Will Joe Biden Finally Join the Presidential Race? White House says he's Ready
As confidence in Hillary Clinton continues to wane, many believe Vice President Joe Biden will finally join the presidential race. Speculations soared after a recent meeting between Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren, not to mention rumors about Obama giving Biden his blessing during a recent luncheon.
White House Spokesman Josh Earnest thinks Biden is more than ready for the challenge. He told reporters during a recent White House briefing that Obama’s decision to choose Biden as his Vice President proves that the President thinks Biden is capable of running for the top position himself.
The spokesman also reminded reporters that Biden is a man whom Obama has referred to as “one of the best vice presidents in our history.”
“I think that should give you some sense of the president’s view of Vice President Biden’s aptitude for the top job,” said Earnest, reminding us that Biden ran for presidency twice before joining forces with Obama.
“You could make the case that there is probably no one in American politics today who has a better understanding of what exactly is required to mount a successful national presidential campaign,” said the spokesman.
Earnest hinted that President Obama is considering making an endorsement in the democratic primary, but declined to mention names. He also urged reporters not to jump to conclusions.
Joe Biden as a Democratic candidate would prove refreshing compared to Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, I must admit. But staring his campaign this late in the game will prove challenging. Biden is expected to make his final decision by the end of the summer.
