Yes, ChatGPT has a severe liberal bias

I tried out ChatGPT for the first time.

It is quite impressive, I asked it to synthesize an article from three links, and it did a decent job. I asked it to translate a Renaissance poem into modern English. It did it. I was really amazed at the power exhibited from this technology.

But it has a sharp liberal bias just like everything else coming out of Big Tech at the moment. In my friend George’s words “it’s programmed to be a Marxist.”

As an experiment. I sent the same request to gather information about Joe Biden on PBP versus Politico. We at PBP certainly admit (and state it on the site) that PBP leans conservative.

But ChatGPT doesn’t seem to realize how left leaning Politico is. “Objective and accurate reporting”? Yes, that is what ChatGPT’s masters in California might think. Anyone who reads their headlines daily, like I do, should know better. (By the way, ChatGPT cited the proven fake Russian investigation as a shining example of unbiased political reporting – and later admitted that it had information that Politico might possibly have left leaning bias.)

Note the interesting summary for the PBP extraction: “The website also frequently publishes articles that are critical of Biden and his administration, particularly on issues related to immigration and national security.”

Running the same query on ChatGPT about Trump in Politco, one would think that it might have the same comment. But it doesn’t. Instead is says “Trump has also continued to promote false claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Joe Biden.” Interesting judgement there buddy, I though you said you had no biases and didn’t have the ability to fact check.

And this is the scary part of such powerful technology – the built in biases put there by its creators.

As this makes its way into schools (and it will) our children will be subject to more and more politically biased thinking – all the while being told it is “objective.” Another tool of the liberal left.

I guess we only get “truth” from this unless the truth happens to coincide with the beliefs of its liberal creators.

Joe, you said about ChatGPT, “…. Instead is says “Trump has also continued to promote false claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Joe Biden.” Interesting judgement there buddy, I though you said you had no biases and didn’t have the ability to fact check.”

Seems to me that the program is working fine and its you that refuses to accept an outcome that even Trump’s DOJ verified as no fraud. AI definitely sounds more intelligent than you! LOL Sounds like ChatGPT tells the truth much more than you do, and, that you are the one with the flawed programming. Even your favorite station, FOX payed out 786 million dollars because they thought like you, and broadcast it just like you try to.

Tom, this article isn’t for you. In fact I would expect a comment like this, because a) you don’t keep up with issues and therefore have no idea of current events b) your bias is such that you think Marx was a great philosopher and c) you are starved for attention so that you will comment on anything that comes along.

      Just move on…

      • Tom

Actually Joe, I keep very up on many issues. I was in electronic with degrees long before you were born. Remember mag bubbles? Probably not. I was involved with some of the most technical projects that ever existed. I have probably forgotten more about electronics and the evolution of cyber capabilities than you have ever known.

Your commentary actually is quite revealing of your bias and how much you crave attention from the deplorable far right, yet you still write like a sixth grader. And as a military veteran I have earned the right to my opinions even if your opinion does not agree. I feel pretty confident that you have a whole library of fascist philosophers and you play with your Trump dolls every night. I will admit your third point when you say, “…you will comment on anything that comes along.” Yes, I do occasionally slum it and read your garbage. Your low readership is evidence of your ineptitude to write interesting posts. Without Frank and I you would only have one comment from Mike f total, and that comment also rebukes you.

I do hope that you have another job because you surely are not making it as a PBP thought leader!

        • Joe Gilbertson

There is no such thing as “mag bubbles” except in your mind, but I did use bubble memory at some point. And I’ve worked with tech you can’t even imagine.

You criticize PBP and yet you follow it every day and hang on each word. PBP lives inside your skull, rent free.

And there are indeed fascist philosophers on my bookshelf, along with the socialist ones, the foundational ones, and even the modern liberal crap that passes for philosophy but really isn’t. I even have Hillary’s and Barack’s favorite book, Rules for Radicals.

            What is that engineering specialty?

If you whip out your engineering degree, at least have the balls to complete your boast

Joe, So who did you write this article for? From the words at the initial part of the article, the reader is led to believe that you found some “aha” moment where big bad tech is again misrepresenting the conservative viewpoint. But then, for those of us that bothered to read your article, you posted examples of “liberal bias”. Instead, the reader saw straight forward accurate descriptions of Biden and trump-no bias at all. Of course if you were expecting them to provide the lies about trump that were bantered around on faux news, then you would be disappointed…

    • Joe Gilbertson

It is for people who are capable of thinking and who actually keep up with the news. You can you put yourself in Frank’s category, this article is not for you.

If you are delighting in the bias of this AI app, then you have missed the point completely. Have a look at this article, see if it put things in focus for you (not getting my hopes up…). http://anticommunist.zone/china-adds-chatgpt-style-bots-to-its-propaganda-apparatus-all-must-fall-in-line-with-communist-core-values/

      • Mike f

Joe, My comments were based on what you wrote, and what you submitted as “liberal bias”. Your proof of liberal bias is nonexistent as the statements you provided as proof were completely accurate . And adding an article telling me “to look over here” regarding something that is happening in communist China does absolutely nothing to prove your contention. Try again-you receive a failing grade on your thesis and ‘proof’…(BTW-it appears that none of your ‘targeted’ audience bothered to read your post, only the readers that can think…)

        • Joe Gilbertson

I don’t expect you to have the objectivity to read the article and understand. You are a victim of the liberal media, thinking that woke principles are fine, sex changes for children are fine and Marx wasn’t such a bad guy.

If you think the China article was not relevant, then either you didn’t read it, or you don’t understand the point. Probably both.

And it is just adorable that you think you are qualified to grade my articles.

          • frank stetson

China clamping down on media and messaging: what’s new? They ain’t talking removing the liberal, they are talking removing anything that offends the CCP. Plus they are talking about the fear that China will monitor the questions in order to suppress opposition. Gee, what’s new in that? Sounds like BAU.

You yourself seem a little offended by the self-imagined “liberalization” of AI, so you say, so what’s different?

Given the nature of the thing, I can’t wait to see the “test.”

But sure not sure what this link offers the conversation?

          • Joe Gilbertson

“what’s so different?” Frank you are so dense. They corrupting and controlling a powerful technology to control their population.

Put the bottle down, go on the wagon for a while.

    Joe,
    What was that engineering specialty?

    Civil?
    Mechanical?
    Agricultural?

    • Tom

Most likely animal husbandry. I hear he likes sheep.

      • Joe Gilbertson

        Sheep are nice…

  4. Mike f

Obvious that none of Joe’s “intended audience” read his article. But is a fairly typical article (and responses) a lot of hand waving and zero facts to back up his contentions. Next…

  1. Joe Gilbertson: where are you going with these threats? My free speech is facing intimidation, sometimes physical threats. Is this…
