doubt, even groundbreaking in American politics, but that still does not make the Republican party one of inclusion or a party that has the best interest of the black community at heart. Blacks represent like 17% of America and are in the single digits within the republican party, low single digits. Sure, Democrats have some real issues here, but we’re still a bigger better deal for blacks than the Republican party.. at least based on the votes and the party affiliation.
Blacks are leaving the commiecrat’s plantation
Frank .. would you agree that the coverage you saw on those other outlets was minimal? I cruise the left-wing media and I saw nothing on MSNBC and CNN. I saw her election night speech on FOX — and flipped over CNN and MSNBC, and they were not covering it. But I did see the truck driver who beat the NJ Senate President on FOX. It was the next day when CNN covered. The challenge to Reid came after I had sent in the Winsome Sears commentary.
I actually have a figure of 14 percent black population according to the census bureau — and 13 percent of the 2020 vote. Trump was not in single digits. He has 13 percent of the Black vote — and increase over his 2016 total.. And you are correct Democrats do have a greater share of the black vote — but it has been shifting. You seem to think that because more blacks vote Democrat that Republicans cannot point to the growing number of black office holders … party officials … etc. Using the same logic … since most Evangelicals vote Republican, then Democrats should not point to those who are Democrat. I am expecting a significant shift in the minority vote as more and more blacks and Latinos recognize that the greatest oppression is in the segregated communities in democrat run cities. I see that because I spend a lot of time in contact and communication with inner city minorities — leaders and average citizens. I joke that is you know anyone who has spoken in more black churches, you know what you call them. Pastors.
I completely reject your spin on noting Winsome’s win. She was breaking glass ceilings. Your “I have a black friend” canard is a cheap shot. When you suggest that I am using a “I know a black person” bs, you dismiss that I have a black daughter. My late-brother has two black grandchildren — as well as several Mexican grandchildren. Blacks have been ushers in my wedding more than 50 years ago. I have several awards for black organizations for my support and assistance. The first black mayor of Chicago approved my being hired as the chief consultant tot he school board. The second black mayor of Chicago hired me has his campaign communications director. Anyone who know me knows that the Horist family has no intolerance or racism in our genes. I do not know you Frank … but I would bet that your involvement with black people is much more limited than mine. I would be happy to be corrected.
Yes Larry, I did not see much coverage on msm for this, but I saw what I noted anecdotally, your anecdotal spin aside. And no Larry, I called it a big win, even groundbreaking. I find it funny that your response to the ole black friend canard is to roll out a few black family members which changes little since that’s exactly what you are doing for the Republican party in toto. And no Larry, not a tweak, I respect what you’re doing in family planning, just pointing out that’s a less than perfect example to prove the Republican party is becoming more inclusive. Maybe false equivalency would have been a better canard. Sorry.
In truth, 13% of 13% is a God awful small number. Furthermore, there of been a number of other Republican presidential candidates, and candidates, that have garnered quite a few more black American votes. Yes, Trump increased his percentage from 2016 to 2020 but others have done so much better in the republican party. Nothing from nothing only get you 13% of 13%. In most places, we would call that chump change.
I just don’t see how one victory, no matter how much of a Sea change that single victory is necessarily represents a solid significant trend in itself. For that matter, I think the following article from Forbes, not exactly a liberal bastion main stream media outlet, pretty much numerically shows that one extent give me some progress, to another extent others in the past I’ve done better. It’s a nice history starting with them point where Republicans actually favored civil rights rather than today when they just say no. I have to thank you, I really did not know the following and found it illuminating. https://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2020/11/09/no-trump-didnt-win-the-largest-share-of-non-white-voters-of-any-republican-in-60-years/?sh=59cca7e34a09
Ooops. Sorry Larry, in my response I think I skipped past the ex brother. You have a very black history, I can respect that. It’s all good. But I stand by my words as to this is no defense as to the inclusiveness of the Republican party as evidenced by one landmark election breakthrough.
As to measuring up against your black experience; first, again, you really didn’t need to do this, one doesn’t get bonus points by knowing more blacks than I or how many blacks are in my family any more than Dan can claim he is not a racist because his ancestor had sex with a Native American. I know you know it just doesn’t work that way. You are or are not a racist based on words and actions.
For the record, I don’t think you’re a racist like Dan. Further, I think you support equality and have done something proactive. As to me Larry, do you really want to measure? I tend to doubt it and really hope I did not force you to justify, was not my intent at all. Sorry to piss you off, I am sure you were in back up mode because you felt I was being an ass. I have no doubt you attempt to look past race probably more than most, more than me.
Perhaps your mama had sex with a pig. So what does that make you?
Hey, the NJ Republican needs money for the recount. Maybe Don will cough it up. Heh, heh. Maybe Dan will pitch in some to catch those stealin commicrats. Yeah, right.
Gladly
“the GOP will again be trying to prove that they are the stupid Party” The only way to improve that statement is to say “have been continuously” instead of “will again”.
Of course, you just threw old Danny Boy under the bus… and yourself too, since the GOP and the Conservatives have been in lockstep since the Reagan years. When I say it, you want to argue with me…
Stupid party? We kicked ass in the recent elections But people were tossing out the real stupid party
Kicked ass? Once again Dan’s favorite focus.
But you are deluded. A warning message maybe. You flipped one state, misfired and list in the second. Progressives took Boston, lost the defund bid in MINN; you call that kicking ass?
We got the message in VA, but traditionally we should have lost there anyway. And the new gov’s son cheated and tried to vote, a great start. But you lost the easy win in NJ. At least according to every election ever held there, you should have won.
And then the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed, bbb moved ahead and is nearing completion, jobs report good, yada, yada, yada. Another grand jury for Trumpco, 1/6 investigation gaining steam, subpoenas, and convictions. Looks like Trump documents roll next, whata treasure trove that is. Oh yeah, mandates working, vaccine working, only fools can’t see it and continue to die at like 1,300 a day in Trumpland. Which is sad, sigh And totally unnecessary. Sure, it’s gonna be a ling winter, but all in all, not a bad week.
You’re a delusional guy. Flipped one state. Wait for the midterms. You ain’t seen nuthin yet. But be as it may, Trump is going to be ok. And quit worrying. I don’t think that he’s running for president. It’s killery cunton that should be worrying.
I haven’t heard any PBP commentary about the “war room” set up at the Willard Hotel yet either. It was set up a couple of days before Jan 6th, with the express purpose of overturning the election results. All your favorite Trumpist right-winged idiot Congressmen and Senators were there, and Trump even called in to check on the progress. That sure does sound like treason to me… a conspiracy involving multiple parties, with the expressed purpose of overturning an election and taking over the country.
Of course, you’re not going to see it on FOX News (especially since sleepy-drunk fake-Judge Jeannie is implicated)… which means you won’t see it here either, since all of Larry’s stories are FOX News rehashes. And when it finally does become a big enough story for FOX (and eventually Larry) to cover, they will take the “just Democratic attack politics” road to downplay it. You heard it here first, folks!
Wow, one post about how opposing-view posts seem to be getting delayed, and suddenly my posts show up immediately again! Conservatives don’t like being called hypocrites…
Now that you admitted you didn’t kick ass, due to your cranial placement therein, did you just use the c word? God’s gift to women..
It’s just amazing how often you open your mouth just to be wrong
BUSTED.
Why not? The bitch called me deplorable I don’t blame Bill for cheating on her. Imagine waking up beside that every morning. And she probably cackles in her sleep. And her bed farts are probably terrible
I find most racists to be deplorable, IMO. But mostly just no action loudmouths. Like how much cash did you “gladly” donate to fund the NJ Republican recount? Or just another dantasy? And you say you like being a proud native American Southern racist. And that ain’t woke, it’s just like Elizabeth did to get ahead. Your name calling is getting worse, hit a nerve? Well, pick yourself up, throw some more crudity to ease your frustrations in life. Come on, spew away.
Willard Hotel: I google it and here’s what WIKI says, although I paraphrase with perhaps a few liberties: “Willard is a meek conservative misfit who develops an affinity for rats. He lives in a large white house with his cranky and decrepit communist wife, Henrietta. On his 77th birthday, he comes home to a surprise birthday party thrown by his wife, where all of the attendees are her friends because he has none. After leaving the party in embarrassment, he notices a rat in his backyard and tosses it pieces of his birthday cake.
His wife tells him to eliminate the rats. Willard uses food and a plank bridge to lure them into a pit in the backyard, then begins filling the pit with water to drown them. However, moved by the rats’ piteous squeals as they realize their plight, he replaces the plank, allowing them to get to safety and head to Congress. He later begins playing with a rat he names Guy with Buffalo Head. A white supremacist rat, which Willard names Sessions, becomes his best companion. Other rats emerge, including a bigger black specimen whom he names……(see above)”
Same Willard? Sounds eerily familiar. OMG —- there’s a remake arrrrrrgggggghhhh…..Bill Mahr was right, first they come with van-like incompetence, then they bring in the planes……
You don’t know what a racist is you moron. That’s a great definition for someone who only wants our laws to mean something. And it’s your crowd who teaches blacks that they are too damned stupid to have picture ID to vote.
I don’t have clue what you mean beyond your childish name calling. A five year old could grasp that. Definition? It’s your words. Laws mean something? My crowd? Picture id to vote? Bwhaaat? You on the right thread?
