It is time to take out Putin
In recent news reports, Russian Madman Vladimir Putin has been described as THE most dangerous man in the world. In one case he was said to be the most dangerous man in the history of the world. That may seem hyperbolic, but when you consider that he could ignite an international nuclear holocaust, that may not be a bridge too far.
If the United Nations could authorize a military invasion to take out a pipsqueak despot like Saddam Hussein in Iraq for invading Kuwait, the civilized nations of the world have every right to see regime change in Russia as an option.
Putin has already invaded a sovereign democratic state. He has already committed war crimes. He is already threatening another head of state. And it is not unreasonable that he would go further west in the future – NATO notwithstanding.
The last guy to act like Putin was Adolph Hitler – and he did not have nuclear weapons. Not only did the civilized democratic world mount a worldwide war to take him out – as well as the “little Hitlers” in Italy and Japan – but even his own military and aides tried to kill him on more than one occasion.
I know that taking out Putin is difficult, complicated and risky, but, on balance, allowing him to stay in power is arguably even more risky.
Unlike the situation in Iraq, invading Russia to get to Putin is not a viable option. Having the generals and the political staff around Putin convincing him to step down is not conceivable at this point – although there we should mount a pressure campaign for them to act. One point of pressure is to put those around Putin who do not act on the hit list if they do not act.
So, what is left? Yep! He would most likely have to be killed.
There are only a couple of options in that case. As noted, a group within the Kremlin would see him like the Mafia sees a fellow mobster as a problem – creating a problem for all the other mobsters in the Kremlin. We have seen that movie before – literally and figuratively.
The other option is an assassination from outside. That is not going to come from any resolution by the UN – or any overt actions by NATO. They are underperformers in maintaining world peace and keeping the despots at bay.
It would most likely come from key nations working surreptitiously – much like Russia used Bulgaria in the attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II. Or perhaps a special unit of the Ukraine intelligence services. Or maybe it would come from the opposition forces within Russia. Or maybe those Russian generals who have not lost their courage or their souls.
Of course, Putin would be a more difficult problem. He likely knows that there are a LOT of world leaders and people around him who would like to see him dead – as it seems would the vast majority of the world population. That is not paranoia. If world karma alone could kill him, they would already be planning Putin’s state funeral.
But Putin has made himself the prisoner of the Kremlin. He cannot go out in public – even with a contingent of security agents. He cannot cut any ribbons at factory openings. He cannot stand on the traditional Kremlin parapet where Russian leaders watch those military parades. He most certainly cannot leave Russia – unless it is in a quick secret trip to Belarus.
In a sense, Putin is on the world’s most-wanted posters – dead or alive. Preferably dead.
It is not something world leaders talk about – knocking off another head of state. It is done in utmost secrecy. We can only hope that those with reason to take out Putin – which is virtually every nation on earth — are busy behind the curtain of secrecy looking for that opening — that weak spot in his security bubble. It may not seem likely in the short run, but we can always hope.
So, there ‘tis.
What will we do if the assassination of Mr. Putin kicks off a nuclear war? There is no information coming out of Russia via official channels indicating that any of their other leaders plan or want to kill Mr. Putin, and my contacts in Russia agree with that assessment. It is very possible that many in Russian government agree with the plan to move into undeclared territories once held by the Ukraine and will be very upset if an assassination takes place. Whomever replaces Mr. Putin, should he be killed, may well see the US as weak and ineffective, and decide that now is the time for Russia to rise to real power again.
Putin “HATES” thinks He is the only one and the Best, “EGO” before Brain!! why would anyone want a World War??
Time to review a copy of Machiavelli’s “The Prince”.
Can’t we just send Joe G over? He’s already been in 30 countries., can he handle one more?
Since a pussy like you wouldn’t go. Why not? And put antifa on the front lines. They claim to be against facism.
Why not send the January patriots to stop Putin’s cheating. Then, follow up with Trump to fix the infrastructure and help with healthcare..
Great idea We were heading in that direction before the election was stolen by commie bastards
Nah, you can’t prove it. That’s why it’s called The BIG Lie.
Its been proven over and over, and over and over, and over and over. And yet somehow you don’t see it.
Yes, and they all went to jail.
How tight is your tin foul hat.
Broad cheating in the 2020 election has never been proved. It has been disapproved in over 60 court cases. It has been disapproved in over half a dozen recounts. It has been disapproved by officials on both sides of the aisle.
You continue to say it’s been proved over and over again and have yet to provide anything beyond a generalize link to a new source funded by the Chinese. That’s your evidence.
You must like being called a liar. You beg for it over and over again. Here’s one more chance: show us a link that leads to actual evidence. Not a link to a link, not a link to a bibliography, but a link to a source that leads to actual evidence.
I’ve been to Russia before. If I went there now, I’d be arrested at the border
Hey Benny boy. I don’t think you realize that cheating was proven. The courts refused to act. I suppose that they didn’t want to end up like justice Scalia. When he was murdered the local medical examiner didn’t even show up. Just talked to a guy by phone that wasn’t even close to being an expert. A federal marshal who was supposed to be protecting Scalia. Oh I almost forgot. Where’s the talk about Russian collusion? Hillary Clinton and her frame job blew up in her ugly face. Aren’t you glad that republicans were not allowed to oversee the vote counting in key states in violation of election laws? But that’s ok with you Marxist bastards. But I do blame the republicans for not kicking asses and coming on in. The tree of liberty might have to be watered next time. Don’t doubt me. So keep on being a good communist and spread the bullshit. We are ready.
Yeah, we are ready. Water the tree. Courts afraid. Scalia murdered. Italian satellites did it. Jfk jr coming back. Hillary did it. Trump still President. Dems are commies. And mRxists. And bastards. Joe has the proof. Courts won’t do the right thing. Dems are racists. Larry hasxthe proof. Who needs proof. Everyone knows it. .
The CIA is proscribed from doing “assassinations,” not for any moral reason like killing people is wrong, but for a very practical reason. Whenever you kill the leader of a country, you create a vacuum that is filled by the meanest, least principled bastard that is close enough to take the position.
In this case, Putin may be the worst possible, and an exception may be granted. But assassinations from outside (see CIA/Cuban scenarios) are exceedingly difficult with Putin’s level of security and as Rat Wrangler mentioned, if we do a bad job (and what other kind of job would the Biden Administration do?), it could kick off a war that could readily turn nuclear.
In my opinion, if there is going to be an assassination it has to come from inside of the Russian government. And if we are to support such a move, we need to make sure that the person stepping in is the right person.
And of course, Putin knows all of this already. He may already be planning to take out anyone in that sphere who has the least amount of influence and capability to do this.
It may happen, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Joel is the big lie. Why would we ever believed it was even in the CIA.
You are correct, I was never in the CIA. I just make stuff up about it.
Send in The Equalizer!!!! OR John Wick!!! OR both!!!! LM@O!!!!
But which Equalizer; Denzel or the Queen?
Most in the world population who are informed correctly about the situation wish the conflict would end with Ukraine remaking a sovereign democracy. But taking out Putin by assassination is not the answer. It’s a pipe dream to end all.
The past as teacher has a lesson for us today. As you remember, WWI was ignited by an assassination of the Arch Duke. It tends to rile folks up to seek revenge and snowballs into major nations in conflict. That war did not actually solve or resolve issues at play in the region. It produced the worst autocratic dictator madman in history previous to Putin.
If Putin was removed from the equation it leaves more unknowns , probably larger necessitating involvement of our troops.
Thinking about the 20 years spent in Afghanistan, would the US and NATO nations have the stomach for a greater investment in soldiers’ lives, heavy weaponry short of nuclear, budget finances, concentrated attention on domestic issues, and flat out time commitment.
Among PBP’s responders community we see in microcosmic dimensions the American problem at present. We have freedoms being misused as misunderstood. General unawarenesses of more creative positive means to address differences in opinions. Creativity mean thoughtfulness and working ideas out before voicing them. That takes some mental-emotional energy before posting.
Offering one’s opinion in a constructive premeditated comment does not ordinarily come naturally and knee jerk reflexive dashed off responses are basic nature. Particularly if the topic ignites passion or hit an already sensitized nerve. The later becomes intensified as other responder’s comments illicit feelings in opposition.
Again, we see calm and orderly are the adults and they apparently have left the room. Those remaining and left to their own in the room choose how they conduct themselves. Ether, resolve to move forward with thoughtful maturity or allow a disintegration of respect and valuing of others in insults and belittling statements. No one comes out the winner when decorum disintegrates
OK people, be constructive seeking to inform and not vent. Exercise your First Amendment right wisely and to good effect. The only thing you will loose is personal credibility and standing in the discussion . If that is how these interactions may be referred to, even loosely.
