Leftwing media is censoring RFK, Jr.

Leftwing media is censoring RFK, Jr.

Imagine a candidate enters the presidential race with the most famous political name in modern American history – the nephew of an assassinated President, the son of an assassinated senator and the nephew of a powerful Senate icon. Imagine that the candidate is married to a prominent television star. Imagine that such a candidate is challenging the incumbent President of the United States of America.  AND imagine that he is getting up to a quarter of the vote in early polls – and actually defeating the incumbent President among some demographic groups.  Wouldn’t that be BIG political news?   Not if you are Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

There can be no mistake about it.  The major news outlets – especially those on the left – are ignoring the Kennedy candidacy.  The bosses at the networks and in the editorial boardrooms have made a conscious decision to literally censor Kennedy as a means of propping up a floundering President Biden.  They are afraid that Kennedy could get serious traction if the people outside the New York City media bubble knew more about him.  There can be no other reason for the lack of coverage.

According to polls, Kennedy is already a threat to Biden despite the news blackout.  You see the facts in the recent New York Times/Siena College Poll.  While most outlets reported on the Poll’s troublesome numbers in the contest between Biden and President Trump, they failed to report on the Kennedy portion of the Poll.

So, here they are.

In a match up between Biden, Trump and a third unspecified candidate, Trump tops Biden by 48 to 44 percent, not much interest in the nameless so-called generic candidate.  But add RFK, Jr.’s name to the poll and Biden and Trump wind up in the mid-30 percentiles with Kennedy in the mid-20s.

The Kennedy impact is even greater with Gen Z and Independents.  Kennedy actually beats both Biden and Trump with those voters.  Among the 24- to 29-year-olds, it is Kennedy at 34 percent, Biden at 30 percent and Trump at 29 percent.  With the 30- to 44-year-olds, Kennedy takes 31 percent to 30 percent for both Biden and Trump.

Among independent voters, the Poll shows Kennedy convincingly ahead of the two Presidents.  He takes 39 percent of the vote to Biden’s 29 percent and Trump’s 25 percent.

This does not mean that Kennedy will be the 47th President of the United States.   He will not be appearing on the ballot in a number of states.  It will be tough for him to secure many Electoral College votes.

But … Kennedy is a very serious candidate who can have a huge impact on the 2024 presidential election.  That is what scares team Biden – and to a lesser degree team Trump.  There has been speculation as to who Kennedy might hurt more.  It appears from the polling that he would take from both Biden and Trump in states where he is on the ballot.

That is a very real consideration when it comes to the battleground states.  In Arizona, the Poll puts Trump and Biden at 33 percent each and Kennedy at 26 percent.  In Georgia it is Trump at 36 percent, Biden at 26 percent, just 2 points ahead of Kennedy at 24 percent.  In Michigan, Trump takes 34 percent to Biden’s 31 percent and Kennedy’s 26 percent.   Nevada goes to Trump at 38 percent, with Biden at 31 percent and Kennedy at 23 percent.  In Pennsylvania, it is Trump and Biden at 35 percent each and Kennedy at 23 percent.  In Wisconsin Biden tops Trump 37 to 35 percent, with Kennedy at 22 percent.

Kennedy does not get winning numbers, but he does get a big slice of the voter pie chart – enough to make him a major player.  But not to the Biden-leaning media.  They are treating him like some single digit also-ran.

Consider this.  Kennedy is doing WAY better against Biden than Trump’s challengers are doing in the GOP primaries – and they are getting a LOT of attention.

Oh … and about that television star wife?  Kennedy is married to actress Cheryl Hines, who plays the wife of Larry David in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” – one of the funniest shows on the small tube, unless you count the current presidential election contests.

So, there ‘tis.

Larry-Consider this (though I know you rarely consider alternative viewpoints). RFK is polling well because of his famous name, and his father and uncle were pretty well regarded by the politically savvy. If the media gives him more attention, more people will understand how nutty he is and his poll numbers would be likely to drop. Certainly that is not a possibility you have considered, because you love to denigrate the media at every turn….

Mike f … So you are suggesting that the media is not covering Kennedy in order to help him. LMAO. Come on, man, You say funnier things than Frank when you are trying to be serious.

      • frank stetson

You know, a guy who freely put’s that ghoulish picture online to be slamming Mike and Tom by using me is ironic.

Childish mostly though. Grow up old man.

        • larry Horist

Frank Stetson … Are you saying my pic is “ghoulish.” And this from a guy who mercifully does not post his pic. LMAO. If you will excuse me, I have to go and attend to a different turkey.

I dunno Larry. There may be something to what Mikef is saying. If I am reading him correctly, I think he is saying that the folks in the Dem party, and in the media, that do not want Joe Biden to run again might be shielding RFK from the media in an effort to keep his poll numbers up where they are, which might be able to be used against Biden in the future in an effort to convince him not to run. Whether it is to help RFK or to serve some other agenda is yet to be determined. The other possibility is that maybe the media and some in the Dem party do not want RFK’s numbers to increase and feel that RFK’s numbers would increase if they gave him more coverage than at current. And then there could be other reasons for his censure such as being in the top job in the country and being able to declassify all of the files associated with JFK’s assassination. In other words, there may be multiple agendas that all come together to ensure RFK does not run and so they do not want RFK to be better known. It may or may not be about protecting RFK.

So I think Mike f has a valid point worthy of discussion.

      • Mike f

Disgusting as always Larry. My suggestion (if you could read) was that once people get to know RFK, they will realize he is nuts, so they are actually helping him, even if not their intention. But you are certainly too ignorant to consider that…

        • larry Horist

Mike f … Thanks for you usual low-class and childish insults on this Thanksgiving day. Your ugly ignorance never takes a day off … eh? LOL AND you already posted this opinion above. I assume your seeming inability to retain a thought is age related. When you consider your usual uninformed but nasty tirads, it makes sense. You can read (I assume) my response to your initial posting. Looks to me like your wagon is losing a wheel.

Williamson, Uygur, and Phillips are other Democratic candidates for 2024 Presidential that Alice and other media types don’t cover.

West and Stein join Kennedy for Indy’s that Alice does not cover, nor the media.

Williamson is at around 8%, Phillips at 5% and Uygur does not exist in the Democratic primary polling. Kennedy dropped out, but that was covered :>)

I can’t tell how or who is in the lead in Indy land, but West and Kennedy pull from both Trump and Biden.

Who cares – they could be spoilers, but they will never be winners. They are less newsworthy than the entire Republican field, sans Trump. And Trump is not covered fully because he lies and they tire of the fact checking.

Kennedy’s only chance is as a spoiler, a weak non newsworthy one at that, but even that’s a question since he is mostly being funded by Trumplicants. Not sure whether they are believers or hoping to steal votes from Biden.

They rarely covered Spanky the Clown in Chicago either until he whipped the horse.

All the Kennedy name does is it will get you to notice him.
From there he is under that persons spot lite.
Now it is up to him to keep your attention.
AND HE IS KEEPING THE PEOPLES ATTENTION.
His platforms are solid and very right leaning.
If Kennedy is growing in the poles it has nothing to do with his wife.
It is because Democrat’s who KNOW Biden is a joke but do not want to vote for Trump, the guy they spent time crapping on 3 years ago at the poles and now know Trump was right.
Now they can vote Kennedy and save face, albeit, cowards and fools!

You have some good points Larry. Good commentary. The media not covering RFK could help or hurt him. We will have to wait and see. It is about a year until elections. Plenty of time for RFK to gain popularity among voters in both parties. I think he is already popular among the Independent/Unaffiliated voters.

Personally, I am glad RFK is running. Its the hallmark of our democracy. I often feel that the two parties (DEM + GOP) have designed the institution so as to form an almost monopoly where we all have to do what their party leaders want us to do.

Tom … It appears that Mike f, you and I agree on at least one thing — that the media manipulates the news for political purposes. They are not functioning as journalists — and that is a huge problem in Republic. And no. Knowing the left-leaning media, I think it is absurd to believe that they are manipulating the news to help RFK, Jr. –especially when you consider how they rip him apart on those few occasions they do mention him. I think the simplest explanation is the real one. They do not want him to get more traction than he is.

      • Mike f

Of course faux news (and the rest of the conservative news media) manipulates the stories in the news far more than mainstream media-or did you not realize that Larry (too ignorant???)

      • Tom

Yes Larry, your simplest theory is certainly a valid one. I have not been listening to left wing media so you are probably more informed than I am on this.

  5. Frank stetson

Or perhaps RFK is as newsworthy as a gnat. Covering crazy only goes so far. That’s why Trump coverage is down; the fact checking overhead is just too costly.

Fox does about one a week on RFK and the angle is always look what this does to Biden. Like RFK news with a twist. A twist of the knife with Joe. And he’s not even in the Dem primary. Likewise, anyone but Trump in the gop gets pretty low coverage perhaps because not relevant either.

There’s like two other independents not covered and Horist does not recognize them, just RFK. There’s also a gaggle of other gop not mentioned either. At all. By Fox even.

The simplest answer is the news is a business, they run stories that increase viewers so they can garner the highest ad rates. Most lean left but are not politically manipulative.

I would say the same is true for the blogosphere and even pbp. Just the other way. Fox wouldn’t have lied if the public wouldn’t pay for it with ratings. Alex Jones too. However, the Dumpster is just a hack.

And yes Mr Horist, I am not photogenic. Only a handful of snaps even exist for me. A good friend got picked up in the 60’s for spraying a white star red on a tank. He had long flaming red hair and the cop pictures nailed him. He was five years my senior so I stopped pretty young. Sure made my transition to corporate America easier.
