President Donald Trump has taken decisive action to halt the flow of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood, freezing over $27 million in immediate federal funding and placing a total of $120 million under review. The move targets Planned Parenthood and similar organizations while the administration investigates whether any of the money was used to support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives—efforts that Trump banned through an executive order on his first day back in office.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed that all Title X grant recipients are being reviewed for compliance with federal law and Trump’s executive directives. “HHS is reviewing grantees to ensure compliance with President Trump’s executive orders,” a department spokesperson told Reuters.

This decision delivers on a key campaign promise by Trump to cut off federal support from abortion providers and reestablish a culture of accountability within the federal government. More than just a funding issue, this move marks a stand against what many view as Planned Parenthood’s long history of unethical practices.

Title X and the Funding Freeze

Planned Parenthood and its affiliates were expected to receive approximately $120 million in 2025 through Title X, a federal program aimed at providing reproductive health services to low-income individuals. That amount represents nearly half of the entire Title X budget. With around 4,000 clinics participating in the program, over four million people receive services through this funding each year.

These grants were intended to cover things like pregnancy testing, contraception, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. Senator Patty Murray of Washington echoed that sentiment, calling the freeze “illegal” and claiming it would “rip away the ability of women with the tightest budgets to get the basic reproductive health care they need to control their lives and futures.” She added, “It’s clear Trump and Elon couldn’t care less how many people suffer, whose cancer goes undetected, or if women can no longer afford birth control as a result of their deranged mission to attack anything they deem DEI.”

But critics argue that these accusations are designed to distract from Planned Parenthood’s deeply troubling legacy—a legacy that many believe should disqualify the organization from receiving any federal money at all.

A Dark and Disturbing History

In 2015, a series of undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress exposed Planned Parenthood officials discussing, in chilling detail, the harvesting and sale of body parts from aborted babies. One video showed a representative joking about buying a luxury car with profits from fetal tissue sales. “I want a Lamborghini,” she said with a laugh.

Planned Parenthood later admitted that its affiliates had accepted up to $60 per “tissue specimen” obtained through abortion. Then-President Cecile Richards explained the payments were “cost reimbursements,” and acknowledged that “adjustments that facilitate fetal tissue donations rarely occur at a few of our clinics that offer women this service.”

But what kind of medical organization modifies procedures to better preserve fetal organs for sale? And what does it say about Planned Parenthood’s priorities when jokes about Lamborghini purchases are made in the same breath as human organ transactions?

Gruesome Disposal Practices Revealed

The controversy deepened when state investigations uncovered even more disturbing practices. In Ohio, Attorney General Mike DeWine found that three Planned Parenthood clinics were working with companies that “steam cooked” aborted baby remains before dumping them into landfills. These actions, which were reportedly meant to “kill bacteria,” sparked outrage and led to renewed calls for defunding the organization.

Similar practices were discovered in other states, including South Carolina and Kansas. Yet in most cases, Planned Parenthood escaped with only small fines or orders to revise its disposal methods. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott responded by ending all Medicaid participation for Planned Parenthood, stating that taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize such unethical behavior.

Suppression of Whistleblowers and Media Attacks

Rather than facing justice, Planned Parenthood appeared to benefit from political protection. David Daleiden, the man behind the undercover videos, had his home raided by California Department of Justice agents in what he called an “attack on citizen journalism.” His footage and personal information were seized, while key documents linking Planned Parenthood to illegal activity were left untouched.

The raid came under the authority of then-Attorney General Kamala Harris—who had received campaign support from Planned Parenthood. Daleiden stated the raid was politically motivated and timed to influence the 2016 election. “This is what happens when you threaten a powerful, taxpayer-funded organization,” he said.

Despite efforts to discredit Daleiden, the FBI later requested unredacted documents from the Senate Judiciary Committee as part of a potential investigation. Senator Chuck Grassley, who led the Senate’s inquiry, said the evidence was overwhelming. “The sale of aborted baby body parts is the greatest human atrocity of our times,” said David Daleiden. “It must finally be brought to justice under the law.”

The Eugenics Roots of Planned Parenthood

The foundation of Planned Parenthood is also worth examining. Its founder, Margaret Sanger, was a self-avowed supporter of eugenics, who saw birth control as a way to engineer a “race of thoroughbreds.” In one infamous letter from 1939, Sanger wrote, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.” Her comments came during a project specifically aimed at reducing Black birth rates.

Sanger even gave a speech to the women’s branch of the Ku Klux Klan, later writing in her autobiography, “Always to me any aroused group was a good group, and therefore I accepted an invitation to talk to the women’s branch of the Ku Klux Klan at Silver Lake, New Jersey.”

Despite these horrifying details, Sanger’s name remained on buildings and awards within the organization for decades. While Planned Parenthood has tried in recent years to distance itself from her legacy, the structure she created—targeting minority communities for abortion services—remains largely intact.

The Real Mission Behind the Freeze

The Trump administration’s freeze is more than a fiscal decision. It is a confrontation with a deeply compromised organization that has long operated under the protection of political allies and a complicit media. The administration is not “attacking women’s healthcare,” as critics claim. It is seeking accountability for an institution that has consistently pushed the boundaries of ethics, law, and human decency.

For conservatives, pro-life advocates, and all Americans who believe in the sanctity of life, the decision to pause Planned Parenthood’s funding is long overdue. It brings to light the reality behind the carefully crafted image of an organization that has, for years, operated in the shadows—trafficking in fetal tissue, joking about profits, and defending a founder who saw minority populations as a problem to be managed.
