Afghan evacuation is a failure within a tragedy
In the midst of one of the most tragic and unnecessary foreign policy disasters in American history, the Biden administration is “bragging” about the number of people who are being airlifted out of the new Taliban terrorist nation. Certainly, it is a credit to the hardworking folks on the small ground at the Kabul airport. They are doing the best they can in view of the impossible task given to them by President Biden.
In the past week or so, the White House brags about the 70,000 people removed from Afghanistan since August 13. By the time you read this there will likely be a few thousand more. If you accept the White House count, that is an average of approximately 6,700 people per day. At the peak, the White House boasted about taking out 19,000 people in 24 hours.
Hmmmmm. The Atlanta, Georgia airport processes 300,000 people PER DAY. It is obvious that the United States had not deployed sufficient resources – human and equipment – to accomplish the alleged mission of the White House – the evacuation of EVERY American wanting to leave and EVERY individual and family of those who worked with America.
Biden knows that there will be thousands left behind despite his empty promises. Undoubtedly, he will claim a victory of sorts on August 31st, when the last American soldier will board the last military plane – completing the surrender of America to the Taliban.
Biden repeatedly stated that he would consider extending the departure deadline if the job was not completed. But, when the Taliban said no to any extension. And what did Biden do? He folded … again – making it sound as if his goals will be met by August 31st.
Biden must surely know that it is impossible to get out every American and even a majority of the Afghans who worked with American troops. He will withdraw the troops and leave behind tens of thousands of endangered Afghans – and an unknown number of Americans who could not get to Kabul, including men, women and children.
The Biden administration claims they have no idea how many Americans were in Afghanistan at the time he pulled the plug. That say it is because some Americans may not have registered with the U.S. embassy when they arrived or informed the embassy when the left.
Sounds good, but they damn well know which Americans are stranded in Afghanistan based on the visas. When a person goes to a foreign nation, they obtain a visa that is stamped upon their arrival in that nation. Their passport is also tracked when they depart. If the American State Department cannot know the number in Afghanistan, they are either incompetent or lying.
There is another lie in the Biden playbook. It is about vetting. There is no way in hell that all the Afghans travelling out of Kabul can be fully vetted. Many of the records are no longer accessible. Even many of our most loyal Afghan partners will not have adequate paperwork.
As a person in favor of taking in refugees legally – and a proponent of proper vetting WHERE POSSIBLE – I to believe that we will have to deal with ALL those we evacuated as if they are legitimate or not – including those who will eventually arrive in the United States. We must do the best vetting we can given the situation Biden created for America.
Make no mistake about it. The decision to pull out in this way was an unmitigated disaster. It created the ongoing tragedy at Kabul airport – and a tragedy that will be seen in every part of Afghanistan for months and years to come. Yielding to the Taliban at every turn – even as the United States was supposed to be in serious and constant negotiations – has resulted in a failed recuse mission of unimaginable proportions.
We can be thankful for those we saved, but ever mindful of those we left behind. Biden’s Americas does not keep its promises. Keep in mind Biden’s words. The Taliban will not take over Afghanistan. The Taliban will allow people to leave. America will leave nobody behind. Biden assured us that the Taliban would engage in no retribution against those who fought with the allies. We will stay beyond August 31st if that is what it requires to rescue Americans and our friends.
America has not only been defeated in yet another war, but the nation has now been humiliated. America has lost both moral authority and military leadership across the globe. Because of Biden’s inept decision, America has lost the trust of allies. America has emboldened its enemies. August 31st will be a day of infamy for the United States. Thanks Joe.
So, there ‘tis.
It isn’t any big surprise what a loser Biden is; anybody with half a brain saw that one going in. Who to blame are the crooks and thieves at every level, who let him in through the Stolen Election – starting with SCOTUS’ John Roberts, and down to the last crooked Dem thug who f*d with our votes, knowing he/she would not only not be called out, but rewarded. And don’t give us your standard issue crap that you don’t think the election was wholesale stolen; anybody taught statistics can see on the numbers alone what an outlandish improbability it was that J.B. the PINO got so many votes after hours, against the numbers Trump was running during the light of day.
I suppose it would have gone much smoother if trump hadn’t released 5,000 Taliban prisoners ( including their leader) prior to our departure
I also think it is also important to note that the state department has been warning for months that Americans and their Allies should get out sooner rather than later.
EVERYONE, thanks to trumps negotiations, including the Taliban knew the date, it’s like the vaccine, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make em drink. As trump said, the Taliban are good fighters and EXCELLENT negotiators.
Larry,
Moral Authority? America hasn’t been the moral authority since the atomic bomb was unnecessarily dropped on Japan. Not since we agent oranged Vietnam. Not since trump abandoned the Kurds.
Maybe more Afghans would already be in America if trump hadn’t made it impossible for them to come here. At the barber shop this morning ( total MAGAt republicans, both prior military, it’s a long story) they were saying fuck them Afghans, they shoulda known better than to help us.
20 Fucking years of war and we couldn’t get it right. What’s the solution? Another 20 years?
Larry, Ive been irritated with some of your past partisan hit jobs, but this takes the cake. 20 fucking years! Your buddy Rumsfeld got your grandson killed so he could make a little bit more money, and now that Biden is following trumps negotiated surrender plan, you want to lay it all on Biden?
Goddamn that’s some bullshit. There’s no flag waving or ticker tape parade for trump’s surrender. Cut our losses and be done with that godforsaken hell on earth.
In the meantime, for once in your life, provide some nuance to your partisan hit jobs. Tell your readers that for 20 fucking years the US has been bogged down in a foreign policy and military boondoggle, largely because there was no plan to begin with. Bin Laden wasn’t in Country and it was mostly Suadis that carried out the attack. Bush and Rumsfeld couldn’t have left a bigger disaster in the making if they tried
Ben you’re like a broken record
Ben. You really seem to hate America? You even fault America for winning WW II. Also you reading skill are rather poor. I also criticized Trump for pulling out in a number of past commentaries. But it was Biden who pulled the trigger. He could have reversed Trump’s decision. So, why blame Trump for doing what Biden intended to do. And Biden did it badly. VERY badly. That is on him. The deaths of 12 marines and one sailor is on him … period. The way you write, I wonder is you are not just an aging Hippie — and most of them grew up.
Oh, Puh-leez… “you must really hate America” is the go-to insult of every right-winged nationalist group in the country. If you’re not self-aware enough to recognize the country’s mistakes, you’re not going to help fix them. Idiots who say that are the ones who go to demonstrations locked and loaded ready to start a fight because they can’t admit they’re wrong or anyone else could be right. Although, given your editorials, I can see how you fit into that non-self-aware category.
“The way you write, I wonder is you are not just an aging Hippie — and most of them grew up.”-Larry
Ah yes, the way I write, the guy that barely graduated high school being criticized by the Harvard lecturer in an incoherent sentence. Nice.
Save the insults old man, that game has long passed you by. Hippies? I haven’t heard that word in anything other than a historic documentary.
Now on to substance of my rebuttal. You were wrong about pulling out, 20 yrs of dead soldiers is enough, and you are wrong about why it isn’t going well. I’m not surprised, you are an old senile bastard that’s living in the heyday of history not questioning the old white guy. The jig is up.
The Taliban over ran Afghanistan after trump surrendered the Country to them by releasing 5,000 prisoners, including their leader. But to be fair, one Taliban member yelled at trump, what else was he to do?
Let’s start there.
Larry,
Trump bragged about how his “deal” w the Taliban could NOT be undone. “They will try, but they can’t undo this deal”.
Trump was right to end this tragic war, he was dead wrong to free Taliban prisoners before we were gone. Try putting this on Biden, but even your one track ass has to admit that Biden is just dealing with 20 years of fuckery.
Ben I see that you don’t want America protected. You should just get the hell out of the country. You probably got your ass kicked a lot growing up. It’s pussies like you that would be the downfall of America. I question your sanity after reading the crap that you post.
Wiley,
Please tell me how continuing a 20 yr war is keeping America safe? If it was keeping America safe, why did trump negotiate our surrender?
And for the record, I am not a pussy,, but I understand it’s easy for a keyboard warriors to call other people that.
I am working to make my Country great. The best way I can do that right now is vote, community activism, and try educating you sheep… or horses, what ever that dewormer is made for. I have no intention of leaving. Your kind is slowly ( or. It so slowly anymore) dying off. It’s only a matter of time.
Larry,
Save your vitriol, judging and beating on Biden for sins perpetrated by the former administrations soft negotiation strategy. Even inviting the leaders to Camp David on American soil was a recipe for disaster. That Trump pulled the invite was not his change of heart wisely. Other circumstances forced cancellation by Trump. And that the Taliban were kept out saved America.
Trump, on his watch, planned the exit happening months earlier. Had he been in charge how worse would been.
Biden could have started moving people out the day he took office and succeeded getting every American known to be in Afghanistan and all Afghans remotely associated with the American effort, you would conjure your usual so predictable diatribe.
It the same old song with you, it goes like this … If I was the King of the World ,,, what a difference I would bring. Happily, that will not ever be, nor the lesser role than King, POTUS.
Still, he who was POTUS before Biden, behaves as one forever POTUS.
Democratic Party could do everything to your desire and conservative bent. Republicans could go against all you hold dear. And, you and all other Republicans would keep loyalty to the Party. Wondering, does that define behavior typical for sheep.
The situation is dire in Afghanistan. And today it became worse. More American service people doing their jobs in that country died and were wounded. These souls following orders were attempting a very difficult evacuation in an extremely unsettled environment and operating under the gun time sensitive job. Even in the life or death, getting out or die by merciless Taliban retribution American time wasting red tape may be a death sentence for our allies among the Afghan people.
Given quality intelligence relative to Taliban strength vs. Afghan forces heart and will failing by the hour. Biden and those in charge would have intensified efforts. The intelligence organization is essentially Trump’s men, unreliable in Biden’s first months in office. The Biden Administration had no more than a loose-loose proposition going in. Best case came to be maximize moving people as many as possible as quickly as manageable. Evacuating every last soil who wanted to leave is the goal as forces leave at conflicts end. Biden is hamstrung and attempting honoring America’s commitments
Opinions to the contrary constitute shooting America in the feet. Hate Democrats speech may be a 1st Amendment right. Good judgement on its use is rare these days. You and FOX bend it and never look back.
Arthur your rant is as stupid as any I’ve ever read. Trump was going to use tactics to protect our people. But you can’t bring yourself to admit that your retard in chief has done nothing but throw shit in the game. Joe’s own party is turning on him. Looks like his token will be taking over. I am glad that a red wave is coming in the midterms. That bitch is as stupid as joe.
Yeah, Trump’s unconditional surrender to the Taliban was a pretty good tactic… How was it again that he was going to use that one?
And let’s say that the Trump had remained in office… how was his pullout by May 1st going to be any different than Biden’s on August 31st? He hadn’t started evacuating anyone as of February 20th. And the ISIS-K group is fighting the Taliban, they could have just as easily bombed back then as today. Who says the that the Afghan army was going to stay on under other circumstances? They started negotiating with the Taliban the minute that Trump surrendered. And Trump was well known for ignoring the advice of generals and diplomats in the field – what would he have done different? The most realistic example is Syria – just order everyone out over the weekend, and let civilians fend for themselves.
What Trump did, as usual, was set a disaster in motion. It was up to Biden to clean it up as best he could. Don’t forget, Biden got 110,000 (and counting) out of Afghanistan. How many did Trump get out of Syria?
Arthur … you have bought into political spin. I was critical of Trump’s decision to pull out. But that is another issue. There is one absolute truth. Biden was not obligated or locked-in on ANY decision or agreement made by Trump. All options were open to Biden. This fiasco/disaster/tragedy rests 100 percent on the shoulders of Biden. It was not Bush’s fault for entering into the war. It was not Obama’s fault for order the surge. It was not Clinton or Bush the Second. We can debate their decisions along the way, but this catastrophic and deadly withdrawal belongs to Biden. It was his decision, his plan and his legacy.
And for the record that you misrepresent. I follow my conservative philosophy … not the Republican Party. I criticized the Trump decision to pull out — other things he did. I have praised some of the good things that Clinton and Obama did. Can you say anything good about Trump… Republicans … or conservatives? Perhaps YOU are the kind of strident, narrow-minded and partisan you accuse others of being.
Arthur, you certainly must have excelled at creative writing. I have been critical of Trump’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan … as I have been critical of our longstanding no win policy. But this disaster of a surrender is on Biden. He was not bound by anything Trump did.
I suppose that Ben thinks that retard joe is doing a good job. Lol. Losers backing losers Hey Ben. Is it fun being stupid?
Why don’t you tell us Dan?
I’m stupid sometimes. We all are. And it’s fun
“In the midst of one of the most tragic and unnecessary foreign policy disasters in American history.” Pretty splendific exaggeration there Larry. First, unecessary…..eh, yeah, maybe, if you’re blaming Donald J. Trump who set it up.
“Hmmmmm. The Atlanta, Georgia airport processes 300,000 people PER DAY.” eh…yeah, and millions brush their teeth. And I can get 100,000 into a stadium in a few hours, so what. What does one thing have to do with the other. You have a military airport, not an airport. You have basically super-sensitive international travelers, not exactly domestic city hoppers, and you have a crush of thousands at the gate, not an orderly progression to the TSA checkpoint.
ISIS suicide bombed us, not the Taliban. The Taliban is at war with ISIS. It’s a tragedy, not sure how anything you could come up with could be done better.
“We must do the best vetting we can given the situation Biden created for America.” And how has that changed since the reign of Trump? I mean many of these folks would already have asylum if Trump had opened up the vetting and asylum rules for Afghans over a year before he slunk out of office.
Larry, you know I feel this is the right idea done the wrong way. There is no doubt IMO that it could be done better, that President Biden miscommunicated status and plans, that being a nice way of saying he lied. But “one of the most tragic….disasters…” Hardly, Larry.
And you have yet to offer how it could have been different to be better. You throw good stones, but have few better solutions except not to do this. How about you start with: “it was always going to end this way.” and tell us how it could have been different. Enough difference to remove the tragedy. Now that’s an editorial with teeth.
Frank ,, You must know that I have criticized Trump for the initial plan to withdraw, but he did not set up anything that Biden could not have reversed. This tragedy is on Biden … period. I say it is “ONE of the most tragic…” Pray tell, what do you see that was worst or on par with it? Also, Hamid Karzai Airport is a commercial airport with a military facility — as are many commercial airports. Biden gave the military airport to the Taliban early on. Before this fiasco, it was handling about 50,000 passengers PER DAY — about ten times the current level. Major American airports launch plans at about one per minute. Evacuation planes are departing at about 40 minute intervals. The facility could have easily handled more aircrafts. I rate that as a huge planning error — as was surrendering the military base. Biden’s plan gives “botched” a new level of meaning. He ordered the military a mission that it was impossible for them to fulfill.
Retard joe stood before the camera today and vowed to track the taliban down. Haaa haaa! I’m sure that they are shaking like queers at a hotdog roast
Dan, I usually don’t engage you, as you have nothing constructive to add. But in this case, you have the facts so fucked up, that I am compelled.
Biden vowed to track down the people responsible for the bombing, not track down the Taliban. Since Isis K ( or X as trump would have you believe) has claimed responsibility, there would be no reason to track down the Taliban.
I wouldn’t expect you to grasp the nuances of foreign policy though.
Now, Feel free to carry on your angry old racist white man tirades
Oh, come on now, Larry – you’ve constantly criticized Biden for reversing Trump’s decisions, and now you’ve changed your tune to criticize him for NOT reversing Trump’s decisions. Like it or not, Trump’s idiotic foreign policy decisions committed the US to a course of action. If Biden had tried to reverse Trump’s poorly negotiated and very one-sided surrender, we would be seeing daily attacks by the Taliban, not one-off attacks by a little ISIS splinter group who was attacking the Taliban as much as they were attacking the US. And the US still controls Kabul airport, but the collapse of the Afghan government allowed the Taliban to control access in and out of the airport. Do you think the Taliban would allow ANYONE in and out of the airport if not for the Americans there? Trump’s surrender and the timetable he committed the US to gave the Taliban the status they needed to start making side-deals with the Afghan government. which gave them complete unfettered control of the country.
Trump has also screwed the US with Iran, who now has a VASTLY larger stockpile of enriched uranium, and Biden will have to deal with that. And Syria is just… gone. Trump pulled out literally overnight, with no advanced warning. And now we’ve got to deal with Israel, who is led by yet another far right nationalist (at least Netanyahu is out and on his way to jail, like Trump). Biden has already laid the law down to Russia, and he’s repaired relationships with most of Europe. He still has to contend with a few nationalist dictators in places like Hungary and Brazil, and who knows what the fuck is going on with his lover in North Korea.
If you’re going to admit that Trump screwed up in Afghanistan, then it’s time to admit to all the other foriegn policy screw-ups that Biden has to fix.
Frank … I said it was “ONE of the most tragic and unnecessary policy disasters in American history.” Pray tell, what would think was worse — or even on par with that? And why do you say that the Atlanta airport numbers are not relevant? Hamid Karzai is not a military airport. It is a commercial airport with a military presence — much like many commercial airports. I recall that Atlanta and Chicago launch flights ever minute of so. The evacuation flights are leaving every 40 minutes at the peak departure rate — and now slower. I just had lunch with a CIA operative who left Kabul when the Taliban surrounded the embassy where he was located. He said there are 17 C-10 planes at the airport that are not in daily use — possible waiting for the last minute departure of the military and equipment. We could have been had full aircraft — and some are flying with empty seats — departing every 10 to 15 minutes. The vetting process is said to be a bottleneck even though Biden told us they would be vetted after they arrive in other nations. Biden’s plan — as such — gives a new meaning tot he word “botched.” His promises and explanations do not hold up any longer than the time he takes for him to walk away from the podium.
The alternative is obvious. Biden should have reversed Trump’s departure plan and sent in those 6000 troop he sent in anyway. He should not have abandoned the military base with its $4 billion dollars of sophisticated equipment. After lunch, I realize it was a worse decision than I even believed because we had allied operations and communications, CIA operations and other things besides soldiers and airplanes. We lost the ability to track the Taliban. It is very possible that the Taliban could not take Kabul with allied military presence. If they did attack us, we could then respond with maximum force — not from a position of weakness that Biden has left the US.
Our tuck-tail-and-run Biden Departure is what collapsed the moral and will of the Afghan military. Had we stayed it is reasonable to believe that they would have fought the Taliban. If you recall, when we were departing, Biden promised support in terms of air strikes. That never happened. Instead, he gave the Taliban their first air force.
The Biden plan has turned out to be a humiliatingly political, diplomatic, economic, military loss for America. Biden was into pure bullshit when he said our allies are happy with the US and our adversaries are unhappy. Quite the contrary. Our standing in the world has never ben lower since World War I. Yes, Trump began this disaster — and I was critical of him at the time and since — but his actions did not limit Biden’s actions in any way. He agreed with Trump. This was Biden’s decision 100 percent.
“sure that they are shaking like queers at a hotdog roast.” Where does this guy even find another human that considers this even remotely humorous. It makes no sense whatsoever. Think about it. He’s got queers, hotdogs, roasting, shaking. Why? Is this penis humor? Does Dan not have a penis? Wouldn’t he be shaking too? I just don’t get it, but I am sure Dan does. I mean Dan does have one, right? I do understand a good penis chuckle like:
What does Dan call a hot dog roll?
Hand.
What does Dan like to put on his hog dog?
Dan
Dan has it rough. Not saying he’s one of these, but his closest friends nuts, his backdoor neighbor’s an asshole and he regularly takes a beating.
Dan is really good at these debates. He’s the master. A master debater who posts everyday.
Really Dan, get some creativity, just a spark please.
That’s funny right there. I don’t care who you are But wait and see. Retard will cost us many American lives
Dan really likes jokes about gays and shit. He should start up a gay bar, I’d bet he’d really “pack ’em in”
If I start a queer bar drop in. Maybe someone will push in your “stool “
Oh, come on now, Larry – you’ve constantly criticized Biden for reversing Trump’s decisions, and now you’ve changed your tune to criticize him for NOT reversing Trump’s decisions. You said Biden will have to deal with Iran? You really are stupid. And all of this time I was hoping that it was an act. The cheating put a super dumbass in office and people like you are too ignorant to see it. I’m so glad that we have a movement of patriots that will refuse to be governed by the idiot
I have noticed that car insurance organizations know the automobiles which are at risk from accidents as well as other risks. Additionally, these people know what style of cars are inclined to higher risk as well as higher risk they’ve the higher the actual premium amount. Understanding the very simple basics connected with car insurance can help you choose the right kind of insurance policy which will take care of your requirements in case you become involved in any accident. Appreciate your sharing a ideas with your blog.
“The cheating put a super dumbass in office and people like you are too ignorant to see it. I’m so glad that we have a movement of patriots that will refuse to be governed by the idiot”
Your ragged right has proven no significant cheating, you are just wasting your and the taxpayer’s money. 60 cases, 5 states, all tossed, mostly for cheating by not having evidence. One lawyer can’t practice; nine more just sanctioned, fined, and must be “retrained.” They are returned to the State bars for further sanctions, disbarment, and punishments. AZ recount said give us 3 weeks and we will show you. Five months later they are asking for more time, more time. No recount has proven significant cheating. You delude yourself on your own propaganda fostered by Russian bots infecting your beloved ragged right blogosphere. The Big Lie is your truth. You live The Big Lie. Many of your “patriots” are going to jail including the latest Trump Capitol bomber. I am glad you’re glad, but you are living a lie and you can’t even see the facts in front of your face.
Money talks and bullshit walks. I know that you commiecrats ejaculate over Trump being out of the White House, I didn’t say lost, but our country is going to pay dearly. And yes, Trump was cheated.
Trump was cheated. Yeah, prove it. You can’t. All you got is name calling and hot air.
For once, prove something beyond your fascination with the penis. We get it, we know what you love.
Only the weak toss names instead of proof. You toss a lot of names including “commiecrats” which, like most of your spew, makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. And yet you love the Russian tough guys and other autocrats where most of the commies in the world still exist except now under a dictatorial oligarchy run by a guy that your guy, in 2013, said: “Do you think Putin will be going to The Miss Universe Pageant in November in Moscow – if so, will he become my new best friend?” You homophobes really need to just get a room, already. Enough with the teasing.
We all know about Don’s and your love fest with Putin, the nauseating quotes are everywhere. You call us commiecrats, but you want to bed down with the biggest commie of them all, born and bred in the KGB, murderer of thousands of free people, a guy who Trump summed up American Exceptionalism as: You think of the term as being fine, but all of sudden you say, what if you’re in Germany or Japan or any one of 100 different countries? You’re not going to like that term,” Trump told CNN. “It’s very insulting and Putin really put it to him (Obama) about that.” Nothing like pissing on American Exceptionalism to make a commie feel good. He’s who you are, a commie lover.
Of course, it goes beyond that. You folks crave White Supremacy so bad, you need your White Power to help you through your day, that you will buddy up to any autocrat favoring Nationalism over Human Rights or even the basic inalienable rights of man as you shower false accolades on racist autocrats and murderous dictators alike.
Trump said: “Kim Jong Un has been, really, somebody that I’ve gotten to know very well and respect, and hopefully – and I really believe that, over a period of time, a lot of tremendous things will happen” like Trump getting completely sandbagged as NK continues to expand their ballistic * “Kim Jong Un has been, really, somebody that I’ve gotten to know very well and respect, and hopefully – and I really believe that, over a period of time, a lot of tremendous things will happen” as NK significantly added to it’s nuclear ballistic missile programs.
For the Turkish Kurdish murderer, Trump said: “President Erdogan. He’s tough, but I get along with him. And maybe that’s a bad thing, but I think it’s a really good thing” as one opponent got over three years for calling him a name and human rights advocates mark Turkey as a living hell.
Now, to his credit, he does not like Iran’s leaders, but he let them expand their nuclear program too including allowing them to procure fissionable materials in bulk. That’s two countries Trump actively helped increase the worldwide nuclear threat.
As for the origin of the “China flu” Trump said: “And I like President Xi a lot. I consider him a friend, and – but I like him a lot. I’ve gotten to know him very well. He’s a strong gentleman, right? Anybody that – he’s a strong guy, tough guy.” Didn’t Larry of the Stooges say that: “Oh, a tough guy, eh”
Now, I can understand Trump’s and your fascination with strong men. We understand how you roll. But come on, give it a break. You can demean us by yelling commiecrat while respecting commies the world over as “strong men,” “tough guys,” “guys I respect.” That’s one hot dog that even you can’t swallow.
Eat shit Frankie. The commiecrats in the cheating states obstructed justice. But no, with the stonewalling going on we can’t prove it. But we know that it’s true. And You can’t prove white supremacy. So stfu you dumbass. Red wave is coming Want to talk about policy? Tell me what agenda of your party that you support. We might agree on some things
Larry says: “Pray tell, what do you see that was worst or on par with it? “ Didn’t you mean “prey tell?” I can’t imagine you talk like you write. Unless in old England :>)
What came to mind Larry, and I have to admit it seemed so much bigger back then was:
Fall of Saigon: pictures, helicopters, people hanging. Seemed pretty desperate to me in my memory, but might be getting morphed with the little naked kid screaming in anguish or the guy being executed in the street. So I looked. Turns out they cleared troops and many Americans over the year or so before the fall. By the fall, it really wasn’t an American issue, and that sort of proves your point. First, Trump failed to do that on his watch. But Biden too did the same failure on his watch so he should have moved the end date instead of announcing. I freaking would hate to think it’s a diversion from covid…. Nonetheless, in the end, the Embassy totaled 90,000 Vietnamese people over the years, all needing rescue. Maybe 25,000 made it. Maybe 30,000 died based on a list of CIA CIs and collaborators found in the embassy. Operation Frequent Wind supposed to get tens of thousands of our supporters out moved from fixed wing to helicopter transport due to attacks and got maybe 7,000 out because of this “plan.” Kissinger also at some point restricted the rest of the airlift to Americans only. Remember them scaling the embassy walls to clamber aboard a copter. It continued as the “boat people” tried to float on anything to escape for over a decade after we left. That’s what I was thinking Larry. And while, as noted above, agree this could be done better, should have been done better, I just don’t see it as the total shit show unknown in modern history that you do. Plus, let’s be fair. We are in a conflict. Time to rally or time to ask for resignation? Day of infamy: FDR must go!! Towers down: Send Bush home! Think some support today, condemnation after we get our folks home please.
But wait, on the “worst,” there’s more:
In April of 1975, we evacuated the Laotian Embassy leaving Cambodia, and our supporters, to the Khmer Rouge. I am not sure there was any evacuation except of our embassy folks and a few supporters. Probably only lost a few hundred Americans, but we don’t even think of it as an American withdrawal catastrophe. Why? Because it is typical upon retreat. We also didn’t even bother with many Cambodian supporters. The whole “war” was not assessed much except everyone died in pretty gruesome ways just to save bullets.
Even the Berlin Airlift, perhaps more a “vacuation” than evacuation was probably a raging success delivering sustenance for 11 months to half of the city of Berlin. One of my ancestor’s flew that mission and made it back. Twenty-five planes went down, 17 of them American. Over 30 of our guys died. Even good airlift outcome can have some pretty bad parts.
I can find more, yet I was really actually was comparing it to the fall of Vietnam where those final day were pretty grim at the embassy and for years, for refugee boat people. Larry, you know I feel this is the right idea done the wrong way. There is no doubt IMO that it could be done better, that President Biden miscommunicated status and plans, that being a nice way of saying he lied. But “one of the most tragic….disasters…” Hardly, Larry.” It is tragic, it should have been better but one of the most tragic….disasters….” in war, no. In US evacuations, not really. Tell you what: I’ll note your hyperbole as “half busted.” As am I.
But really, are folks pulling the trigger a little early on this resign or be impeached crap. What’s next, accusing Hunter of being a Taliban?
I wouldn’t be surprised if retard jr. was taliban. So many posts about the evils of Trump. So what do we have now? A senile old fool that’s the laughing stock on the world stage. And a token so called vp that only got 2% of the presidential vote during the primaries. That’s interesting. The non white candidates got booted quickly. And you people call us racist. As probably the most hated one on this site, I’m just fed up with the hypocrisy of the commiecrats.
Dan Tyree keep telling it like it is.
Yes, I meant “pray tell.” Not sure what “prey tell” means.
If you want to put the end of the Vietnam war on par with this, I can see your point, but I do not agree that it had the same results. We were being overrun at the time of our surrender in Vietnam, but in the case of Afghanistan, the Bide decision resulted in the Taliban overrunning the nation. That did not have to happen. And even is you count the war itself, Vietnam was about 10 to 12 years. Afghanistan was 20.
You also do not consider that ending the war in Vietnam ended the conflict. Ending the war in Afghanistan will lead to a continuation of terrorism against the west and US — enhancing the power of all terrorists. The US may have ended the war, but our enemies have not. Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta even predicts will we be going back into Afghanistan in the future.
I agree that the impeachment talk is excessive, but then the Dems have lowered the bar on impeachment. They were calling for it BEFORE Trump was inaugurated. They started the unprecedented resistance movement rather than getting behind a new President.
Not sure why you put the Berlin airlift in the category of foreign policy disasters. It was one of the successes.
I still say that Biden’s decision — opposed to virtually all the advice he got — was the worst foreign policy decision. Others examples you note were the result of unfortunate situations. This one — both the decision to turn Afghanistan over to the Taliban and the execution of that presidential order — put this one at the top of the heap.
Frank … I mean “pray tell.” Not sure where you get “prey tell.” Not sure why you put the Berlin airlift as a disaster. It was a great success. The others you note were the RESULTS of the situations that had evolved on the ground. Afghanistan takeover and deadly departure was the RESULT of a bad decision. I still see it as the worst presidential DECISION. Even worse than FDR turning back the ship of Jewish refugees and sending Japanese-Americans to concentration camps — although not those the Nazi’s ran.

“The commiecrats in the cheating states obstructed justice.” There are no commiecrats, there are few communists in America, like 10,000. But all racists vote for Trump. They fill his stadiums, unmasked, in Alabama, one of the worst surge States in America, believing in HIS truth, denying they are about to die for no reason.
You can’t prove this reality because it’s fantasy and you have no facts. All you got is some silly names, bad attitude, and useless diversions. The weaker you are, the more names you throw. Just pissing into the wind and wondering why you are all wet.
“But no, with the stonewalling going on we can’t prove it.” You can’t prove it because you are weak, feckless, OR because you are stupid and just can’t figure it out. You can’t even prove stonewalling. You have no facts, you blame the air, and you bay at the moon calling people who disagree, based on the FACTS, silly names. You huff, you puff, but the wall of facts just can’t be blown down. You lost. You are not losers though. Act like an American. Get up, get back to it, and try again. Although I would suggest that repeating the same stuff you’ve been doing might be the first sign of insanity; you may want to try a few adjustments.
“But we know that it’s true.” Yes, you do believe it’s true. And that’s the sad part, you just can’t believe the majority of the nation can’t live in your fantasy. Spoiler alert: it is really NOT true. That’s why your cases keep getting tossed: no evidence. That’s why your lawyers keep getting sanctioned: no evidence. The major cheat here is Donald John Trump and you are the ones being cheated. Cheated out of your money. Cheated out of your beliefs.
“And You can’t prove white supremacy.” And that supports YOUR arguments somehow? Is it the ole “well, if you can’t proved White Supremacy in America, then Donald J. Trump is President” theory? For the record, here’s a list of real life, major league white supremacist’s proving how stupid you are to believe there is no White Supremacy in America. I mean that’s just dumb. Plain out stupid dumb. Notable white separatists, on record as being White Supremacists are: Andrew Anglin Virginia Abernethy Fraser Anning Sabino Arana Gordon Lee Baum Louis Beam Don Black Richard Girnt Butler Thomas W. Chittum Harold Covington David Duke Mike Enoch Samuel T. Francis Nick Griffin Michael H. Hart Arthur Kemp Ben Klassen David Lane Robert Jay Mathews Tom Metzger Merlin Miller Revilo P. Oliver William Luther Pierce Richard B. Spencer Kevin Alfred Strom Jared Taylor Eugène Terre’ Blanche Andries Treurnicht John Tyndall Hendrik Frensch Verwoerd Varg Vikernes. These are the notable ones, that’s why your name is not here for example.
And here is a list of professed White Supremacist groups and different philosophies. Which one does Dan belong to?
Aryan Brotherhood Council of Conservative Citizens Ethnopluralism Eurocentrism Ku Klux Klan National-anarchism Neo-Confederate New Orleans Protocol Northwest Territorial Imperative
No White Supremacy movement in America? BUSTED.
You can’t prove what you believe because you believe in nothing that is true.
I didn’t say that white supremacy doesn’t exist in America. But they aren’t as many as in past years. But you idiots on the left like to throw that shit out there because attacks on people’s character and smearing people is how that you commiecrats roll. You said that there is about 10000 commies in America. You had better pull your head out of your ass. Your party is loaded with communism. Back to white supremacy. I’m damned sure superior to the members of antifa and the rest of the looters and burners. If anyone doesn’t like that they can kiss my white ass.
Who is rested jr? I can’t keep up with your blame names.
Mike Pence got 0% of the vote in the Primaries. Of course, Trump hates him now and his minions want to lynch him just to prove you are not racist, you’ll lynch anyone who upsets you.
Can you prove Joe Biden is a laughing stock on the world stage?
And who is the token? Maybe we need a name translator for your spews.
Hmm, the non white candidates got booted quickly. Interesting but not true. At least we didn’t give them COVID like you did. And I think the record is pretty clear on which party attracts and elects a more racially diverse slate of candidates.
Notice that the great republicans are recruiting more people of color. But they have been called traitors and Uncle Tom by commiecrats. I understand that the left is in damage control and very embarrassed by their weak leader. I would be ashamed too. The spin that you people throw out there is so damned funny that I forgot to laugh. If Ben, Frank and mike take a road trip they would be pulled over for doing 69 in a 55 zone. That’s funny right there. But I detect the desperation in their posts. You want to bitch about Trump and Afghanistan, why not Barack obozo? He had 8 years to fix the problem. And had a veto proof super majority for the first 2 years. And then the people had to put the republicans back in the majority in the house and senate to save our republic. Just like we will next year. So get your crying towels and snot rags ready. Red wave is coming. I love being the bearer of bad news for commiecrats.
“smearing people is how that you commiecrats roll.” Hard to believe this foul-mouthed name-calling individual can make that statement with a straight face.
Larry, looks like you got caught up in the moderator-delay and reposting overtop of that :>) I symphonize.
Prey tell — stupid lame joke, doesn’t mean anything.
I put Berlin airlift in to demonstrate that more of our people were lost in this successful airlift than in the Afghanistan extraction. Just saying.
To say Vietnam was not the result of a bad decision, or series of bad decisions, or a lifetime of bad decisions is revisionist. In 1945, Ho Chi Ming started saying “All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among them are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” and sent a letter to Harry S. Truman saying the same and asking for help in becoming free from French colonialism. The US made the decision to do nothing, stand neutral, when the French went to war with the the North in 1945, and in j1950 began providing financial and military aid to the French. Our war was on, the first decision was the worst decision, and we continued on from there.
And we were only not being overrun here because Donald J. Trump had already raised the white flag a year ago. Why would they attack before that?
I think we both agree that this could have been done better, perhaps with less loss of life, perhaps with leaving less behind. I think we do not necessarily think leaving Afghanistan is a good thing: I do. We would gain nothing in terms of creating a democracy based on US values, by staying. I think we also do not agree as to the magnitude and ownership of the mistake in planning and implementation. I say it’s a joint ownership, going back to Trump, and maybe even all the way back to the death of Bin Laden, a decade ago. I still say “the horror of it all” in similar, if not less, than leaving Vietnam, but can not refute your opinion. How about – both sucked and could of been done better. Better yet, don’t do them to begin with, make better choices earlier, especially when you find yourself propping up a corrupt government of thieves to the people.
Frank it’s amazing that you post such lies. Trump didn’t surrender. But wait. North Korea will get a piece of us sooner or later. The world knows that America is weakened now that a brain dead retard is in charge. And when he finally gets kicked out by the 25th amendment his token won’t be any better. You commiecrats got what you wished for with a big red bow on it
Joseph Bruder I’m coming to Covington Kentucky next month. Let’s get together a have a beer
I grew up in KY, but haven’t lived there for 40 years. Plus, meeting people who contribute to a website like this is probably not the best of ideas… I can’t recall any of your posts in particular, but I don’t know if you’re “Dan” crazy, or “Frank” reasonable. Not willing to risk bodily injury to find out.
Joseph I don’t know who Sam is but know this. If you and I met I would not try to harm you. Being marked an idiot is good enough for you. I would never harm someone because of their political opinions. If I were like that I would have been locked up years ago. But I believe that leftist are more likely to harm people from the other side of the political debate
What lies? You only mention Trump’s surrender, got more?
You say “Trump didn’t surrender.” In 2011, Trump advocated abandoning Afghanistan. He wanted to cut and run way back then,
In February of 2020, Donald J. Trump agreed to:
– withdraw 100% of coalition forces from Afghanistan in 14 months
– end all military and contractor support to Afghan security forces
– cease intervening in its domestic affairs.
Can you say: SURRENDER
Then, Donald J. Trump forced the Afghan’s to release 5,000 Taliban fighters and relaxed economic sanctions.
– Does that sound like victory with a V.
Donald J. Trump’s agreement said the Taliban could continue to commit violence against the government as long as they would not target U.S. forces or permit other terrorist organizations to use Afghanistan to threaten U.S. There are no monitoring or enforcement mechanisms in the agreement.
Cuz the deal said we gotta run, run, run, run a w a y.
Hey, but I didn’t come up with the Surrender idea first. I am in some fine company.
A few days ago, the RNC web site trumpeted Trump’s success with this “historic peace agreement.” It got a whole page. Now it’s gone since it looks like surrender support.
John Bolton, at the time, said “I think that’s a prescription for Democratic attack ads that would be fatal to someone’s credibility.”
“Our secretary of State signed a surrender agreement with the Taliban,” Trump national security adviser H.R. McMaster said at the time.
Even Nicky Hailey dinged the Trump deal.
What do you call it when you occupy a county, and then pick up your toys and run? MAGA?
Trump allowed NK to increase their ABM and nuclear arsenal. You can’t support what you say here, but better yet, can you support why you would even say it? I mean…Trump didn’t surrender, North Korea, Trump’s BFF, will get us….in what world does not make sense?
“The world knows that America is weakened now.” Really? Didn’t you just make that up? I bet you can’t support that either. And then you picture Biden dying and his token will take over. Sweet sentiments. Still doesn’t make sense except to see you as a racist, once again. Why else would you call Kamala a token? In what universe is that anything but a demeaning name tossed at a person of another race.
You do know that Kamala Harris is not exactly a token in the Biden administration. That’s your Trumpian paradigm. The Biden administration is a beautiful rainbow accepting anyone who has the talent to do the job. And then there’s MAGA — where people sometimes only last a day after announcement, most often quit or get indicted before they leave, an Executive Branch turnover rate never seen before in modern history. Remember, Scaramucci, that was fun. Heck, Trump himself calls a lot of his hand-picked experts idiots. Wonder who picked them?
Frank, funny how when you show proof of the radical right’s ignorance, misinformation, and outright blindness to facts, they quit responding.
Well played.
Big hat, no cattle :>)
Even Larry comes out swinging, with name calling and “alternate facts” and assertions about what Democrats think… but answer his replies, and he gives up… On the other hand, now that it’s been pointed out, they won’t quit until they have the last post (6 months after the original article).
