Housing Justice – The Latest Socialist Objective
Progressive advocates for “housing justice” believe everyone should have a place to live. So do we.
Unfortunately, advocates also view successful suburban neighborhoods as ‘structurally racist’ and seek to replace these areas with low-income apartment buildings. Apparently, making a neighborhood less nice makes it less racist and more equitable.
The Obama Administration pushed the same idea in 2009 when officials described the neat rows of single-family homes in Westchester, New York as ‘instruments of white supremacy.’
To make Westchester ‘less racist,’ the Administration ordered the city to build 10,000 low-income, high-density apartments. Westchester was rich enough to defeat the effort in court, but other cities weren’t as successful.
In 2015, Obama’s Department of Housing and Urban Development began withholding grant money from jurisdictions that refused to eliminate single-family zoning and increase density in business districts. The assumption behind this action was that any neighborhood nicer than any other neighborhood is inherently racist.
Housing justice starts to make sense when you realize the Democrats have an ulterior motive: power.
“Suburbs are typically purple politically. Republicans win as often as Democrats,” writes Fox News contributor Tucker Carlson. “If your goal was to make America a one-party state, you want to change this. You want to make suburbs into cities and if you did that, you’d win every time. Democrats win cities.”
Progressive voters love the idea of housing justice because they think people deserve everything for free (just like Medicare for All and free college tuition). Proponents of housing justice believe the government has a responsibility to provide affordable housing to those who cannot afford it. And this is where things start to smell like socialism.
Consider the following quote from HousingJusticePlatform.org:
“We believe that housing is a human right, not a commodity to be bought and sold for profit. We believe that everyone should be guaranteed an affordable, safe, and healthy place to call home…And we know that to build a just housing system, we must start now.”
But the government does not have a responsibility to provide homes for US citizens. If it did, we would become a socialist state with massive levels of unemployment and no control over where we live. Unfortunately, President Joe Biden is a housing justice advocate and plans to force cities to build high-rise apartments by withholding funds.
Biden’s infrastructure plan calls to cut funding to jurisdictions that “ban apartment buildings from certain residential areas or set a minimum lot size for a single-family home” and withhold vital transportation funds from cities that refuse to allow high-rise apartments and other high-density zoning in suburbs.
“A house with a white picket fence and a big backyard for a Fourth of July barbecue may be a staple of the American dream, but experts and local politicians say multifamily zoning is key to combating climate change, racial injustice, and the nation’s growing affordable housing crisis,” reports USA Today.
Sacramento is on board as well, with Mayor Darrell Steinberg (D) proposing “mandatory housing” for homeless people with a proposal to construct 5,000 living spaces by the end of the month. The ridiculous measure would force homeless people to accept housing when offered.
As suggested by Carlson, there are several alternative actions lawmakers could take to make housing more affordable:
- Loosen the housing market
- Prevent foreign governments from purchasing residential homes
- Stop companies from turning single-family homes into rental properties
However, unfortunately, none of these suggestions produce votes for the Democratic Party.
Author’s Note: I understand there is a housing crisis that was exacerbated by the pandemic, but that’s no reason to hand the federal government more control over where we live. Also, successful homeowners and landlords should not be shamed for their success.

Tucker Carlson: Abolishing the suburbs is major part of Biden Administration’s infrastructure plan
The Leftists just want to deconstruct all of our norms to make us all start over. Once we all have nothing, everything they propose will look fantastic. Lesson learned from Communists and other socialist regimes. Most Dems will be on board out of fear of reprisal and further suppression.
Man, I don’t know Alice, when you reference Tucker Carlson to make your point, it kind of take the luster out of your argument. White supremacy loves Tucker, he speaks their language. The Swanson trust fund baby’s special power is making white people think that the coloreds are gunna take away their way of life.
Now, why would apartment buildings make a municipality “less nice”? There are very nice apartments throughout the United States. More people means more taxes, Why wouldn’t the suburbs want to increase their tax base?
Unfortunately, you said the quiet part out loud, the ones making the biggest objection to this are Republican operatives and politicians. They know that if your neighbors don’t look like you and you see them taking care of their apartments, shopping at the local grocery store doing the same things you do, all of the sudden, they aren’t as scary as Tucker made them out to be. If you’re not afraid of “others”changing your lifestyle, then you’re less likely to vote Republican. Republicans really haven’t offered much other than “be afraid of that guy that doesn’t look like you”.
We are the richest Country in the World, there is no reason our citizens can’t have clean and safe living arrangements for anyone that wants it. I’m sure the private sector would help make this dream a reality.
Have you actually seen some of those Low Cost Apartment buildings after a few years? They
look like the bombed out place in Berlin, Hamburg and other German cities after WWII. I, for one
don’t want to work my butt off to afford a $350,000 home and have that on my street.
K,
Not sure where you live, but knowing what I know, I’d be more upset with the landlords that are collecting rent and not putting any money back into the buildings than the tenants that are at the landlord’s mercy.
The worst are where the Feds are the landlord.
This is really sad but the reality is…..Most of them never worked a day in their lives. They feed off the hard working people and get welfare, food stamps, section 8, utility help, free cell phones, free internet service …..need I say more. When my son was young his first job while in high school was working at Acme. He saw these food stamp people come in and order crab, lobster, shrimp , steaks etc….. These programs were designed to be used in emergencies. Now they are a way of life for them. They sit back and use the system generation after generation. Most of them starting in their early teens and 20’s.
Kate, you have fallen for Reagan’s “Welfare Queen” troupe. The facts simply don’t back up your assertions.
Nearly 90 percent of the more than 4.6 million households that receive rental assistance through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are elderly, disabled, working (or worked recently), or likely had access to work programs under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. The typical working household receiving federal rental assistance is a family with two school-age children and a parent who works at a job that does not pay enough to cover the market rent for a modest apartment. Only a small share of non-elderly, non-disabled adults receiving assistance are persistently unemployed.
There ‘tis
I worked in the hospital as a Social worker for 17 years and I’ve seen first hand what I stated above. Those are the facts…..The statistics your spewing is only worth the paper it’s on. I guess you’ve never had a job where you could see this first hand.
Kate, your personal antidote are not facts. The statistics I supplied are factual and come straight from the source. Maybe if we paid a living wage instead of having the government subsidize private business by providing healthcare we would be in a better place and you wouldn’t be so quick to judge people.
As a first responder in a medium sized , rust belt City, I do have a job where I see on a daily basis the immense struggles the working poor have to navigate due to deplorable living conditions.
Coming from a middle class family growing up, I was shamefully unaware of what the “others” have to deal with and how hard they have to work just to keep their head above water. Yes, there are some people that game the system, but statistically, it’s less than 10%.
It sucks that you have such a dim view of your fellow man. Me, I see the living conditions on a daily basis and think to myself, if it were me, I’d be hard pressed to even try. So, if we can improve the less fortunate among us lives … just a little bit, I think we, as a Christian Nation have a moral and social obligation to do so. In the long run, it benefits us all.
Kate, I was looking forward to your reply… where’d you go?
Since I can’t reply to your post at 14:27, I’ll reply here.
.
If you’re going to resort to Christianity to justify your position, you should be aware if you are not already, that Jesus did NOT say that his followers should expect Caesar to increase taxes to take care of the poor for them. The Christian philosophy is for people to personally make efforts to help the poor.
.
It’s not charity if I take money from you at the point of a gun just because I gave it to someone else that I deemed deserving. YOU should do that YOURSELF, not have Uncle Sam take my money.
.
Furthermore, perpetual subsidies do not help when recipients become dependent on them for the rest of their lives.
Thinkr, cool fairy tale about what a fictional book says.
Again, contrary to Republican narrative, the number of able bodied recipients that have no source of personal employment is less than 10%.
According to the National Review ( a very conservative publication) the is very little proof idea of generational welfare ( their words, not mine).
And as a personal antidote, the programs available to me and my then girlfriend when we had a baby in high school enabled us both to graduate, provided childcare as she went to college and allowed us to get back on track. Not only did government programs allow us a chance to succeed, but now our children are also successful ( and for the minors, on their way to be successful). It was much cheaper to help us when we needed it and assist us in becoming contributing members of society, than to discard us and have our child suffer.
“A Nation’s Greatness Is Measured By How It Treats Its Weakest Members”
“We are the richest Country in the World, [so let’s change our economic system and copy the economic system of the poorest country in the World]”. Typical left wing attempt at thinking.
Ben what white supremacy language does Tucker Carlson speak? Ok. I didn’t think so. You’re talking out of your ass again. No one in their right mind would believe you libturds. To be clear, I’m calling you a liar.
Dan, what have I lied about? I don’t think like a white nationalist, so I have to go by what white nationalist say. So here ‘tis
Leading white nationalist Nicholas Fuentes, whose “Groyper Army” appeals to disaffected young white men, also offered Carlson praise. “I have been skeptical of Tucker ever since his coverage (or lack thereof) of the stop the steal movement after the election, but tonight he really brought it all together & spelled out explicitly what is happening to the country,” Fuentes wrote on Twitter. “Unironically huge victory in the battle of ideas.” Fuentes went on to call Carlson “based” (a term of praise) and claim that the Fox News post had just “red-pilled 4 million people, and there is nothing liberals can do about it.”
Knowing your bigoted views, I understand how you see nothing wrong with this.
I’m damned proud of my bigoted views. They make more sense than the commiecrat views that tell people what to do and what to think. I guess I’m just not woke. And damned sure will never be. I deny being racist if that’s what you mean. But I don’t give a rat’s ass what you or your kind think of me. I just believe in equal rights for whites.
Dan,
Thank you for your reply.
I am curious though,
What exactly are equal rights for whites? What right don’t you have that a person of another race does?
It is obvious that you don’t care how others perceive you. Thank you for that. This way we all know exactly where you stand… and it’s on the wrong side of history.
Once again, the fools are advocating that we promote more government to solve the problems created by too much government.
Poor,
How has too much government created the problem of not enough safe low income housing?
No. The commiecrats did that. Ben you post bullshit without facts. But being an idiot I know that you can’t help yourself
Dan, you are correct, you are an idiot.
Punctuation and sentence structure matters.
