UFC 200 – the Best Ever. Here is What We Predict!
UFC 200 is coming up this Saturday with perhaps the best lineup ever. Here is the line up and who we believe will win the featured matches.
Cormier vs. Jones – I’m a huge fan of Cormier, the man perhaps doesn’t have the physique of some other fighters in his weight class but he seems to whip up on every fighter he meets. On the other hand, Jones who has been said to be the best pound for pound fighter in MMA history, could be fighting off some ring rust after many personal issues and a suspension from the UFC. His first fight back in April was a convincing win over Ovince Saint Preux, but OSP is no Daniel Cormier. Our prediction? We are rooting for Cormier but predict Jones will win in a decision.
Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt – This should be a fantastic show, Lesnar with rippling muscles versus a stoic Mark Hunt. I’ve been a Mark Hunt fan for a while, and his hands of stone are amazing. If this goes to the ground Lesnar has a huge advantage as a former NCAA champion, stand up should be all Hunt. Will age be a factor? Hunt is 42, perhaps a bit past his prime, Lesnar is 38. Our prediction? Lesnar has proven to be a choke artist. Mark Hunt will be the victor.
Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes – Current Women’s 135lb Champ Meisha Tate lost to Ronda Rousey, who lost to Holly Holm. Meisha promptly took the belt back from Holly. I’m sure Amanda Nunes is a tough cookie, but to us it seems Meisha Tate can beat anyone except Ronda Rousey. We predict a Meisha Tate victory.
Jose Aldo vs Frankie Edgar – Two giant competitors in the featherweight division (no pun intended) these guys are both legends. Jose Aldo had not lost a fight since 2005, and then was beaten seemingly easily by Coner MacGregor. Frankie Edgar seems to think this will have taken all of the fight out of Aldo. We doubt it. Edgar, the former lightweight champion, lost to Aldo in 2013 in a decision, but since thne Edgar has taken on some of the best in the UFC and beaten them. Our prediction? This will be an exciting fight, Edgar will come out on top.
Cain Velasquez vs Travis Brown – These are huge guys who are always exciting to watch. Velasquez, the former heavyweight champ, is coming off of a loss to current champ Fabricio Verdum. Brown is coming off a win over Matt Mitrione and desparately needs to win this fight to establish himself in the UFC and perhaps set up a championship fight. Our prediction? Brown is a great fighter but he hasn’t had the caliber of competition that Velasquez has had. His determination won’t be enough, Velasquez will be the victor.
